Beard update
by Coded Logic inso it's been over a month since i decided to grow a beard.
the mustache and chin have come in fuller than i ever imagined - while the cheeks leave me wondering if i'll ever grow enough hair to make it not look so wildly unkept and patchy (if anyone has any advice here it'd be much appreciated).
but in the mean time i'll give it another month and see how it goes.. .

The implement of Christ’s death
by lastmanstanding insimple physics.. the timber that was used to execute jesus had to be substantial.
thus, its weight could not have been carried entirely, but rather it had to be dragged.. get a log with no crosspiece, one substantial enough to nail a man to, and try to drag it through town.
try to get a hold of it without it sliding out of your grip.

The Bible says it was not a cross by prophecy
Jesus made reference to Moses' lifting up of the copper serpent in the Wilderness.
John 3:14-15 14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone believing in him may have everlasting life.
That reference was from:
Numbers 21:7-9 7 Finally the people came to Moses and said: "We have sinned, because we have spoken against Jehovah and against you. Intercede with Jehovah that he may remove the serpents from upon us." And Moses went interceding in behalf of the people. 8 Then Jehovah said to Moses: "Make for yourself a fiery snake and place it upon a signal pole. And it must occur that when anyons to look at it and so must keep alive." 9 Moses at once made a serpent of copper and placed it upon the signal pole; and it did occur that if a serpent had bitten a man and he gazed at the copper serpent, he then kept alive.
When they looked upon the copper serpent they were saved. That is a prophecy leading to our looking to Jesus likewise who had died upon a pole. Our putting faith in him will save us.
It had to be as the copper serpent was set upon.
However the copper serpent did not end there.
2 Kings 18:1-5 18 Hez·e·ki'ah the son of A'haz the king of Judah became king. 3 And he continued to do what was right in Jehovah's eyes, according to all that David his forefather had done. 4 He it was that removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars to pieces and cut down the sacred pole and crushed to pieces the copper serpent that Moses had made; for down to those days the sons of Israel had continually been making sacrificial smoke to it, and it used to be called the copper serpent-idol. 5 In Jehovah the God of Israel he trusted; and after him there proved to be no one like him among all the kings of Judah, even those who had happened to be prior to him.
For centuries the copper serpent, something that saved them once, was being used as an idol. The same is going for the instrument that people believe Christ died upon. They worship the cross by wearing it as a necklace, or earrings. People have it in their churches, houses, etc. But it is still idolatry just as it was back then.

Today's WT Paragraph 4
by Slidin Fast ini thought that this little gem deserved a thread of it's own.. 4. why is it important for us to be present at the memorial if at all possible?.
4 reflect on the importance of attending the memorial.

"Keep doing this in remembrance of me."
How can we remember someone whom we've never met?
It should be 'keep doing this in remembrance of the story you've read about me'
The memorial was for the apostles and those back then.

Please explain!
by Freedom rocks inhi please can someone explain this in laymans terms for me coz i be ever got it as a jw and still don't.
it doesn't make sense to me.
bible chronology indicates that god’s kingdom was established in heaven in 1914. this is shown by a prophecy recorded in chapter 4 of the bible book of daniel.. overview of the prophecy.

TD,
the date, or rather the method predates Russell. John Brown back in 1820s taught that the 7 times was from 605 to 1914,1915,1916 area.

Easy explanation.
Jehovah told David in 2 Samuel 7:12-14 that he would establish his kingdom and his descendants forever.
That lead down to Jesus or was supposed to. But Jesus didn't become king. So what happened?
In Dan 4 it was put on pause, for 7 times, 2520 years from 607 to 1914.
The kings were sitting on Jehovah's throne and he was sovereign. So when they stopped being sovereign, it was paused. That was in the 3rd year of Jehoiakim which was in 607 as Jerusalem was destroyed in 587.
Note anything that requires Jerusalem to be destroyed in 607 is wrong, because the prophesy was not about Jerusalem, it was about the kings in the line of David being sovereign.
It all makes sense when you understand it, which it does not sound like you do.

Why would the murder-suicide be because of shunning from 5 years ago? And how does the woman and others tie it do that?
"According to Taylor, Lauren Stuart and Daniel Stuart, 47, wanted to send their children to college, but the religion forbids that. They did so anyway. "
The religion does not forbid that. And why would that lead to disfellowshipping? Why would anyone in the religion even know where one goes to school?
