I think they would announce a cost for electricity even if they used solar power.

I am a Watchtower survivor
by Sour Grapes ini really like calling myself a watchtower survivor.
it is not demeaning to other people and is not a negative statement.
when a jdub sees that term it may make them think about why i would call myself a survivor.

If you’re paying attention, you can learn two things from this thread so far. First, you too can be a survivor from the watchtower! Second, don’t cross Anna Marina! 😏

I would like to share something that has worked for me in similar situations.
Two words: FOR NOW
That may be enough to get others to consider your situation as possibly temporary. And that may be enough to postpone the inevitable questions indefinitely.
”I have a personal situation that makes fulfilling my current elder responsibilities very difficult and stressful. I need to step down FOR NOW.”
Leave it open ended. You may know that you don’t plan to return to being an elder, but you don’t have to share that information with anyone.

Staying a Jehovah's Witness
by lriddle80 inwhy the shunning if someone leaves?
why are they working so hard to keep everyone in?
is it money?
-
User99
The biggest reason for shunning may be to keep those who think they have “the truth” from those who would love to explain why they are sadly mistaken. That seems to explain why family members can still discuss family business but are not allowed to discuss “spiritual matters”.

Have you watched the Smallfoot movie?
by Theonlyoneleft inso relatable to jw’s.. a funny children’s movie that has a song called “perfection”.. one part goes like this “ if there's a question, causing you to go astray, just stuff it down inside until it goes away”.. poignant song.

Reddit Post: Watchtower Appeals to Supreme Court
by APieceOfShitNamedTate infrom john redwood.... a preview of upcoming news:.
jehovah's witnesses are appealing to the supreme court of the united states, but this time it has nothing to do with preaching or saluting the flag.. it's all about child abuse.. specifically, the protection (or cover-up) of information, documents, and testimony of persons involved in cases of child abuse.. i will be covering this story in the coming weeks and months, but i thought i would share some of this news and try to distill it down as simply as i can.. i'd like to point out first that watchower has appealed to the supreme court in connection with their loss of yet another california child abuse case.
the chance that watchtower's appeal being will be heard by the supreme court is slim, but anything is possible.. what brought this about?.

Maybe this is a fulfillment for the “man of lawlessness” being revealed?

Does Anyone Remember Mr. Coffee
by new boy inthe apostate that hung around bethel back in the early 1970's.. i talk about "the frog" and "lady margret" in my book but knew nothing about "mr. coffee".
any help please.

Yes, I remember visiting Bethel around the mid 1980s. I was told that “Mr. Coffee” was an outspoken apostate and to avoid him. He was walking the streets just outside Brooklyn Bethel. He would be critical about coffee, then change the topic to Michael Jackson or whatever would capture the attention of onlookers.
