The Supreme Court says marriage is a constitutional right. Thus there is no need for a license or permit. If preaching is a right and we don't need a permit, then same with marriage.

I don't get it - Marriage in WT world
by menrov inin wt world, a marriage is only seen (considered) as legal if it is registered in the municipality (or similar governmental organisation).
now, if you look at the scriptures, there was no requirement to have a marriage legally registered in order to be considered married.
is it not strange that the wt subjects themselves to and adopts an worldly arrangement setup but governments rules by satan when it comes to a marital status?.

NY Tribunal Rejects Fuel Tax Refund For Religious Group
By Abraham Gross · July 16, 2020, 4:41 PM EDT
In its consolidated decision, the tribunal upheld an administrative law judge ruling that denied Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York's 2015 claim for a refund of tax on petroleum businesses, saying that the organization couldn't claim the exemption for dyed diesel sold to nonprofits. The petroleum businesses tax is passed through to purchasers as part of the selling price.
The judge said the organization was disqualified from the exemption because the fuel trucks that received the fuel from suppliers and subsequently fueled the construction equipment were also capable of fueling nonexempt motor vehicles, even if the organization did not allow it.
The organization argued that interpretation was too narrow and would make it impossible to claim the exemption. The tribunal, however, agreed with the judge's interpretation of the limitation and said the exemption could still be claimed if a supplier directly fueled the equipment instead of depositing the fuel into an intermediary owned by the nonprofit, such as a fuel truck.
As a result, the tribunal upheld the denial of a $67,000 refund for the period of Sept. 1, 2013, through Dec. 31, 2014, a $65,000 refund for the 2015 calendar year and an $11,000 refund for 2016.
The case is In the Matter of Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York Inc., case numbers 827916 and 828547, in the New York State Tax Appeals Tribunal.

The Bible says Trump will win. Daniel 2 says the feet is iron mixed with clay. The Iron is Trump, his administration and his supporters and the clay are the Democrats and those against Trump. It must continue for 4 more years to continue the prophesy unless the end comes on 11/3

Awesome Video on debunking 1914!!!!! Follow it carefully to the end!!
by Beth Sarim ini don't know if anyone has stumbled across this video, but it just blew may away.
omg!!!

I don't think he even understands 1914, so many disbelieve it because they don't understand it. They are just attacking Nelson Barbour and not dealing with what the meaning of 1914 is.

Rolf Furuli Disfellowshipped Last Week
by Sea Breeze inwell known norway elder and watchtower doctrine apologist, (rolf furuli) was disfellowshipped a few days ago for the crime of expressing opinions contrary to some watchtower dictates.. like wt leadership in the past, they have no problem eating their own..

"So they just made one of their staunch supporter into an enemy, sounds good"
They do that with so many loyal ones. The loyal one does something that the WT does not approve of and they get rid of that one. They make their supporters into enemies.

"I applaud Furuli for speaking up against the Watchtower scam and deceit, what I don't understand is how he denies that the Governing Body protects pedophiles. He also writes in his book that he still beleives the JW cult is the true religion. He also defends the 607 date for the fall of Jerusalem. Typical JW doublespeak."
The governing body does not protect pedophiles. How can they? JWs are the true religion. 607 is the date for the start of the gentile times, but not the date of the fall of Jerusalem.

Removing Historic Monuments and Statues - Does the Term "Historical" Make it Right or Wrong?
by RubaDub inafter further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.
you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.
would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?

Doesn't the changing of history and eliminating the bad remind you of how the Watchtower has changed their history, removed things from the bound volumes, changed photographs when the people were disfellowshipped, etc.

JW Response to COVID
by optimisticskeptic ini haven't been on here in quite some time so i apologize if i missed a similar thread already (i did look for one :) ) anyways, just to be clear i think the jw response to covid in general has been really positive and proactive and they've done really well trying to educate people on covid, doing zoom meetings, etc to prevent spread within the congregations.
the part that i find interesting is how compliant and non-apocalyptic the branch has been during all of this.
even as someone who's a bit of a skeptic i found myself wondering if this might be the beginning of the end between covid, economic upheaval, and blm.

Kingdom Hall costs are down to nothing. That is one reason they will keep meetings closed. And what about magazine printing. With no field service, there is no need for printed publications. No public Watchtowers or Awakes. No Study copies. Everything in Pdf.
Any word on literature production?

I’m Seeing Some Trump Fatigue Out There
by minimus ini’ve heard from a few trump voters that they are getting tired of the whole trump thing.
one person yesterday said he lies.
another person said she hears from her clients in her business that the constant drama and push back from all sides against trump is fatiguing.. i remind people that before this worldwide pandemic, we had the best numbers in jobs.

So what if Trump lies. It's not about Trump. I was against trump until the Kavanagh hearings. Then it was a case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." My enemy is the metoo and that is Trump and Kavanagh's enemy. Thus I support Trump.
The Metooers are destructive and do not support due process.
Also the ones that are against Trump are just evil. They insult and call names and are just focused on being against Trump. Look at the Russia investigation and the impeachment. All a waste.

John 5:28,29.
by Lost in the fog inwe used to use this scripture to show that there was going to be a future resurrection.
but recently i got to thinking about it.
if the apostle paul was right in saying that the righteous on death would be changed in the twinkling of an eye from earthly life to heavenly glory why would there be a future resurrection needed for the righteous?
-
Rattigan350
It sounds like you don't understand the Bible. Simple as that.
The Jews didn't believe in the heavenly life because it was not taught to them. It was a new thing that Jesus was taught because this going to heaven things would start after Jesus died. So John 5 was about the earthly resurrection.
What Paul said occurs after 1918 when the anointed die, the are immediately raised to heavenly life as spirit beings.
