Will there ever be another defection from the GB?
by stuckinamovement inray franz decided to leave bethel and the governing body because he could not continue to promote or support the lies and half truths that were being told.
do you think that it is possible that one of the new boys might actually grow a pair of balls and stand up for what is true and reject what is false?.
there are so many doctrines that time has annulled.

Gayle, I don't know the answer to that, probably not. I agree, pretty amazing that they would come clean like that, and I believe they lost at least half their membership in doing so. Like I said it's been a while since I watched it.

Thought stopper: "We are the only ones doing what Jesus did."
by sabastious inthis is one of the top thought stopping phrases here.. it invalidates any argument presented against the organization.
it basically says this:.
"it doesn't matter who did what in the org, it doesn't matter how bad things get, we are the only ones doing what jesus did, therefore all errors and corruption are disregarded as we await the end.".

We just had someone come to our door the other day from a non-denominational church. Mormons are also known for preaching and I've had Southern Baptists come to my door before.

I don't know-you could have another Worldwide Church of God awakening.

Someone posted this before and I thought it was interesting. It's about an hour long. I watched it a while back and remember how interesting some of the similarities were to the WTS.

Good luck...just read "Captives of a Concept" last night (downloaded it for $7). Very good read and lots of ammunition for when JW family confronts me, which will be coming soon. If you haven't read it yet, I highly suggest before you write your letter.

I have not read everyone else's comments so if this was already stated, I apologize.
In a nutshell, if they were not doing anything wrong by their relationship to the UN, then why did they QUICKLY disassociate themselves when the Guardian article came out? The bible says that the GUILTY run when no one pursues.
Why not have a WT article explaining that it is okay to be an NGO instead of trying to cover it up?

Hi Bigmouth-excellent letter. I may borrow it to send to my mother-in-law. I have a letter from her on its way (I was forewarned) so I want to come up with a reply that might make her think. She, however, has never had doubts so not sure if her wall is even penetrable (sp).
You didn't come across as "I'm right, you're wrong" which can be a turnoff to a diehard JW (the irony). Were you going to include anything about the UN thing?
I look forward to other comments.

A, uh, belated introduction
by SweetBabyCheezits inquick bio: born-in, third gen jw, devout family, dad an elder/po, mom pioneered off/on, baptized at age 10 (my elder dad asked me to wait but i didnt), had overall good childhood, toured bethel, aux pio off/on, finished hs early, reg pio for a year then pio school, met amazing jw girl (also third gen devout), spent a year in community college (paid for by fairly conservative jw parents), got a good job, married amazing jw girl, appointed as ms, delivered public talks and parts on ca/dc, wife and i had first child.
it was a near-storybook jw life (except no bethel).
i had a couple of normal issues in teenage years, but sought the assistance from the elders and ironed it out.

SBC-I just read your introduction post after reading about your kangaroo court hearing.
Anyway, your story is so similar to mine-the hubby and I tried to reconnect with "the truth" after being inactive. The hubby was even on an assembly part about coming back after being inactive, but like you said, if the foundation is cracked, the doubts come back tenfold. The koolaid does taste good at first, but you quickly taste the bitterness.
Fast forward to today, we have each other and our children, but the rest of the family rarely speaks to us. Fortunately we do not live near any of them so that helps. We were told that we can still come visit but it would be awkward.
I feel so sorry for the posters on this board that have spouses and children still stuck in the cult. I can't imagine trying to deal with that.
