My daughter got her A Levels yesterday and is off to university in September

she took english, maths and physics and acheived a* a* and a. .

it is the best thing possible for me, even better than seeing her opening birthday presents or the day she won the halloween fancy dress prize at school.. her dad died five years ago but she has coped and done so well at school.

it has shown me that despite what happens in life you can still do well and reach your goals, especially if you take a cult upbringing out of the equation!

my wife and i ran up against a brick wall trying to find out imformation on our search of finding my half brother.

will loislane pm me and offered us her service in finding him.

found us some very good leads but surprise, surprise she came across someone i totally forgot about from my childhood.

Lois Lane is a big hearted person who wants to help in any way she can. I am sure the congregation misses her even though they won't say it to her. Lois Lane stay true to yourself.

please don't take this the wrong way, i would love it for women to comment on this thread because i just can't understand something!!.

here's the pattern i see:.

mostly guys in here.. if the guys are married, their wives usually stay a jw, or it takes 3 times as much time to convince a woman to leave than a man.. if the guys have a jw father, the father is open-minded and can be more easily persuaded to leave.

I have been thinking on this subject for a while. Women are definitely more emotional than men. Speaking for myself only, I remember doubts since I was in my teens yet I always dismissed these doubts because of emotional attachment to family, I spent 50 years wondering why I always had doubts but never asking questions, I always felt I was the only one experiencing questions of why I understood scriptures differently from others. I attribute this to emotional ties with those I love. Even now at 65 I handle my JW family members from the emotional level.

I recently had two of these active JWs try to explain how it is a loving thing to shun both ended up in emotional distress. So how can a such loving arrangment cause so many people so much stress. Stress is not LOVING. Shunning is not LOVING. I choose to show true love.

Prime you offend me. Disfellowshipping is a devestating to every family it has happened in. I myself have never been df'd but I have family members that are. I have watched several family members who feel they must shun and I have WITNESSED the harm it has done to them. One family member is so afraid of the Elders she can no longer be included in family discussions because she is so afraid to say something that would be wrong. We can no longer even mention our df'd family members because of the stress it puts on her. She is near a complete breakdown from reality brcause of trying to obey 8 men in Bethel. I can reduce her to tears merely by mentioning these df'd family members. Now the other side of the family, I know for fact that they do not agree with shunning family members, but have been threatened with being df'd themselves for continueing contact. Is this a good situation for anyone. NO!!!....!!!!!! You make many people live in unnatural circumstances when you force members to live by unnatrual rule. Prime again you offend me by standing behind stupid rules that a loving God would not approve of.

I have been married to my husband for 47 years, both of us were raised JWs, married in KH. I was 18 and he was 21. We also experienced heavy petting, I believe this is a necessary step in getting to inow the one you are preparing to marry. I would NEVER confess anything to Elders, they are only men, Men who are no different than you and your fiance. We lived thru the oral sex mess and it was a horrible time for young JW couples, I saw many use this as an excuse to divorce. My marriage has been between two people, my husband and myself, we never invited Elders into our bedroom, it is none of their business. If your young man continues to invite uneducated men into your bedroom you are in for a rough marriage. We would definetly not allow Elders into our lives now. WE HAVE a son who married at 20 the Elders invited themselves into this young couples bedroom, the problem wasn't a sexual issue. This marriage never had a chance after the Elder qnd CO invited themselves in. If you fiance is not mature enough to live a life without confessing to Elders he is not mature enough for marriage. I wishing you a long loving life with or without him. I am a grandmother of two grandaughters, 16 and 20, I woukd never want any old uneducated men telling them how to live their lives.
