An open letter to Waiting, and those she misled.
by RedhorseWoman innow, i'm sure all of you have seen waiting's statements on multiple threads that i started the introduction thread in the sex forum, with the implication that i am constantly thinking about sex and sexual innuendoes (well, this second one may be true, but i almost never think about sex...just ask my husband).. rather than reply to each of her misleading statements, i decided that it would be best to address the issue in one post, one open letter (besides, my cut and paste finger is otherwise occupied at the moment and unavailable for the repetitious task).. let me say this.....if reincarnation is true, then waiting was the evil stepsister to my cinderella (sigh).
i am such a wonderful, patient person, and waiting.....well, waiting.....she....(sniff)....makes fun of me.....(of course she's really good at it, but that is not the point).. i am stating here, once and for all, unequivocally, that i am not the perpetrator of the introduction thread in the sex forum.
waiting did it.

logical-many people have taken objection to your posts, i am one of those people, however, i don't take objection to your presence here. no one minds posts with opposing views, personally, i like a good, healthy argument. if you were able to post your views without extreme negativity or personal attacks, i don't think anyone would have a problem with you. i think it says something that, despite your past negativity, many are still pulling for you. having a difficult time controlling one's emotions does not make one evil, and, accepting positive help/advice can make one much stronger. i hope you have good fortune in resolving the problems that hold you back from being a happy person. looking forward to future debate if it comes with some amount of positivity-unanswered

wendy-bend is weird that way, and so beautiful. just curious, were you associated with the cong. at all when you were there? asking because the cong.s are weirder than bend itself. most of the jw kids had this whole scene that the adults knew nothing about.cheers-nate

So Who Wants To Be Married To A Doormat?
by Englishman inin her book the surrendered wife, california housewife laura doyle advises married women to submit to their husbands in all circumstances.
she says that the man should take absolute control in every imaginable situation, and that the woman should be passive, always giving way to her husband.
she should give her husband all of her salary, and if she gets a little bit back to spend, well, she should be very grateful to her lord and master for his kindness.. over on h20, pro-witness poster flair claims that women need discipline just like children do.

i love that my wife questions me. it keeps me on my toes. when i earn her respect it means something. i've never been attracted to women who won't stand up for themselves.

claudia-this is back in '94 and at the time i lived in bend, OR. bend is only 20 min.s from mt. bachelor ski resort. the elders told me i looked to much like a snowboarder, and not like a jw. they said that since so many riders wore their hair short, no one would be able to tell i was a witness. wish, i could give a better explanation, but i didn't understand it then, and i don't understand it now.-unanswered

THP-thanks for your answers. in the context of most of the story being legend, i see how you could come to your conclusion. i thought you would have an answer for me, since you obviously put a lot of thought into your post.
anytime someone gives me something to think about, i owe them a debt of gratitude-thanks again for that-unanswered

machislopp-thanks for posting this. it floors me. so, the reinstatement was the witness version of last rites? to think that this man actually thought getting reinstated would assure his salvation. i would hope that the elders involved told him it was his heart condition that mattered more than paperwork, but that might be to much to hope for.

Assemblies...conventions...special days...
by NikL inthere is a phenomenon in dub dom that i have always hated.
the circuit/district convention.. people will spend hard earned money, use up any vacation they may have to travel to a city they don't really have any particular reason to see to sit for entire days and listen to the same b.s.
they could sit and listen to at the meetings in their home kingdom hall.

Heaven? Hell?
by conflicted ini was asked the other day whether i believed in heaven and/or hell, and i almost started spouting jw doctrine before i stopped myself and really pondered the question.. it's a different world when you have to start thinking for yourself instead of letting the organization think for you.
when i left the jw's, i pretty much left religion in general, i dont consider myself agnostic, but i question everything religious i was ever taught.
from "does god exist" to "evolution", "faith", "death", everything i "knew" is under suspicion now.. so back to the topic, the witnesses teach: there is heaven, but only 144,000 get to go, there is no hell, only non-existance upon our death.

conflicted-i can identify, i too have come to a point where i'm questioning/researching everything, not just a few points. you can't tip one domino over without knocking over the rest of them. i really liked the quote, it made me think of something i realized a long time ago, the fact that most of the main "rules" of living should come naturally-don't cheat on your mate, treat others as you would have them treat you, etc. sure none of us are perfect, but i really don't think jehovah wants to have to tell us these things. they are things we do to get along in life and it doesn't have to be a "rule" for us to know it is right. i'm just sad my conditioning by the WT made me believe otherwise. didn't mean to ramble, good post-unanswered.
