  WT Society holds EXTREME Responsibility for 1975 and False Expectations

  however- many jw's who have come into the jw organization from like 1985 forward virtually may have no knowledge of the wt society's 1975 debacle and false predictions of the end times or armageddon predictions.

  just like in in the book 1984 by george orwell the wt society has a way of not only erasing it's history so no newer witnesses will be aware of their false predictions, but also they are re-writing their history as if those false predictions never happened.. so for those of you here who may have never read or heard of how whipped up into an emotional frenzy witnesses were in the years just before 1975 by the wt society claiming the end was any day now- this threads for you.

  to see the pressure that was put on jw's by the wt society to get rid of everything before " armageddon " .

  The CO asked for money tonight at the meeting.

  i was shocked i do not know why as i have read that the co's were doing this but to hear it with my own ears was unbelievable.

  i do not go to the meetings but my husband still does and this week is the co's visit.

  i decided that i would listen in to his talk; i swear i have lost some brain cells by doing it but anywho.. he started out by talking about the old story that has been in the wt many times about a little boy who was seven and raised a chicken and gave the money to the society.

  The constant 'Deficit' at every Circuit Assembly was really annoying, expecially when it was fabricated by manipulation- send more to the Wt. than is in the coffers, then guilt trip the faithful to cover the loss.

  That always bothers me. Why are they resolving to donate to the WWW while there is a deficit? Answer: Because they know that people will think that is good and hear the word deficit and make up for it.

  And they know that the purpose of the assemblies is to get that donation to the WWW and all of the elders will OK it.

  Reminds me of how my congregation in former city was looking for land. They had it surveyed. They had a resolution asking if the invoice for work done should be paid. I thought 'duh, if the work has been done it has to be paid'. Like going to a restaurant and having a resolution as to whether the bill is paid. Dumb.

  What if you say you don't believe or trust in God anymore?

  people here have commented how in judicial meetings, they are asked if they believe that the gb or wts is god's representative or the fds is used by god.. what if you say you don't believe in god anymore because of all of the bad things happening around the world and god does nothing.. representatives of a god that does nothing, would also do nothing so how could one believe in them?.

  People here have commented how in judicial meetings, they are asked if they believe that the GB or WTS is God's representative or the FDS is used by God.

  What if you say you don't believe in God anymore because of all of the bad things happening around the world and God does nothing.

  Representatives of a God that does nothing, would also do nothing so how could one believe in them?

  i have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.

  some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.

  i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

  Why use towels at all?

  Wash hands, rinse, and let the air dry or leave them wet. That way when someone tries to shake hands, they can shake a wet hand.

  People, The CO's Tuesday and Sunday talks lalely are recycled District convention talks since the Society does not trust them with preparing their own. Thursday's talks are still their own.

  When Jehovah helped the Israelites cross the Red Sea, that spread around to the nations. Even in Rahab's time they knew of Jehovah's victories with Israel. He did great things for them.

  But now; Jehovah providing is finding some change in the couch cushions, or an envelope to cover some expenses.

  Why doesnt jehovah just give them next weeks lotto numbers ?

  One would expect Jehovah to do great and wonderful things, but where is that? How can we give glory to God?

  some people recently raised concerns about security of the site relating to whether forum members could be watchtower plants trying to obtain information about people.

  apparently, this was because a previous forum that was setup was either owned by or later handed over to someone who used it to collect personal information about people which was then used to harrass them.

  i don't know all the details, i'm just paraphrasing what i've heard and recognize that it's a concern to some people.. i want to first of all put people's minds at rest: i've been running this site for what will be 13 years next month.

  One problem with this site's integrity and privacy is that, some users go their companies' proxy servers, and those proxies will give warnings of malicious site for the advertising on the pages. Those may get higher visibility to those running the proxies and sites like this may get filtered by those proxies. People's browsing would not be as clean and transparent then and red flags may be generated. The user's ID would be logged.

  No, it was Nelson Barbour that changed the destruction of Jerusalem from 586 to 606.

  The Gentile times was already considered to be from 606 to around 1914 prior to Nelson barbour.

  Barbour just moved the destruction of Jerusalem and Russell followed that.

  what if you were informed that you are disfellowshipped and you flashed a huge smile and said, "nah.".

  i'm doing the fade but i reckon my big mouth could get me dfd.

  i know plenty who've been dfd for fornication/adultery, but never met one dfd for speaking the truth.

  But I am fading and in keeping my mouth shut I don't associate with people and don't comment.

  I had a meeting with an elder, DO and CO and I didn't say much. Just that I don't do meetings and service because I work too much and am too tired and they don't make the meetings interesting.

  I didn't get into doctrine much as there is a recent Watchtower study article that has wrong doctrine and so many Witnesses have been repeating that over the years, I feel like writing the Society about that, but a letter will come back to the elders as usual about such things.

  In that meeting the DO prayed how I was being disobedient to the FDS and that I should be aware and correct that.

  My belief is along the lines of Karl Marx's words of religion is the opium of the people and I don't follow the drug dealers anymore.

  How to tell family why you are no longer attending meetings?

  so it has been over a month, maybe closer to two that i haven't attended a meeting.

  my stress level has gone way down, and my life is pretty good right now.

  well as you know, there are tons of nosy witnessess.
