  Apocripha -What is it good for?

  besides the usual suspects that appear on some bibles (1 and 2 maccabeans, wisdom, judith) what are some other apocripha books that exist out there?

  i mean besides the so called gnostic gospels.

  why have they been ruled out from the cannon?

  I once heard from a Jewish client of mine something in this lines: "What you have today [in christianity] is the Church of Paul, who replaced the Church of Peter." He said that in a rather negative tone. Now, I have never seen a significant inconsistency between what Paul Wrote and what Peter wrote, besides the natural antipathy that I suppose Peter had for Paul. But I wonder if the answer is in the apocrypha?

  the parcel now known as the land owned by the mason's appears to have been consolidated some time ago to form one huge parcel.

  As I understand, the original plot(s) was(were) bought from the Catholic Diocese, and now the entire property - with the exception of the lot(s) owned by the WTS - are being bought by the Masonic Fund Society. Is this understanding correct?

  If that's the case, why is this even news? Sorry, but I would like to see the relevance of it all. Except perhaps the interest of the Masonry in acquiring a graveyard ...

  Besides the usual suspects that appear on some Bibles (1 and 2 Maccabeans, Wisdom, Judith) what are some other Apocripha books that exist out there? I mean besides the so called Gnostic Gospels. Why have they been ruled out from the cannon? Are they relevant? As an example, take the "Book of Enoch", that is directly quoted by Judas (Jude 14,15). Any others?

  i think with every year their are more and more newbies that identify with this site , would you like to say " hi ", if you have joined in the last 12 months ?.

  does anybody have a graph of the numbers of newbies who have joined in say the last 5 years ?.

  i think that would be interesting.

  Is God Truly Omnipotent??

  while acknowledging god as the most powerful force in the universe, i wonder if he is omnipotent.

  this thought came to me as i watched an old star trek: tng, where everyone's favorite fictional omnipotent being, q, was featured.. .

  if he is omnipotent, why could he not remove the "bitter cup" of suffering from christ in the garden?

  I would challenge that. Doesn't Titus 1:2 say that God cannot lie?

  Greetings from a new member

  greetings everyone.. just wanted to say hello to everyone, being a new member from western europe.. some may know me from another forum (eden, from e-jehovas-witnesses.com), but most don't, so this is my little intro.. male, in my early 40's.

  still an active member in good standing of a jehovah's witnesses congregation in my country, and honestly not planning to change that status, despite my unorthodox beliefs.

  sometime i will elaborate the reason why i don't feel i must leave.
