Exercise Patience Regional Convention
by Rattigan350 inthe theme of the in person convention this year is "exercise patience".
looking at the convention map, they are really using their assembly halls and they are using smaller civic centers or city arena.
no more huge stadiums.. are they not expecting a great crowd?

Are they not expecting a great crowd? Keeping their expenses low?

Article titled: No Big Deal, Just American Pickers Star Danielle Colby In Her Birthday Suit On A Beach Somewhere
Further down in the article it says:
"She’s spoken and posted about burlesque in the past, saying “it’s part of [her] life journey.” She said her upbringing as a Jehovah’s Witness inspired her to want to go in a different direction after seeing a burlesque performance in Chicago. What followed became a hobby, and from the post above, seemingly a way to make money outside of being Mike Wolfe’s partner in all things vintage."

How Will They End 1914 Teaching?
by EmptyInside ini'm sure this has been discussed, but 1914 has to go away.
instead of, the overlapping generation teaching, they should have just ditched 1914. .
they should have done that a long time ago with 1975. it's the last of the teachings in the charles taze russell era.. i'm thinking they just will stop talking about it, and it will be out of the mind of the rank and file loyal witnesses .

Jeffro said "Can you imagine if JWs did abandon 1914 though. Poor old dupes like ‘scholar’ would have to start saying 1914 and 607 BCE never actually made any sense."
1914 is not a JW originated doctrine.
It started with a prophecy given by Nathan to David for his offspring to be king on Jehovah's throne forever leading to Jesus.
That was put on pause when the kings in the line of David were made vassal to Babylon in 607 and at the destruction of Jerusalem in 587. Daniel was given a time table of 2520 years for that pausing and that ran from 607 to 1914 when Jesus was installed as king in Heavenly Jerusalem.
It is known and written and can not be done away with. Jesus is king and nothing can change that.

"Jesus worked closely with his Father, Jehovah, helping Him to create all other things. "
That is no change. Jesus helped with the creation. That is how dinosaurs came to be. Jesus like, any child, like to play with them.

anonymous said "the Bible makes clear that for salvation you need to partake of the flesh and blood of Christ. It’s a cornerstone of the Christian faith for most denominations. John 6:53–57 - it’s a command from Jesus himself."
"Most truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.u 54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and I will resurrectv him on the last day; 55 for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and I in union with him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will live because of me."
People rejected Jesus' sayings because they thought he was referring to his literal flesh and blood, which was against the Law. But he was referring to putting faith in himself as the sacrifice. The last supper was just a symbol of that but it does not mean that one has to eat bread and drink wine on a particular day.
Jesus does not give commands.

JWs and the constitution of the United States
by Vanderhoven7 injws will not salute the flag.
however they will support the us constitution which gives congress the right to establish the military and to declare and to make war.
isn’t that tant amount to supporting the country going to war?.

" how about Watchtower supporting the United Nations as a Non Governmental Organization for ten years up until 2000"
How about it? I don't understand what the problem is.
True, the UN is the image of the wild beast, however Babylon, and Rome were tools that Jehovah used to punish unfaithful Jerusalem. The wild beast is a tool that Jehovah will use to attack the harlot, Babylon the Great.
The Watchtower being an NGO of the UN is not a bad thing. Yes, the UN will be destroyed. But until then, Revelation does not say that it is bad.

" which gives congress the right to establish the military and to declare and to make war. "
Where does the idea come from that Jws are against war and the military?
Israel had wars. David and Saul were the military.
The idea is that JWs are against nationalizing the military and thus creating wars from country vs country, all of these little ants fighting each other when the focus should be on God's kingdom.

The Hubris of the Governing Body
by cofty init's difficult to comprehend how arrogant the members of the governing body must be to sanction much of the content that appears in their literature.
they identify themselves as the 'faithful and discreet slave' - that alone requires an astonishing degree of pride.
but what is even more amazing - arguably to the level of insanity - is the way they then use that phrase to elevate themselves above the rest of the organisation.
-

"They identify themselves as the 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' "
Why does that even matter?
Because Jesus focused on that for a second among other endtime statements? But he gave no further explanation.
Why does that then make it relevant?

Do you know of any church that KNOWS God?
by the-MadJW ini mean, the jws have many faults, as each of us have.. do you know any other group that does?.

One of the things that annoys me about JWs is that they say they go in the ministry to teach people about Jehovah.
Then I wonder: What is there to teach about Jehovah?
He created the heavens and the earth and then neglected it.
There are a bunch of details about what people think that God is pleased with or displeased with, but no one knows God.
