Do you expect people on here would know the answer to that question?

by XPeterX inthe bible says that the personal name of god is jehovah/yahweh/jah etc.thing is,we don't know it's correct pronounciation (or the pronounciation of any hebrew name).the name jehovah as we know it today means "he causes to become".someone who causes something to become is just called "creator" or "maker".right?he gave that name to his self so that people or the angels could call him by a name.also, how was he called before the creation of the anything?how can some people claim to be his friends if they don't know his actual name?discuss.

New book "Imitate their faith" aka fantasy bible stories
by Sapphy inthanks atlantis for posting a link to download the new book - i had a quick browse.... .
the book starts off with the now traditional 'letter from the governing body', it goes through the usual stuff re how wonderful the magazines are, how countless people write in to praise the articles etc etc, but it signs off: "with much love and every good wish...".
good wishes eh?

I am so sick of Bible stories and characters. I thought we were not supposed to exalt and worship people. These are normal people doing their thing, nothing special about them.
I mean the story of Hannah. What's the big deal? She prayed intensely. She did something one day of her life and it is recorded and honored forever. Many others did many more things for God and we never hear a peep about that.
And this drama about Esther. She did nothing.

Do they still discourage recording the a$$embĀ£ies and CONventions?
by punkofnice inif so then what are they afraid of?.
i haven't been to a single solitary meeting, conventions or a$$emby since 2010 but i do recall they would announce a discouraging of recording the sessions..

They don't discourage the reocrding of them. They are broadcast on low power FM to pick up with recorders.
They discourage the distribution of them.
The reason is because people will listen to them from the recordings and not attend their own and then they won't donate.
Just like what the RIAA was afraid of with Napster. Music sharing hurt their revenue. WTS thinks assembly sharing hurts their revenue.

The UNFORGIVABLE Sin: What Is It?
by Cold Steel injesus said: .
verily i say unto you, all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: but he that shall blaspheme against the holy ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
(mark 3:28-29).

Seeing as how sin leads to death; all have died; all have sinned and none have come back from sin excepting Jesus.
All sin has not been forgiven as all are still dead.

Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

Because it is more cost effective than waiting until they become adults.
Seriously, what is the problem? Isn't it better that they die as children before they get too much life going?

2013 District Convention God's Word Is Truth MP3 is ready!
by OneDayillBeFree inalright.
so i got a sendspace and uploaded the whole thing except for the songs and morning music.. the link to all the mp3's is here!
for some reason it starts with the last talk first but they're all numbered and titled according to the convention so it should'nt be too hard i hope.. do with them what you please, upload them to youtube, send them to friends & family, or just see how far you can stomach some of the "fine spiritual food that the faithful and discreet slave has prepared for us this year".. some key talks you might wanna listen to are 12 symposium: the truth sets us free, 16 believe inspired truth, not inspired error, 20 symposium: reject what is false!

What I noticed is that the convention has nothing to do with the theme.
No teaching about God's word being truth.
It is all about conduct.
The obligatory: Marry only in the Lord and don't associate with disfellowshipped family members, talks. Same things from the Needs of the circuit parts. Like, why do they care except that such things won't help people stay in the congregation and a solid congregation is what they want.
Scripted demonstrations on studying and internet interruptions, and commenting at meetings.
That one about the progressing of the organization in the last few years from the literature changes is just lies. Why can't they just say that revenue is down and expenses are up so they are cutting back, instead of stating that with the cuts they can do more translating, etc. They are so fearful to where it becomes dishonest.

I was wondering why the WT society does not want us to discuss business before and after the meetings at the Kingdom Hall?
by Iamallcool ini know their answer.
i think it is all bs.
lets discuss!.

Because they only care about promoting their business. I.e. what leads to more in the donation box.

Deuteronomy 18: 20-22 and the FDS's failed prophesies.
by braincleaned inwhen jw's come to my door, i don't tell them i am an ex, just because they will move on and you will not have helped them see the obvious.. so i show them this scripture, and the new wt of july 2013 makes it even easier to confirm that new light is just moving the goalposts.. if jehovah really exists, they are in for some heavy crapstorm from him!.
deuteronomy 18: 20-22:.
20however, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that i have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die.. 21and in case you should say in your heart: how shall we know the word that jehovah has not spoken?.

I am so tired of this scripture being used as an attacking point.
That scripture was originally meant as a way to identify the messiah and the false messiahs,
and was not meant for after that time.
It told them to look for one like Moses and can do more than Moses.
There would be many that would claim to be him and even do signs like Moses, so that was to tell them to believe them all.

Symposium with a talk about "Human Apostates"
by Prime in"there is a symposium with a talk about "human apostates" that is very slanderous and defamatory and has the ex-jw blogosphere up in arms over it.".
if a person doesn't fit the description outlined in this talk, the talk isn't referring to you.. .

Not so fast.
One thing that I noticed is that it says apostates stop and discourage the preaching work.
However the point of that statement is that the preachers are their sales force. One way to not get people to drop off the sales force, is to get them to believe that stopping or slowing down is a sign of apostacy and they don't want that.
It's all about keeping the sales force active.
