"Friendship with the world"
by Schizm inadulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with god?
whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of god.--james 4:4. .
for you who may still believe in the the bible, how do you understand the above text?

Well, I'm not an Adulteress, so it doesn't apply to me.

Mormons Own Marriott Hotel Chain?
by Gerard in.
it was brought to my attention that mormons own the marriot hotel chain and , as other religious corporation we know, they get tax breaks for being a "charitable/religious corporation".
has someone else heard thisabout the marriot?

I stayed at one and I had to be baptized as a mormon before they let me go. And they didn't let me order porn, just propaganda from the LDS videos.

I'm offended by him and thereby I think that nobody else should have a choice in listening to him.
Just kidding. I'm glad he will have an unsensored show, thats what him and his audience wants. Now he has a medium to do business through. I wonder if his TV show will ever get on a premium cable channel and thus be unsensored....

Do JW's disfellowship or reprove JW's for celebrating Holidays and birthday
by booker-t ini remember when i was growing up in the 70's and 80's the thought of even looking at a birthday card was thought to be satanic.
now i hear that jw's are alittle lax on celebrating holidays.
my niece who is not a jw but lives with my mom who is a devout jw had christmas lights in her room and the elders came over to my mom's house and did not raise cain and abel.

If you are a JW and celebrate holidays, you arn't really a JW. I'm sure its a DFing offence, because they'll call it Idolatry and DF you for that. They can't really DF you for celebrating, but if those celebrations involve their opinion of idols, you'd better watch out. IF they can't nail you down on something, they'll just stop associating with you (which is great in my book) and hope you leave their community. They aren't too fond of people who think for themselves and don't do exactly what the GB tells them to.

I need help - Do I go to the ceremony or not?
by Sprocket ini really need some good advice.. i have been dissasociated for 7 years--an ex:elder.
i have three children, none of them have spoken to me since i left other than my son saying that they would "welcome me back with open arms if i return, but until then they would have nothing to do with me".
this at the hospital bed where my mother (their grandmother) died less than a month later.. my middle daughter got married 2 years ago and for some strange reason i did not get an invitation.

I agree to go there and be bigger than them. Don't play their games and live by their rules. They have no control over you anymore. I say show up and be polite. Just like you were at any other place. Show that your love isn't conditional on being a member of a paper distribution company. Send a nice gift as well.

Sickness is a horrible thing, no matter what you believe. Whatever this person believes should comfort them. Although you might not believe them, it still makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside. If she believes that she will be resurrected, then have her talk about that. If it lifts her spirits than she'll be that much happier.
I'd suggest letting her do the talking and be there for her. Listen, laugh and love.
