We dumped our JW lit when we moved across country. Kept two Bibles and we miss none of them. 4 Years no lit.

by cognac inare they allowed to vomit all their jw crap everywhere on fb?
i know they aren't supposed to have jw forums so i figured the same would apply to fb but not sure.. if there are any references, that would be great.

My son who has been df'd for 18 years and has many of his JW cousins and friends still on FB with him. Occasionaly he will be defriended but not very often. I think many are still iding themselves as JWs for their parents. Most of these friends, cousins are in their 40 's. My BIL 79 would love to have a FB account but afraid of my sister. He is constantly asking who I have on my FB account, I tell him all your neices and nephews, a great way to keep up at a distance.

Does the borg really produce great readers? How much did you actually read when in?
by likeabird ini've been reading a lot and learning even more (project deadlines to meet), getting this overwhelming satisfaction and feeling good.. and then i stopped and realised that i never got that feeling when reading borg publications.. i also realized that i have probably read more non-fiction books in the last month than i did during my whole life in the borg.. for all my reading (and i was fully in) i read no more than two wt books cover to cover.
none of my study books were studied cover to cover and wts were usually quickly underlined and rarely properly studied.
magazines were usually flicked through and resolutions to read them cover to cover rarely lasted more than a few weeks.. i did manage to read the bible through once - but that was because i was always afraid someone door to door would ask me if i had, so i figured i should just crack on with it.

My Mom has decided to turn me in... I am not afraid (Letter Inside)
by sosoconfused inthe only reason i am posting this is because i know many of you are going or will be going through something similar and wonder if it is worth it.
i personally feel that it is worth it regardless of what i lose.
my wife is backing me and i have my children.

Sosoconfused, I cried when I read your moms letter. The statements she believes are from her heart are a parrot of words she has been taught by this organizarion. Why do I make this staement. I have heard the same exact words from my sister, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. It amazes me how close each staement parrots the same ones I have heard over and over. If this is not brainwashing I do not brainwashing would be. My heart goes out to you, wife, children and parents. To even be put in the position to feel such a letter must be written. Follow your heart.

Unbelievable Experience in Yearbook
by gingerbread ina number of years back i heard a story of a young girl in a congregation ( i have some good friends in this hall ) who had an amazing field service experience.
it was so amazing that it was retold in the 2007 yearbook!.
it is retold in the highlight of the past year section.

Week of worry
by gma-tired2 inmy husband and i have had a long week worrying we would lose our niece, and yes the blood issue was very much part of the problem.
it is new to us to actually have the blood issue affect our family, but it really makes you think.
we would have immediately given her blood, but she and husband are still jws.

Thank you everyone. As of last night none of the Elders have even been to the hospital. These two young people are active in the congregation. No one from the Blood Liason has even been there. Neices mom has been there every step with them even though she is DFd. She is the one taking care of the other children, and sad the rest of us are unable to be there as we live in other states. Maybe they will start to question TTATT. Without family life gets harder.

exJW Psychology 103--Let's Reconsider "Confidentiality"
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inover the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.
" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.
it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

Billy you are right the more they said for us not to talk we started sharing with everyone. They totally lost control of trying to control a situation that honestly I knew was none of their business. They didnt want to know DIL ran home to mama and daddy because her new husband told her they couldn't have a vaction in addition to DC. I have often wondered if Elders had stayed out it, if they would have given marriage a second chance.

Yes, I do. 20 years ago we had a family problem. DIL left my son. The Elders kept telling my son not to talk to family or friends, told me not to talk to family, or friend same said to my mother and best friend, and yes we spoke to each other for SUPPORT. When Elders would come to one or another to caution us on talking about the matter, we just kept telling them we were talking for support as they werent giving my son any. They hated us because they couldn't keep subjects in the backroom and yes many of the brothers and sisters gave us their SUPPORT. I hope this makes a little sense too those of you reading.
Need to add yes we were all marked but since we were a family with long term standing in congregation, it didnt work the way they thought. They tried to reign my elderly outspoken mother but she looked at these Elders she had watched grow up and said to the " Who in the hell do you think you are. She got away with it. Love my mom.

It is new to us to actually have the blood issue affect our family, but it really makes you think. We would have immediately given her blood, but she and husband are still JWs. It looks as of today she has a chance of surviving because they pinpointed the infection, which now has her body fighting the infection. She had a lot of blood loss due to emergency surgery, (new baby) but the Drs didnt have a clue what was interferring with her recovery until the finally found an unrelated infection. We have a family that is a mixture of active, inactive, faders and DFd so this has been a week where at least some of us are still in communication. We love her and wish her a speedy recovery.

My sister said last night she is skipping service today to work in her yard. I'm sure she will enjoy her weekend more.
