Those pictures promote playing soccer without shin guards??? In God's new perfect system we won't accidently kick someones shin, right? Or perhaps we won't try to get the ball away from the other team because that would be stealing, correct?

Watchtower Aug 1st gives out conflicting signals
by ozziepost inheard the expression "having a bet each way"?
you know how it goes, someone doesn't want to give offense or get "offside" with readers, colleagues etc so they try and agree with two conflicting arguments simultaneously.
the watchtower wouldn't do that, would it?

Wedding ceremonies outside the kingdom hall
by Stealth ini was talking with my sister jw this past week and she told me that in her congregation they now have a new rule that for a ms or elder to perform a marriage outside of the kingdom hall, like in someones private home or in a park it now requires the approval of the entire elder body.
i can remember many marriages that were not allowed in the kh, yet you could always find an elder or ms who was related or easy going enough that would agree to perform the marriage out side of the kh.
this was the case in my marriage since my soon to be spouse was not yet baptized they would not do it at the kh, so my bil ms performed the wedding at a local hotel.

My Father In Law got remarried outside of the KH, and he is an Elder, now the PO of the hall. He did it because he didn't want a lot of people at the wedding. I don't think it means your weak or anything. The strange thing is that he threw a fit when My wife and I wanted a wedding outside of the hall. He said that everyone would be offended if we didn't invite the whole hall and have the wedding at the hall. I was angry when he didn't hold to his own advice...

Why do you believe???
by truthseeker1 ini have a question for everybody.
it has probably been asked before, but i'll ask it again in case anyone changed their minds.... why do/don't you believe in god/god.
what give you faith in things not beheld/makes you not believe?.

I suppose by definition I have faith. I have never seen a molecule, but I have faith they exist. I have never seen Mt. Everest, bit I have faith it exists. I have never seen the other side of the moon, but again I have faith its there. Why do I believe these exist? Evidence around me point to no other explination. I haven't found anything in my life that gives me faith in god/angles/demons/ect. Thats why I asked the question, wondering what other people saw/experienced that helped them believe.

Fornication & the wtbts
by Bang inspiritually?
fornication - engaging in the pleasure that comes from spreading your 'seed' around with the ones you like the look of, and when your 'drunk' just about anyone - not particularly concerned about marriage or the result of the union.
i suppose it includes spilling your seed without impregnating, as long as you got to use the person.

I agree
I'm a person who needs to see proof of things to believe them. If I saw a demon, saw someone resurrected, saw a bush burning that wasn't consumed, saw a pillar of flame or a sea being parted, I might believe in something supernatural. Why is it, according to the bible, the Israelites had lots of visible evidence from god to believe in him, but nowadays, we have to believe because it was written in a book. Why can't god prove himself to us today?

First Impressions : Men & Women
by professor inthis question is kind of related to the male and female friends post: .
a female friend of mine once told me that many women find it necessary to flirt with a man the first time they meet him, even if there is no real attraction.
the reasoning is that a man will never pay attention to a woman unless there is a sexual interest first.

Quite the opposite:
"Yes and No. For some men a woman's relevance is tied to sex, but not all men feel that way. For some women their own perception of self worth is tied to sex, but not all women feel that way."
No and Yes, for all women a man's relevance is tied to sex, but all women don't feel that way. For all men, other peoples' perceptions of self worth isn't tied to sex, and all men feel that way.
LOL, JK
Each indivudal is different. Judging men/women before you know them is just as bad as judging "Worldlies" before you know them. :)

DO YOU APPRECIATE THE CONVENTIONS??
by minimus inthis gem is from the aug.1st wt.
it tells about how in one south american country, every year witnesses walk for miles through the jungle and then travel for hours by canoe just to make the convention.
it is not uncommon for someone to fall into the river or to snag his garments on a bush, therefore their appearance is not quite appropriate.they look somewhat disheveled.

I asked my wife this question and she said its the only thing that helps people change their lives for the better. She said thats why she thinks the WT is the right one. Not to start an arguement, i neglected to inform her that countless other religions have people in it who changed their lives for the better (stop abusing drugs, stealing, ect.)
I have trouble with faith because I don't see any reason to believe. I havent experienced anything that helps me have faith in a god (excluding the we're here, arn't we argument) so I have trouble believing.

If this was true, these have got to be the dumbest dubs around!
Why not bring a change of chlothes. Its obvious that their convention clothes are not their only clothes. Why don't they wear their grubby clothes on the way over there, then change when they get there??? Can you imagine people who live in this enviornment getting all dressed up to go trudging through the jungle then take a canoo trip for a few hours...LOL
