the decision to allow fair use of copyrighted material could have an impact on the wts' attempts to use copyright laws to pull content that is critical of them.it is ironic that this ruling was made in response to one of prince's songs.. (this article was posted on exjwreddit)demand that mother remove home video from youtube backfires.
a music companys demand that youtube take down a 29-second home video of two children dancing to a song by prince backfired monday when a federal appeals court used the case to make it harder for copyright-holders to act against brief, non-commercial uses of their material.recording companies, motion picture studios and other copyright owners issue numerous takedown notices each day, targeting everything from home videos to campaign ads that include segments of songs or newscasts.
when a copyright-holder tells a website like youtube that one of its postings violates the holders exclusive rights to license the material, federal law requires that the posting be removed immediately.but the ninth u.s. circuit court of appeals in san francisco said the copyright-holder must first consider whether such a video amounts to fair use of the work, making it eligible to be legally posted.

despite the governing bodys best efforts, members do leave the faith.
the governing body insists there is no valid reason for leaving the religion.
in fact, their brand new brochure, return to jehovah, lists only three reasons why someone might leave the religion: misplaced guilt, being mad at a witness, and being busy with life.. but of course, there are several valid reasons for walking away from the faith, all of which are much more damning than the sanitized reasons the watchtower society lists.
the royal commission published it's redress report today.
it is a 668 page document, but it is very interesting.
all the recommendations they make are in harmony with what all other institutions will accept.
Maybe the WTS will close shop in Australia ... and leave the NZ branch oversee it remotely. Under the claim of "persecution".

now after 21 years in professional psychology/humanities, i love talking to brothers that adopt a slow pace in speech, and low tone of voice when they deal with the rank and cold un-associated ones.
my mirroring their present state in personality seems to psych them out for a bit.
i then tap into my fast injection of logical sense, that throws them off.

That just reminded me of when, last year, I was first taken before two Elders for having written an article defending the heavenly hope as the only hope with scriptural backing. At some point nearing the end of that 5-hour debate-questioning the COBE took the conversation to where did I get those apostate ideas from.
So, he lowered a bit his head, looked at me from under those thick eyebrows and sunken, dark eye sockets, and, with a low, slow tone asked me as if he was about to disclose the secret existence of aliens among us:" Brother Eden ... are you awaaaare ... of the name ... Rayyyy-mond ... Franzzzzzz ...?"
To which I replied: "You mean, the former member of the Governing Body , nephew of Fred Franz, responsable for coordinating the Aid to The Bible Understanding, who wrote the book Crisis of Conscience after he was disfellowshiped? Yes, I'm aware of him." The COBE nearly had a cardiac arrest.

In the most simple terms, an 'apostate' is someone who voices any disagreement with whatever current interpretation of doctrine made by the Governing Body or publicly denounces wrongdoing amongst the JW's.
You don't have to be a disfellowshipped or dissociated JW to be labelled an 'apostate'. I know, because that is happening with me at the moment.
Unfavorable media reports about the Jehovah's Witnesses, even if they are of independent origin, are considered 'apostate'. The reasoning behind it is that Satan, the original apostate, is instigating those reports.
If you stick to the Watchtower publications and the Bible alone to point out inconsistencies or perceived errors and doctrinal flip-flops in JW doctrine, your motivations for doing so will be questioned, and you'll likely be labelled an apostate.
If you harbor doubts or disagree or simply can't wrap your head around a JW teaching or change in doctrine, that's OK, as long as you keep 'listening and obeying' the leadership and 'wait on Jehovah' to have your doubts enlightened. But if you share those doubts with others in the congregation other than Elders, and if you insist on not keeping your mouth shut, you risk being accused of 'causing divisions' or 'attempting to create a sect' and you'll be labelled an apostate, and dealt judicially with.

hello friends!today is a sad day for me, as seven months have gone by since my mother passed away after a decades-long fight with breast cancer..
because the witnessing/preaching/teaching work doesn't make any sense to me anymore; because it's not about any "truth"; and because it's basically useless, i've decided to quit doing it.
instead, i've decided to do something that actually can make a real difference in other people's lives.
You go, love!!
