I'm extremely happy that I left those nutters when I did. They're bonkers if I say so.

GB teaching - Gays and Lesbians will be resurrected as Gays and Lesbians
by Listener inthe final talk of the saturday afternoon online convention is given by lett, sporting a creepy looking combover, which for some reason, looks creepier than normal.
he talks about how those resurrected will need to come into line with a new moral code otherwise they will be destroyed.
he uses an example of gay people having to turn away from their inclinations even though they may feel that they are perfectly acceptable.. this demonstrates that the gb feel that being gay is a taught behaviour rather than an imperfect unnatural desire, otherwise they would be growing out of that desire as they develop towards perfection, as they teach.

Are You Afraid of Contracting The Covid Virus?
by minimus inthankfully my best friend who got this terrible malady is doing well after being in the hospital for more than two months!
i see some people who are still petrified over this virus.
they are still virtual prisoners in their own homes.

No, I figure when my time is up, it's up. But seriously at first, I was a little freaked out by it, but now just wish this thing would get behind us. I don't use hand sanitizer, never have, never will, I've absorbed too many chemicals when I use to be a JW janitor. Now it is just old fashion soap and water, and only the mask when I have to enter a public business because it is mandatory where I live. And before someone goes on about the high-risk folks, I am what they would call high risk.

My letter of disassociation, what do you think?
by James Jack indear brothers, july 27, 2020. in 1919, the president of the watchtower society made a bold prediction, “millions now living will never die”.
that quotation was constantly repeated by the organization till the year 2000 when they realized that everyone in attendance at that assembly, who listened to j.r. rutherford repeat those words, are dead.. that teaching has guided my life.
statements were repeatedly made at assemblies, conventions and in print that there was no career in “this system of things” so you don’t need a job with benefits or retirement, your fulltime job is to “preach the good news”!

@LongHairGal,
I did send my JW relatives a heads up before the announcement was made, but it didn't make any difference. They still chose the lies that were spilled and even made up a few of their own. Learned this through other relatives who were not JWs.

There is nothing wrong with writing a letter, in fact, it is quite therapeutic, but I wouldn't recommend sending it. They will not read it past the point they realize what you are saying. By sending in a letter of disassociation you are allowing them to have power over your life. My husband and I both disassociated ourselves back in 2001. After we left we were treated just like a person who was disfellowshiped, including having our names slandered. If I could do it all over again, I would have just walked away, never to return. If any did attempt to "encourage" me to return, I would politely say I'm not interested anymore. Never put anything down on paper that can be used against you. During this time of the "pandemic", it is very easy to just slip away.

From reddit...How old were you when you became a publisher?
by Biahi ini was six, not given any choice.
i remember being in the old kh, and my dad told me the brothers wanted to talk to me in the back...i was terrified.
i actually thought they knew i didn’t want to be a dub, my dad told them to just add me as a publisher, so no back room meeting.

I was 17. My folks bounced around a lot when I was growing up. Dad was never a JW, but mom became one when I was quite young, and half of the time she was inactive, and the other half she was all zealous for it.

I agree with woiverines. My son who is in the military called me not very long ago and informed me that I need to purchase more guns and ammo. He couldn't go into any more than that.

I remember the night and day terrors I had as a child just from pictures in their publication, and that was many years ago. I would hate to see what they are doing now would have done even worse to my psyche as a child. As it was I was bearly holding it together back then.

The Characterization of most Jehovah's Witnesses
by Mr.Finkelstein inafter years of being with jws you start to see a certain developmental characterization of most jws, particularly from elders who have the most power in each congregation.
.
the ideology follows along the route of holding up a white sheet over the entire organization, as well each identified individual member (brothers and sisters) which no doubt most jws will inevitably exploit toward themselves.. i personally recognized what hypocrisy was at young age from seeing and being around jws at the kingdom halls and what they were like away from the halls.. there is forced pretentiousness at play which comes out by jws.. having being reminded repetitively that god almighty sent his only begotten son to redeem their sins probably had some relevant connection.. there was no question to the fact that jws are associated with delusions, anxiety, fear, ignorance, subsided with prejudice against others who are not recognized as being active jws .. we are the most righteous chosen ones as it were and that self recognizance goes deep into the jws's consciousness in their daily living.

Something I noticed when I was a JW was the attitude they have towards others, especially towards others who were their fellow members. They will stick a knife and twist it in someone else's back if it benefits them.
It was only recently that I finally discovered who was telling a vicious and slanderous lie about my husband and myself. I knew this was going around but I just could never figure out who was responsible for it. It was only a couple weeks ago that I finally was able to find the source, and that person has since passed away. This person was like a father to my husband, or at least we thought he was (he was also an elder). This lie that he was telling any who would listen was started a few years before we had even left the Watchtower. He was the reason why even before we left that our own JW family members cut us out of their lives.
