Can we make definitive assumptions on what material was written first? As far as I could read, the first two chapters of 2 Esdras are thought to be much older than the rest of the work. My impression is that it should pre-date Revelation (less sophisticated theology), but ... that's just little ole me saying.

Such resemblance with Revelation!

Welcome, Garrett.
First and foremost - seek professional help for your depression issue. Don't for a minute rest thinking that Bible counsel or getting more deeply engaged in any kind of theocratic activity will be of genuine help. You need professional counseling and most likely, medication. Once you're on medication, it's really important that you stick to it under your doctor's supervision. Most JW's have a tendency to downplay medical science in favor of "natural meds" or other kinds of "alternative therapies" offered by charlatans that often are JW's themselves or their relatives. Don't follow that trend.
Then, use that depression to your advantage - as an excuse to fade from the field service, KH meetings, and evade shepherding calls from Elders. Eventually they will give you some room (mainly because they don't want to deal with it, anyway) and then you will have some room to breathe. You will, from time to time, deal with guilty feelings, and those may add to your anxiety and depression, but they will too start fading away. Just don't allow yourself to be guilt-driven back into the Org. You're young and don't have much 'baggage' (children, relatives) within the Org, and, like others have said, it makes things so much less complicated.
In the meantime, try to find some interesting activity, a hobby, a pet, that may safely capture your attention and affection away from the KH.

basically, if you don't know spanish, it boils down to this: (my personal editorial of what i've read).
I was just reading the article in the "El País" newspaper.
It seems they were after those JW's who sold properties and persuaded them to invest in their scheme, in the shape of an investment company called "Rural New Life y Mutua Mas Vida". Looks like they "re-invested" the funds in properties. (It mentions estates in Marbella and Lanzarote, tourist resorts). I bet that, in the craze of the real estate market back then, some deals were initially profitable, but soon they were caught in the curve.
The 1300 may well be solely the number of people that participated in some sort of class-action lawsuit, or identified victims by the court. The number of those who actually donated may likely be much larger than 1300. In that scenario, this story gains more plausibility.

Since 2008, property value in Spain has depreciated over 50% - those who sell are desperately in need of the cash, and can't afford surely to re-invest it in whatever. However, if this took place around 2001, that was the height of the real-estate fever in Spain, where property was (artificially) inflating in value over 8% per year. Some good opportunities for scammers in that climate ...

1300 members donated 170.000.000 € ?? Really?? That's an average of 130.769,23€ per publisher. (146.950,00$ USD) Something's not right about that figure. Even if 35 very wealthy brothers could donate 70.000.000€, (two million each), that would still average 79.051,00 € on each of the 1265 remaining publishers. That's more or less one year's salary of a well-paid CEO of a sizeable corporation in Spain. That's simply not believable, even more considering the economical crisis in Spain. The Bethel in Spain is the only entity that could hypothetically hold so much money.

dear brothers:.
They figure out that:
a) If you're smart enough to get a college degree
b) If your're smart enough to see through the WTS bulls**t regarding 'higher education', go ahead and get a diploma in spite of pressures from Elders
AND
c) after all that, you're still able to look at yourself in the mirror and stay "in"
then you're just the kind of person they need for their legal department.

did anyone notice this wt's subtle attack on wikipedia?
they wrote (from the 2011 yearbook of jehovah's witnesses, pp.
9-10. source: 'tracing all things with accuracy'):.
The Watchtower Society will dismiss any website that isn't supportive of their beliefs. A "neutral" view, an "independent" view, or a site that will display the "opposite view" for the sake of balance of opinion, will be a big no-no, nearly as dangerous as outwardly "apostate" websites. Even those that are pro-Jehovah's Witnesses aren't in any way endorsed nor are individual Witnesses encouraged to take part in those. In fact, if it were the GB's way, the only website that any faithful JW could ever access to would be the ubiquitous JW.org.
