OF course what we wore was important . IT was a reason to celebrate even if itvwas only with a new dress. It became the only time we could ourselves first and do a small amount in our stange way of celebrating life.

What am I going to wear to the AGM?
by sherrie11 into the women out there that have been honoured with an invitation this is the question they ask themself.. .
i am going to admit one of the reasons i enjoyed the meetings was getting to dress up.
how many women out there found the meetings an excuse to dress up.

For myself I don't care it family members that has me concerned. THey all we handle any announcement differently but all (or most) will find a way to accept. 73 years as a JW is a lot of years to have to change.

I am so sorry to hear of the way you are being treated. JWs are so confused these days they cant follow their own hearts in dealing with family. This is part of the brainwashing. As the mother of an gay ex JW, I have watched the pain that their beliefs cause. I have come to a point in my life I actually feel sorry for JWs not being free to love their own families. This actually destroys the JW Organization in the long run. More of the younger ones are turning and running away from JW teachings.

Lois Lane, I am/was sister in congregation. I never enjoyed giving talks. I was a householder on the first theocratic school where sister delivered talks, so I started out early in life (11 years old first time 1959). It never became easier and I was thrilled to give up giving talks. Glad I wasn't a brother.

Fun dinner tonight with ex-JWs
by Hortensia ini got to meet some real live jwn posters tonight, they stopped here and we met for dinner.
i was nervous about it, but they are a lovely couple, very intelligent and fun.
i am sure i talked too much, it was all so interesting -- swapping stories about our jw histories and how we got out and what we're all doing now.

Has The Society, or Any Bro or Sis, Ever Screwed You Out Of Your Money?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthis thread was inspired because of 3rdgn, and her asking, on behalf of her destitute elderly widowed mom,.
for the return of her mother's "conditional loan" to the society of $20,000.00.. (this was stated today, under my thread of, "what was the effect on you of knowing hypocritical jw's?").
the society more or less yes, no, it is now our money, and you can't have it back.

In the 50s my dad not a JW just married to one was a contractor, who used his license to build our new Kingdom Hall, he spent time and money building this hall,, the current congregation servant was to reimburse my dad for money spent, he didn't. My dad never forgot his being cheated.
