I know some guy in Greece. Cyprus, actually. A nice guy. He dated my sister before he went home after getting his Marketing Degree. He knows greek. I went to some of his parties, crazy stuff happend, lots of fun tho.

Moral Obligation

I don't mean cramming it down peoples throats. thats more JW style. Just let people know that there is another side to the story. I believe everyone has the right to choose what they believe and don't believe. I agree with the majority of you where It shouldn't be extreme. I just feel so bad that all these people make life/death decisions, spend their whole life serving a publishing company and don't know the truth behind it. If they at least know the truth behind the org and then decide to look past it and serve them, that their decision. It just bothers me that all these people are making decisions w/out knowing the truth behind them. Thats why I feel the urge to let people know.

Mr. Bowen thinks there is something wrong with the Org and he wants to fix it. he still believes in the religion, he still wants to be a witness for jehovah. He just feels bad that these children are being abused and the org is covering it up so they don't look bad. Thats what he wants to change.
Please don't say that we should wait for Jehovah to clean things up in his new system. The org has gone through many changes led by people in the org. This is how the present arrangements came to be. People saw a need to change and things were changed. The JW org is better off after these changes. That is all Bowen is trying to do, make the Org a safer, more loving place.

Part of me feels that I should just be happy I am out. I wasn't happy in the borg. Some people are and they should be left there if they want to. To tear them out of their "happy place" would be wrong. If that is their beliefs, then I shouldn't say anything.
The other part of me says otherwise (as it often does). Reading the beginning of CoC, it says he felt an obligation to tell what really happens behind the scenes. Perhaps its because he was an intragal part of it. I feel like the JWs need to know both sides of the story and then make their choice. Its hard because I know the WT lies about their past so they wouldn't look bad.
So do we have a moral obligation to let JWs know the truth?
my answer is Yes. We should let them know in a kind way. Don't yell. Don't cram it down their throats. Bring it up once to plant some seeds. Be prepared because it would be a one shot thing.

Does anyone have..
by PandaJ in..an actual scanned copy of a letter from the wts telling any elder or jw that they need 2 witnesses to pursue a child molestation charge?.
since everyone says this has been what they have been telling people, it would seem that people would have contacted the wts in the past and received a response explaining.. someone please help me out.

A few thoughts.
by The_Bad_Seed ini see that this board/forum has many serious, and what i consider to be meritous posters, that can usually be found dispelling the wtbts shyte.
since my foul arrival here in may, i have read and taken in volumes of great information from this site and it's links, which would have proved (and are) extremely helpful, and valuable to me had i felt the need for justification in my decision to leave the borg in the first place.
i saw the holes, the self preservative techniques, the speculations, the stupid protocols, the 'prophecies' that had outlived their shelf lives, and simply walked away, never really having looked back, always having felt justified because it just didn't feel right to me.

I'm in a similar situation.
I told my wife and she told the elders(her dad is PO). He and his wife (step mother-in-law) came over to check up on me the next day after meeting. I told them all my doubts and concerns about the WT. They just told me I needed to study more and stop looking at apostate stuff. Things didn't change for a couple of months. I still went to meetings. Other elders didn't get involved. After a few months of this, It came to the surface again. This time I decided to talk to the elders and let them know I didn't believe that the WT was "gods chosen ppl" or even in the bible. After a meeting with 2 elders, We decided that I was going to study with one of them. I said if I can be convinced that it was the truth, I would believe it. Its not that I hate the WT, I just didn't believe it was "Gods Chosen People". No announcements were made, I wasn't DF'd or anything. Just people were worried about me. Nobody shunned me (YET). After a few studies, I wasn't being convinced of anything. Everything was based on circular reasoning to me. We are right because God said we are kinda arguments. They couldn't answer my questions (evolution) and when they tried, the answers made me laugh (Dinosaurs were all herbavores, etc.) I told the Elder I was studing with that It wasn't working. At that point everything changed. The Elder told me to leave his house. I told him thanks for the time and effort he put into me, but we just shook his head and told me not to thank him. I tried to shake his hand and say good-bye but he said no and just asked me to leave. From that point on I haven't spoken to a witness except my wife. My relationship with my wife has spiraled out of control. She told me that she doesn't want to be married to someone who isn't a witness, and she is resents me for not being one. As much as I enjoy being married to her, I am not going to stay in a marriage that I am not wanted or respected. She refuses to have kids with me because she doesn't want to raise kids in a divided household. Well, you get the picture. We are currently separated and are getting a legal divorce. I was asked to write a DA letter, but thats the only contact by elders since this incident months ago.
This is what could be expected. Our wives seem a little different tho. Mine is VERY headstrong and opinionated. She is loving, but it is conditional. Things will probably be different, but along these same lines I would imagine.
