  im new here (well sort of, i did have an account ages ago) but anyway ive been following the topics for months now and thought i should get involved, you can find out more about me from my profile, just thought id break the ice, i look forward to getting involved in this forum, thanks.. .

  Went to a witness party....oh, excuse me, "gathering" over the weekend.....

  the mrs. and i were invited to a "gathering" this weekend.

  was just supposed to be some friends getting together for some food and fellowship.

  when we arrived, there were a bunch of jw's in the back yard(50 to 100) and the music was pumping loud(not that i minded{smile}).

  I remember someone telling me about a young wittness party where the police were called because of loud drunken behavior,but one of the boys assured the police,it was alright as they were Jehovahs Wittness.

  UPDATE: Alive and Kicking... ASS

  i'm joining everyone from the bowels of the sun princess, a ship belonging to the princess cruise lines.

  about an hour and a half ago, we left the port of seattle for alaska.

  my grandmother sent me and my grandfather on this trip for a graduation present.

  feel kinda sick and shaky

  just found out my mom's cancer is worse than she thought...widespread--colon, lungs, bone...so she said i can come down and see her if i want to (7 hours away), and my help would be appreciated if i could manage it.

  of course i can manage it.

  she's my mom.. but i'm dfed, and she's a jw, living with her jw neice's family.

  I'm sinking into depression and I can't seem to shake it

  yesterday was my birthday - sunday is father's day.

  we went out to dinner (my first celebration in over 30 years), my husband gave me a beautiful gift, my kids were great, my sister (who's baptized, but on shaky ground herself) sent me flowers and joined us .

  i'm filled with sadness for all the missed years .

  I too have bad feelings that I did not have the opportunity to wish my mother A Happy Mothers day after thirty years in the org. or spend Christmas with her or Birthdays, she died before I could relate my feelings to her,but as I'm learning you cant look back because it will make you sick.So look after yourself and be happy.

  Hi Ozzi, I am an Andre Bocelli fan also, went to see him at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre last year with my husband when he was in here.I will never forget it.

  Overheard in a public library

  when i was a kid, my parents (strong in the truth: father elder, mother regular pioneer) encouraged me to read.

  in reality, they could hardly have held me back; i come from a long line of bookworms, including my father.

  Brainwashed Children

  i noticed an elder showed a picture of "paradise" and asked "who are the people dipicted"... .

  serveral children answered and said the same thing "they (look like they) are witnesses" -- .

  it was as if these children were taught that only jws are right... which they probably were.

  My husband said when he was a child he had terrible nightmares with the pictures in the Paradise Book,that is what the whole organization is about frightening people to keep them in control.
