"If I wasn't born a JW, I would never have become one."
by OneEyedJoe ini've seen it mentioned by a few on the forum that at some point there was a realization that had they not been born a jw, they never would've converted no matter how many times the jws tried to study with them.
this was my experience too, and i'm wondering how universal it is for those that were born-in but eventually left.
i think i started having this thought (more specifically that if i were not born a jw, i would surely have become an atheist by now) in my late teens.

This thought came to me in my teens and has grown as I've grown older. I sat in meetings and assemblies wondering why I never had a choice. Now at 68 I have made a choice of freedom and putting on my new personality. My true self that was hidden for the first 60 years of my life. -

Rivalry among the sisters
by Esmeralda001 inwhen i was first introduced to the "truth", i was so distracted by the love and affection that the members were showing me that i was ready to convert into the religion without thinking twice.
i was conviced that jws were god's people (i still think some of them are).
i made it my goal to get baptized as i wanted to be part of the "only" religion that produce such good people.

Normal for JW Women. As a born in JW woman this is what life has always been like. I still suffer from low self esteem due to backing off from trying to deal with these s for such a long time.. -

How Many JWs Really Believe Everything They Are Told?
by minimus ini think that 80% of jws do not truly believe in what they are taught .
the vast majority stay in because of family, friends, ignorance and a lack of caring about any of the facts regarding the "truth".
many people are lazy.

i have a sister-in-law that believes 100%. How do we know this she speaks constantly about obeying Elders no matter what. When asked if she would drink poisoned kool-aid her answere of course she has to obey the Elders. Scarry so scarry.

Sorry for your loss. We all handle loss in different ways. For me it takes time for the reality to set in before I give into the emotion. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. -

Jehovah went from love to fear--when?
by gma-tired2 inwhen i was a child and teen jw in 50s and 60s jehovah was always referred to as our loving god now we are warned not to fall in the hands of a god to be feared.
when did jws change god from loving to a cruel god?

Sparky I see what you mean. This time frame fits with my memories. Jehovah was referred to as a loving God and suddenly you heard about him being loving less and less. The new World Translation probably behind this thinking an of course the Paradise book released in 1958. I wanted a loving, kind God so I left JWs.
