My husbands family has as little contact with us as possible. My mother-in-law called me the other day to tell me that she saw someone that looked like me and it made her so sad.

How did your family tell you to bug off? no contact, etc...
by carla ini am just wondering about what the usual method for jw's to tell you to get the heck out of their life until you shape up and come back to jah routine?.
one more question- let's say someone decided to go back but were possibly df'd, da'd or even just rumored to be an apostate, now they come back and they sit in the back and generally get treated like crap until the elders say their 'time out' is over.
can the family talk to them while they are in the dog house so to speak or do they have to wait until the elders give the ok?

she asked if we would watch it cause she knows that we don't think wts is being used by god.

Thanks everyone for the input...keep it coming.
I plan on watching the dvd and then sending it back to her with my thoughts. I want my letter to be composed of questions that she cannot answer. If nothing else, she will end up understanding why we don't put our faith in the organization and possibly leave us alone. More than likely she will conclude that we are total apostates and will definitely leave us alone.

She asked if we would watch it cause she knows that we don't think WTS is being used by God. I told her that we would watch it and send back to her. I'm thinking that it will be a good opportunity to write down a few things that we disagree on. Has anyone seen this dvd, if so what are your thoughts about it. I would like to start compiling info to send to her. All help appreciated.

My friend stopped going to the meetings over a year ago...just stopped all of a sudden. At first she got a lot of phone calls, emails and stop in's at our work to check on her but she avoided them at all costs. She finally sent an email to one of the elders telling him that she was dating someone not a witness and was enjoying a relationship to the fullest with this man. They still hounded her for a while but as far as I know, nothing ever happened. She basically confessed in an email that she was having sex with a worldly man and still nothing. I guess unless they officially meet with you they can't df you. So, AVOID meeting with them at all costs. You look like you might be coming down with the flu!

Hope you are doing well, haven't talked to you in a while. undercover-i like your reply, i think i will copy and paste it. thanks, everyone else for your input and b-day wishes. btw, my reply to her was, "why do you think i am celebrating b-days"? i got a text from her that she was going to call me today. she didn't, which i'm glad cause i was swamped at work all day but when she does i think i will use undercover's reply. a few months back i got an email from her because she had heard that i was apostate, so i'm sure it won't be a surprise to her when she finds out that i haven't been to a meeting in over a year. i'm at the point where i don't give a rats ass anymore, pardon my french. I'm finally FREE!!!

I actually deleted her as my fb friend and got a message from her about it. I told her it was an accident and re-friended her.
I love my sister and always will, she's a very sweet person but so blinded by the BS. With that said, we aren't close anymore so it wouldn't be a huge loss for her to never speak to me again.
What's funny is that on my birthday every year, she sends me a message like the one for this year..."You know Mom woke up with the biggest pain in her butt this morning! :)" That's her way of wishing me "Happy Birthday" without actually saying the words.

Working on the kids...not at ease.
by Aussie Oz insometimes i feel like i am going to lose the 'battle' for my kids.
it's hard when you only get to see them every second weekend and my boy even less now that he has his drivers licence...mates are more important than seeing dad you know.. daughter is the deeper thinking one i think.
i asked her who's message is this to which she made a guess at the witnesses.

I had the same problem with one of my sons. He insisted on getting baptized because all of his friends were and he was interested in a witness girl. He got disfellowshipped right after baptism and tried to get reinstated but they kept procrastinating it so he finally gave up and is now a free man, mentally.
He use to defend the cult because all of his friends were a part of it, but he's a very social person and soon developed friends on the outside and is now practically living with his non-JW girlfriend, so hang in there. It may just be a social thing right now.
