I was in service when I was about 10 with my mom when a supposed miracle happened. We were in a bad neighborhood with all high chain link fences. As we started to open the chain link gate my mom noticed the Beware of Dog sign and pulled me back from the open gate. The Rottweiler came running around the corner barking his head off. The gate closed before the dog could get at us. Of course it was the spring hinge on the gate that closed it. 2 weeks after hearing this story re-told quite a few times it became a strong wind sent by Jehovah. I’d just laugh but my Mom would just nod her head and say ”It was Jehovah’s protection at work”. Such BS. I heard the same story many times from the platform and always wondered if this was the miracle they were referring to or if it was someone else’s tall tale.

Not Forsaking Christian Gatherings
by StephaneLaliberte inat the meeting this week, there was a part about placing our trust in jehovah and not worrying about food and shelter (mat 6:33).
the part was based on the 2013 yearbook p138 and 139 where there were two examples:.
a family went to their convention leaving their chickens unattended for a number of days, worried about if they would survive.

New Awake magazine goes after the media
by cedars inhere is a link to the pdf.... http://www.jw.org/download/?issue=201312&output=html&pub=g&fileformat=pdf&alllangs=0&langwritten=e&txtcmslang=e&isbible=0.
some interesting quotes.... while it is wise not to believe everything we read in the news, it does not follow that there is nothing we can trust.
the key may be to have a healthy skepticism, while keeping an open mind.tone: when the tone of a news item is angry, spiteful, or highly critical, it suggests that an attack is under way and not a reasoned argument.sources: is there evidence of thorough research?

Effect of family life (me, wife and young boy) if I am df / da and wife zealous jw
by Daniel1555 ini have a question and hope to hear some experiences of you who went or are going through this situation:.
actually for several reasons (blood policy, disfellowshipping policy and some more) my conscience is telling me quite strongly, that i should not anymore be a part of that organization.. my wife and even elders know about my doubts (except blood policy).
however i continue to join the meetings actually just to please my wife and to be together with our baby boy.

A well planned exit is the best IMO. Doing anything drastic tends to turn a zealot into a super zealot and a JW martyr. Do it carefully and slowly and you have a chance of keeping your family intact.

How Do You Know If You Are "Marked"?
by Thoughtless inyeah, this has been a question that has been on my mind for a while, but how do one know if he has been "marked" by the congregation?
do they announce it?
i have expressed doubt last year about the org, but i still have responsibilities within the kh.

I've heard a marking talk before only because it was very pointed at a friend of mine. The marking talk doesn’t give names but a lot of times they’ll announce it as a “special needs” talk. It really does rely on the gossip in the hall to spread around who it’s about. Ours was about drugs and suicide which was very pointed at my poor friend who was in the hospital at the time of the talk. His parents were spreading the idea that he was tired from all his extra classes at school. After the talk he had a lot less visitors.

what i have realized studying JWs,the bitter truth
by spirituk inwell, i have been studying jws religion ,my cousin is a jw and i have visited him a lot of times.i have watched his way of living and things like that.i have been at the district convention last week.i read so many things from both sides.i came to the conclusion that if someone believes god exists then it is so easy and he should be a jehovah's witness.sadly its true and that is why so many people are and every year they baptised even more.. stories about jws reducing?wrong.. facing problems?
false.. everybody in the convention had an ipad ,iphones etc with the bible in it.
+ wifi .

Anyone can buy BMW’s and Ipad’s when you have no retirement plans. My in-laws have lived paycheck to paycheck for their whole life. They spend every penny from their 401K on vacations and cars and tv’s. So convinced they don’t need a retirement as it quickly sneaks up on them. Their retirement plan is to buy an RV and wait for Armageddon. I already have plans for building a guesthouse in back of our place as I know exactly where they'll end up.

One cute canadian sister
by thomyorke ini like her videos about self-injury and other mental and physical problems, that could happened to young people.... she say that she is an active jw and regularly visit the meetings and go to service.. http://www.youtube.com/user/idranktheseawater.
but... what can you say about her wearing and hair style?.
it's cool, but it's "non-spiritual" style, not for "true" jw, isn't it ?!

In our hall in Oregon(Very strict) a young teen started to show signs of tourettes. He would blink and make noises. It wasn’t very disruptive but the elders talked to his family and made them call in to the meetings. Moving from SoCal to Oregon was a bit of a shock because of the differences in the halls.

What evidence is there for the miracles of the Bible OUTSIDE of the Bible?
by punkofnice inok. this is something i've wondered about.. people of certain religions tend to use their own holy book as evidence for things in itself.
this seems very circular to me.
using the book to prove the book in my view is pointless.. i am not aware of any of the 'miracles' of the bible or the quran as having any substantial evidence outside of themselves to give credibility to the books themselves.. has anyone come across such evidence?.

HAHA. Right on! You never read anything from the Babylonians like "Don't F#$@ with the Isrealites. They've got wicked god power".
