this thread will hopefully serve as the platform for a friendly debate about the issue of how much respect the watchtower society deserves from ex-jehovah's witnesses.

Do the Witnesses deserve respect? First of all we have to break this question down. There is really more than one question here.
1) Do the rank and file members of the JW's deserve respect?
2) Do the Elders deserve respect?
3) Do the Worldwide organizational leaders (Governing Body and Traveling Overseers) deserve respect?
4) Does the Religion itself deserve Respect?
Is that fair enough to start with?

LOL, Ok Mindchild. I will take the challenge but I will not champion the WTS. I will play devils advocate for the large group of honest, hardworking, beautiful people that are still captives of this cult. I can easily do so since my family is still in the cult. I do not think my family is evil, either individually or as a whole.
I will be happy to discuss this but not on this thread. Please start another thread that does not imply a flame war. I do have to leave the house for a few hrs so I won't be able to respond for a while.

It was just temporary insanity. Most of us have felt the urge to renew the lifelong friendships we have lost. Especially when we are feeling down. Do your best to be civilized human beings and don't treat him like a troll.
Mindchild, You should be ashamed of yourself for even starting this thread when you know the man is obviously suffering. Putting someone on trial suggests that he is a criminal. That, my friend, is going to tough to prove. In the meantime you submit a friend of this board to humiliations that he doesn't deserve. If I have mistaken the tone of your post then I reckon some others have too. You might want to reconsider.
