  Could you live with not talking to your JW family for the rest of your life?

  one of greatest obstacles to leaving the organization is the destruction of the family unit.

  as lady-lee wrote about oompa, i thought of this topic, the society says "this is their way to get wrong doing people to return to the loving arms of jehovah after they repent of their sins" .

  i know of men and women who are in good standings and hate their fellow spiritual jw family, i am willing to bet, wager that "jw-hatred" exceeds the worlds hatred, something about a self-assured group versus the "not so self assured' creates one plucked up structure.

  bigmac - I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Thank God that none of my children, nor my husband are still controlled by the organization. The people that I care about most escaped.

  Heaven - we are pretty much in the same boat with the rest of our families. I have one brother who left the organization before me (yep, I kind of shunned him for a while) and a sister who is still in. She doesn't shun me but makes no effort to communicate. My husband's family (all in) have nothing to do with us unless they need something. His mother recently wrote us a letter calling us apostates.

  Ziddina-so sorry that your parents were like that. I can't even imagine.

  Leslie - (good name, btw...wink, wink, same as mine) we tried going back also to feel apart of our families again. Just couldn't do it. Once you come out of the matrix, there's no going back in.

  my father passed around 9 this morning.

  he'd been in poor health for some time, but it still comes as a shock to have him gone.

  we are going to miss him terribly.

  This brother was in my congregation and came to my house for the bookstudy at one time. Actually, this was around the time he got disfellowshipped. From what I can remember, he was disfellowshipped because he made statements about 1914 being incorrect. He would ramble on about it, I just figured he was senile and let it go but the brothers couldn't have him spouting off such nonsense. Such a shame, his wife was a sweetheart. I always wondered what happened to him. It wasn't too long after that that I had my awakening.

  Can an inactive one be DFed?

They'll put some kind of clause in it, of course, like: "Would it be wise for true christians to continue associating with fellow brothers and sisters who have become inactive or avoided congregation meetings after elders have made attempts to reach out to them?"

  It's just a matter of time. Our friends and family still inside will "apply" the new point and begin the snubbing. Or we may begin receiving a lot of "mom guilt emails" because they will have been encouraged to make one last attempt to get us reactivated. If we're not receptive, they'll be encouraged to treat us like "goats" or "weeds." Trust me. The GB will take things into their own hands and attempt a pre-judgment sorting and separating work. They'll have to. This fading thing is driving them crazy. With one or 2 powerful guilt trips in a WT article, they can issue a command and the R&F will react just like trained dobermans."

  This has already happened in my family. We faded several years ago and my mother-in-law found out. She recently sent us a letter calling us apostates (since we have left the faith). The rest of her children and grandchildren pretty much won't have anything to do with us either and it's a very large family. Fortunately, we do not live near any of them. On my side, I only have 1 sister in and haven't heard from her in months.

  Help me wake up my friends please!

  i know that this may be impossible and will surely get me a judicial comittee but i'm tired of keeping mum about how i feel.

  so, i'm going to e-mail my two friends (two women under 35 who both got baptised within the last five years and one married a brother this year.they're both pioneers) and tell them what's bothering me and ttatt.. i'm going to do it tomorrow night.

  i have some points already but i may have left out some.

  Thank you for sharing. I have followed Oompa's posts for several years, he was always one of my favorites. So many of us only knew him through his posts and were shocked and saddened that he felt there was no other way to end the pain, I can only imagine the grief that you guys are feeling by having him as a friend in the flesh.

  What happens if the lights go out during a meeting?

  we all know of those kingdumb hells that don't have windows.

  and i never saw an a$$embly hell that had windows that would let light in that would reach the auditorium.

  so, what do they do if the lights go out during the middle of a boasting session?.

  I remember when I was a kid (before cell phones) the lights went out. It happened to be the night my dad got disfellowshipped so the meeting had to continue so they could announce it. I believe they used flashlights for the rest of the meeting.
