If I were you, I'd show up late (I know, its at your house, but just start getting ready when people start showing up) and go and change right after meeting and come out in your PJ's. I think they'll get the hint. Maybe open up a beer or glass of wine too. Nothing wrong with a little alcohol

HELP!!! Hubby turning home into 'Book Study'
by Skeptically Yours inmy husband, who's a ministerial servant, was approached by an elder and asked if he'd offer our home to become a 'book study' meeting place.. i'm a bit of a loner, and need lots of peace, quiet, privacy, and solitude; plus to boot you all know i'm living this sort of double life, you know, just doing the very minimum to remain a witness.. this is awful!!!!!!!!!!
i can't deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
take care!

Mass walk-out
by Elsewhere inin another thread heathen gave me a great idea.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=43769&site=3.
i'm always hearing apostates propose the idea of partaking of the emblems or passing out apostate literature at the memorial... but heathen has given me an even better idea.... a mass walk-out.
well, at least five people or so .

JW Roots and their future?
by truthseeker1 ini'm not going to post the whole article, but this was an interesting find i wanted to share with everyone.. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/apocalypse/explanation/amprophesy.html.
i think this is what people will think about jws when they look back at them in 100 years or so, when the movement finally dies out.
its also interesting that all this stuff isn't mentioned in the proclaimers book.

I suppose I should have said "evolved into something new". The org is actually not that new of a religion, just an evolution of earlier movements. Its the same damn people (types of people) who keep this crap moving on. there will always be these people, and I suppose there will always be people following them.

How about if we drank the wine and ate the cracker? Then said thanks for the food and leave.
It would be funny, but I'm not all for disrupting people right to being brainwashed...eerr, religious freedom.

Just who the hell is this Will Shakespeare?
by joannadandy ini have always heard the arguements, rather absent mindedly in the dark halls of riverview (the english department's ancient building on my campus) that shakespeare is not responsible for writing what is ascribed to him.. my shakespeare professor had to deal with this the first day of class, when someone said, "shouldn't we be talking about marlowe" and he handled it as best he could in those circumstances, "for the purposes of this university and this class it has been decided you need to study shakespeare.
i'm just presenting it, and it's good stuff.
i don't care who wrote it, or how many people wrote it, it's just good literature.

Evolution vs. Creation (on Earth)
by StinkyPantz ini didn't necessarily start this thread as a debate but moreso as kind of a survey.
i just wanna know what people think and a brief reason why.
i want to know how you think life originated on the earth.
-

I, along with everyone else on earth, can only guess how life originated. To me, life is a bunch of chemical reactions so to me it could come about spontainously, in the right circumstances. The right chemicals at the right time, slowly became more and more complex over time. Thats the only believable answer to me. Through the billions of years that there was no life on earth, I think it could have happend.

I think this is what people will think about JWs when they look back at them in 100 years or so, when the movement finally dies out. Its also interesting that all this stuff isn't mentioned in the Proclaimers book. From the looks of it, Millerites are the roots of the JWs down to date prophecies and all.

Church Gossip
by target insarah, the church gossip and self-appointed arbiter of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business.
several residents were unappreciative of her activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence.
she made a mistake, however, when she accused george, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his pickup truck parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon.

by Intuit39 incalling all ex's!
looks like tomorrow will be another great meetup.
interest had faltered over the last couple of months, but i think that was mainly due to the venues offered as choices.
