How many *educated* adults are being converted into the Jehovah's Witnesses nowadays?
by EdenOne inthe other day i was sitting in one of those meetings where the public talk was absolutely mind-dumbing.
by minute 5 i couldn't take it anymore paying further attention to what was being said, so my mind wandered.
i looked around to my own kh and started to notice something.

It seems to me that the majority of those few who
a) Were adults
b) Without *any* family ties to the JW's
c) Possessing a higher education degree
and still decided to become baptized Jehovah's Witnesses did so in circumstances of emotional vulnerability: Either they were emotionally engaged with a member of the congregation, or they had suffered emotional damage (abuse, divorce, loss of a close relative, solitude) and were impressed with the "love-bombing" they've experienced when coming to the congregation. Very interesting - and very telling.

Those who have been baptized - in what marks a positive statement of commitment to the JW faith tennets - in the last, say, 15 years, are either children of Jehovah's Witnesses or people with a relatively poor (many bordering illiterate) secular instruction. Forget the wonderous experiences told in the JW publications - what is your experience in your Kingdom Hall, in your congregation? In the last 15 years, how many: a) adults that are b) unrelated with JW by family ties and c) possessing a higher education degree have become baptized Jehovah's Witnesses?
In my KH = Zero.
What's your experience?

How many active JW's use this forum as a source of information?
by LogCon inthe numerous comments and experiences from this sites contributing posters add a real flavour to a persons overall knowledge of the society, both present day and historically.
i can well see how even many, many dyed in the wool witnesses skim or even study this site.
if i was still attending and seriously supporting the society, i would be fascinated to read these comments.

The List, by "Prominent Bethelite"
by morloc ini occasionally pop through here to catch up on the latest, but this time i'm going to pop my own post on here.. some of you internet oldsters may even remember this.
my first experience on the internet regarding discussions about jehovah's witnesses and the watchtower took place on a now-obscure usenet group, before i eventually stumbled across hourglass2.. during those days, there was a poster who went by the name "prominent bethelite," an otherwise anonymous individual whom i remember most for an extensive, exhaustive compilation of date-oriented remarks, predictions, and expectations by the watchtower organization down through the decades of its history.. it became known as "the list" and it's definitely lengthy... but a fascination look at the abundance of errant statements made through the watchtower's history.. if you're curious, it's been available for a long time on hourglass2's site, and can be seen using the link provided below.. the list, compiled by prominent bethelite (1999).
that's about it for this stop through here.

Plans for huge Jehovah's HQ take shape
by insidetheKH inplans for a huge jehovahs witness commune on the outskirts of chelmsford are gathering pace.. the international bible students association, the charity which manages jehovahs witnesses printing and literature distribution, wants to create a new british headquarters.. the 82-acre site (about 15 football pitches) at temple farm site, off ship road, west hanningfield.. the plans include a printery - producing bible-based literature - admin and language translation of?ces, video and sound production studios, an auditorium, training centre and workshops all on site.. plus there will be one and two bedroom apartments - for up to 1,200 residents and visitors - along with onsite caterers, laundrettes and healthcare facilities.. the site would also have its own energy centre - making it self-sufficient - and a new access road would also be built from temple wood.. a resident from stock, 60, who didnt want to be named, said: its all a bit sci-fi if you ask me.
its a very unusual development, a commune really.
i wouldnt say i was against it as it is all a bit of a mess at that site at the moment.. the land, currently occupied by a car breakers yard, was removed from the green belt by chelmsford city council in 2008 and earmarked for employment use.. ibsa agreed to buy the land from its current owners in december, as long as they get planning permission for the project.

Cofty, I can't disclose publicly what happened regarding UEFA without revealing too much about me. But it was serious enough to make me consider writing a letter of protest to them. But most likely I'll forget about it in a couple of days, so why bother.
But trust me, they only care about the big money people. Everyone else is treated somewhere half-way between dirt, slaves and dogs (in this order) ...
