  The REAL reason subscriptions have stopped!

  i know there's a million more out there, so post 'em!.

  whilst speaking with pops last night, i asked how he felt about not getting his subscription any more.

  he was trying his best to be chipper about it.

  The WTS is doing what any other corporation in financial trouble would do...cut costs, scale back, trim the fat.

  The fact that people will now have to personally go to the KH to pick up their magazines is a bonus.

  By the way, I heard (straight from the mouth of a bethelite) that it was announced at morning breakfast that the reason for discontinuing the subs is because since Sept. 11th, donations have been down. Several from the Canadian branch have been asked to go back into the field.

  The UN issue was also discussed.

  intro: i am making a preface to kick-off my rebuttal so that when some of you read this, you can have a quick review of where i am coming from, and my views, and the tone i am trying to set.

  I whole-heartedly agree with EVERYTHING ladonna said, She spoke the truth.

  I do not know Amazing, nor do I know Amnesian, Julie, or Tina, so I I can speak without bias.

  Each one of you offers a great deal to this board. Your wisdom, intelligence and knowledge has benefitted so many. But the past few days have been disheartening to me. I thought I was leaving pettiness and jealousy behind when I stopped attending meetings.

  I probably have not read all of the posts between Amnesian and Amazing over the past few days, nor do I want to. My personal opinion, thus far is that there is a lot of hair splitting going on. It seems to me that Amazing, in his own way, is trying to best defend what was posted by Amnesian. He stated that he will deal with EACH issue that was raised, in his own due time. Shouldn't we give him the courtesy to do that, instead of attacking his every post?

  As far as I can tell, his character WAS attacked and he is trying to defend it. I would do the same, as would Amnesian, Julie and Tina. There are a lot of newly wounded soon-to-be Ex-JW's coming to this board. Everyday there seems to be a newbie. This place needs to be a refuge for them, just as it was for us when we started out.

  So please, ladies, allow Amazing to finish his rebuttal to Amnesian's post. Then, when he is finished, try to address issues that you disagree with without personal attacks. I still need this board.

  How many elders do you think will listen to this crap and finally say, enough! Surely, there must be some elders that will recognize it for what it really is. Unbelievable!

  By the way, I am probably toast now. I am:

  1) inactive
  2) a woman that works outside of the home to elevate my standard of living
  3) I also have been in contact via email with a bethelite about the whole UN thing - if they do monitor the bethelites emails, then my days are surely numbered. After he explained to me the lame excuse for the society becoming a member, I replied that it was bunk. That was a couple of weeks ago, haven't heard back yet.

  Thank you Amazing for another great post. I do hope that you will continue as many on this board do appreciate them.

  I think each one of us here has to some degree experienced injustice from the elders, ministerial servants or even those considered spiritually strong. I know that I have. I think that it is all of the little injustices that cause us to at some point stop and think about whether or not we are truly in God's organization.

  One scripture my husband often quoted to me while I was still a believing dub was the one where Jesus said, "you will know my disciples by the love they have among themselves." After a while it hit me that there was no REAL love among the witnesses. Only a handful of people, IMHO, are truly loving. Maybe I live in the wrong part of the earth, but that has been my experience.

  Couple the lack of love with the immense hypocrisy and it doesn't take long to realize that something is seriously wrong. So, in reality, I guess we owe a big thank-you to all of the self-righteous, judgemental hyprocrites that have affected our lives, otherwise we would still be thinking that we had the truth.

  Seriously, you brought out some excellent points. Unless you are a women in the borg, I don't think you can fully understand what it's like.

  I did think you pounced on Amazing a little too hard, but I'm sure he can take it. You do however, seem to paint all elders with the same paintbrush and I'm not sure I agree with that. There have been a few good elders along the way that were clueless about how the organization was really run. However, your description of elders describes the ones I've had dealings with over the years. I consider myself an independent female with a brain and I think that intimidates them. In virtually every congregation I've been in I have noticed that women like me are treated differently than the sweet, humble, mute sisters.

  What do you think the Dateline show will do?

  i am curious.

  does anyone really believe the dateline show will make very many current dubs "wake up" and leave?

  do you think it will bring the organization down?

  The only ones that I think the Dateline program will affect are the ones who have been silent lambs themselves. If I had been abused by an elder, MS or even a publisher still in good standing and saw the promo for the upcoming show, I would definitely tune in. If they are still hanging on to the notion that it is the truth and see that their's is not an isolated incident, then I think it will at least move them to see what else is wrong with the organization.

  I had high hopes that the UN thing would open the eyes of some of my family members, but of the ones that do know about it, they swallowed the library card excuse hook, line and sinker. But, I would have too several years ago. Fortunately, our brains are like computers and when enough evidence saturates our brains, eventually we hit overload. At lease it was that way for me. We all have different saturation points, we can only tolerate so much bullshit and then we say "enough!"

  As far as reforming the organization goes, it doesn't really matter to me, but if in the near future they would change their policy on shunning, blood and pedophiles, that would be a gigantic improvement. There will always be some of our loved ones that cling to the organization until they die, so a change with the aforementioned issues would help tolerate it.
