  many of us have had the experience of trying to share our knowledge of the dark side of the watchtower with those we love, only to have it end badly with the person getting deeply upset and refusing to believe any of it.

  a new study might shed some light on the problem.

  this brain study looked at what happens when someone's belief system is challenged.

  the jehovah’s witnesses settled a lawsuit this week brought by a pennsylvania woman who says the religion’s leaders covered up sexual abuse she suffered as a teenager.. the settlement came five days into a trial in which stephanie fessler, a former jehovah’s witness, claimed the religion’s parent corporation violated pennsylvania’s child abuse reporting laws by instructing local leaders – known as elders – not to report her allegations to police.. according to fessler, a middle-aged jehovah’s witness woman, terry monheim, began sexually abusing her when she was 14. at 15, fessler disclosed the abuse to her parents.

  Simple fact remains:

  If the plaintiff didn't have a case, the Watchtower wouldn't make a settlement. It's an admission of - at least - partial responsibility, which stems from their official policies. Even if the parents ALSO failed to show due diligence.

  quick question because of a current writing project i have in hands .... if you live on staten island, what would be the assembly hall you would attend for a circuit assembly ?.

  another question: in 2014 were there still circuit assemblies?

  or had it been already narrowed down to special assembly days?.

  Pale, that's encouraging news. Now, proceed with caution so that you don't get caught by manipulation. I second what someone else said here before ... I think your GF is a bit reckless to get involved with a man who is only 4 months recently separated, with a child and the cult history behind it. You are a ticking time bomb now for her. Don't break her heart.

  As for your wife, and based solely on what you said, it may well be that she is now seeing the WTS with different eyes and realized the monstrosity of the condition she is trapped into now. But she may just be manipulating you to keep you "close" as an option in her life, in an attempt to break your new relationship, so that you can remain available for her if she so wishes to leave the cult. Be careful not to be a mere option on someone's life and not the first choice. Remember that not long ago she chose her religion and her family over you. It could happen again, and her being overly concerned about losing friends and family is natural but also is a red flag, because, as it was said, she isn't emotionally reliable. I would consider a sure sign if she expressed concern about not exposing your child to be raised in the toxic environment of the cult, but has she expressed such concern? Or is she just worried about what SHE might lose?

  You have some tough choices ahead to make. Be sure to make them in YOUR best concerns and those of your child - not necessarily your wife's wishes. If you truly believe your marriage is worth saving, you must act now so that you don't break someone's heart and wreck another life. If not, be supportive to your "ex" but keep a safe distance. Remember it's not your responsibility anymore.

  after a very quiet couple of hours detecting this afternoon i was chuffed to find this silver coin.. it is a groat of edward iii of england.

  for a long time the only coin available was the silver penny.

  if you wanted to spend half a penny or a quarter you literally cut it up.

  Found Another Medieval Coin This Evening

  i got in an hour metal detecting this evening and found this almost immediately.. it is a silver penny of henry ii minted in london by "davi" between 1180 and 1189. this adds a king i didn't have in my collection.

  i now have the series of henry ii - john - henry iii - edward i - edward ii - edward iii.. i now need richard the lionheart to fill in the gap.

  he was the brother of john and reigned after the death of henry ii.

  BTW, there appears to be a new v4.0 version of the XP DEUS detector with a new coil that will be 12cm x 24cm or approximately 4.7" x 9.5" which is very close to the standard established for VLF gold prospecting detectors. This new coil via the V4 software will enable operation at 10 kHz, 20 kHz, 30 kHz, or 40 kHz. That sounds like a detector that can do double duty as coin/relics as well as gold detection. However it costs almost double the price of the Minelab. Is it worth the price difference? i can't find it for sale yet, btw ...
