  Do You Look Down on "Religious" People Now That You're No Longer a JW?

  i try to respect everyne's opinions on religion but i find myself thinking, "what's wrong with these people?

  I'll jump in here and be frank. I do feel that religious people are a little inferior in their overall perception of the universe.

  However, I also feel that some religious people have experienced a higher level of conciousness and may have difficulty getting their questions answered by science. I understand why they may have chosen a path that leads them to religion. There will always be a religious belief out there that will coincide with your own perception of your experiences.

  I also feel that religion is the only source for morals and ethics for a good portion of our society that just doesn't have any common sense.

  i know i haven't posted here in a while but maybe some of you will remember me.

  i've been having a sad night and i needed to tell someone that i thought would care.

  it's too late to talk to anyone on the phone so i thought i would talk to you guys.

  Thank you all for your suggestions and support. From time to time I need to know that I'm not the only one who's felt this way. That's why I found this place years ago. I wanted to talk to some that had gone through some of the same things. By your comments and expressions of love and concern, I learn that I do have the strength to do what should be done. I'm reminded that love can penetrate the walls that come up between us for various reasons. There are some things that I can do differently in the next few days and weeks and I intend to do that thanks to your encouragement. I do wish there was something I could do to fix everything. Sometimes I think that if I had played the game of life well I would have the time and money to fix the problems of everyone I love.......Death is an inevitable part of life but it's hard to watch her decline.   See I knew you guys would come through for me. Thank you for your love and prayers. I don't really want to be cheered up because I sometimes have a tendency to supress my strongest emotions but I just needed to feel some love as I sit here remembering the love of my mother. I wish everyone could have had a mother just like mine. I'm sure if she knew how I was feeling right now she'd love to comfort me and maybe even lay a cool rag on my forehead and talk to me soothingly. Tim

  I know I haven't posted here in a while but maybe some of you will remember me. I've been having a sad night and I needed to tell someone that I thought would care. It's too late to talk to anyone on the phone so I thought I would talk to you guys. I've always seen and sometimes experienced the love of the people on this board. Anyway....My mother is having a hard time in her battle with cancer. I got a call from my Dad tonight and it really triggered a lot of sadness for me. They're both still Jws but I still love them. I miss my Mom. I'm sad that she'll soon be gone and I wish ...... hope she will understand that I've never stopped loving her and I never will. TimB

  Why didn't Sadam........?

  going back to the pre-war rhetoric it seemed to me that even the german and russian intelligence along with the english and american intelligence and previous inspectors all agreed that sadam had left over (and possibly made more) chemical wmd.

  proof seemed to be provided about what they *knew* he had at *some point* and it couldn't be accounted for.. it seems obvious now that sadam did, in fact, destroy it long ago.. my question - why didn't he just prove it to the inspectors?

  why not avoid all of this if he could?

  I have always thought that sanctions were a bad idea and I've never seen them accomplish their goal. I've been told that the stratagy behind it is that the people will get so upset about not having all the things they need that they will overthow the dictator causing the problem. But the people end up seeing the countries enforcing the sanctions as the bad guy and their poor dictator is doing the best he can. Or they simply don't have the resources to build a resistance force.

  Actually, I don't know how you can blame the US for the trade sanctions. The sanctions were UN sanctions. Voted on by the voting members of the UN. (not the JWs since they didn't actually have a vote). Even if it were true that the US was the sole decision maker in this issue, do you have any evidence that the people who died in that period wouldn't have died if they had been able to trade with the rest of the world? How many of those were killed by Sadaam and buried in the mass graves? How many died of natural causes?

  Don't get me wrong. I think that this conflict has been mishandled for the last 20 years but I don't think it's necessary to fabricate inflamatory propaganda.

  My niece is OUT!!!!!! yeah!!!!!

  some of you don't know, but for the last two years, i've been trying to get my niece out of the clutches of the society.

  it's been a long road.

  since my sister died, my mother has been using a huge guilt trip on my niece.

  Keep it up April. You're doing the right thing. This is one time when it's obvious. Don't ever think that it may be easier for her to stay a JW. It won't. She needs you even if she doesn't want it. It's worth fighting for. Go for it!

  Keep in mind how the JWs keep people enslaved. With ignorance. We can battle that with knowledge. Every question presented to her will stay with her and she will find the answer. Ask her questions. Questions that she will want to find the answer to.

  What Was "IT" That Finally Made You Leave The "Truth"?

  There seemed to be a long fuse leading to the end of the "truth" but the bomb was 607. Boom! A couple of hours of research on the internet and it was over for me.

  I keep hearing people say that it was the lack of love and I have to question that to a certain degree. I do agree that for me the friends I've made since are better quality but I did experience a lot of love from others in the JW religion. I think the reason this is such an issue with so many is because the JW's claim to be the only people in the world capable of love. You come to expect more but you actually see a little less. When the love is denied for religious reasons it leaves a wound and eventually you can't take it anymore. Right?
