i have been reading post on this forum for many months and i wanted to thank you all for all the great posts and comments that have really helped me get through this hard year of fading.

my husband and i where born in jdubs and almost 1 year ago we started to fade , now that we think about it has been a few years that we were suffering from cognitive dissonance without knowing it.

we feel that finally we have our life back , a life that is just starting.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Your story of your family shunning you is almost exactly like mine. I haven't been df'ed or written a DA letter, but just because I just stopped going to the meetings. My parents had started to express doubts about the JW's and our family called them apostates and shunned them, then because we were "close" with my parents we got condemned as apostates although we had just stopped going.

I know it's hard, but as time goes by it will get better, the hurt will still be there, but you will just beginning to accept it.

yesterday morning i got a message from my friend, the one i shared ttatt with last week and she wanted to meet for coffee.

this is the story/friend i'm referring to http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/251494/1/ha-take-that-watchtower-one-less-borg-for-you.. i was really nervous because since our initial visit she had told me that two of her other jw friends wanted to talk to me.

after a little more prodding she admitted that her friends didn't accept what their own wt said about god's name and they wanted to talk to me to "bring me back to the truth.".

problemaddict: Yes on my first post there was a person who said I handled this whole thing badly....Oh well, it couldn't have been that bad if my friend still wants to see more stuff from WT.

Since I know my friend very well, I know what will work with her. She is one who can see contradictions very clearly...she has told me several times when I show her WT article that contradict each other, that if this is "truth" it will not change. So that is my approach with her, showing her the contradictions. Lets face it, WT is full of contradictions!

The blood issue and organ transplants is what she wants to see next. So that is part of the literature I will show her next week.

She is the one who brought up the images....so I'm simply just showing her and letting her come to her own conclusions, nothing more nothing less. If she can see them and this helps her leave WT, then who am I to tell her she is wrong. I'm only helping her along her journey and providing her with what she is asking for.

Mr. Flipper: Thank you. My parents told me about the nice conversation they had with you. I hope one day we all can meet in person.

I learned real quick about some of the people on this forum. Once I realize who those people are, I don't bother replying to them anymore. I'm not losing any sleep over the negative comments :)

I'm just trying my best with my friend. She has been txt'ing me everyday and she just asked me yesterday if I would be willing to talk to another friend of hers who studied with the JW's years ago, but never baptized and now she wants to know TTATT. I actually agreed to talk with this friend of hers because she is thinking of starting to study again with the JW's. I just find it so funny that this person now whats to know about the JW's before she studies again. We will see now what happens with this :)

last week a friend of mine contacted me out of the blue asking if we could have lunch together.

my friend has been studing with the jw's on and off for about 11-12 years i think.

she has told me everytime i see her that she can't wait for jehovah to end this evil world...she can't wait for the new system...the end is so close....etc.. i sent her a message back telling her that i left the jw's and asked her if she had heard that.

Blacksheep: I tried to explain about deaf culture....I'm done, you are not understanding anything I'm talking about...I'm sure with you being an aspie you would be a little more understanding towards people with disabilities....here ya go...http://www.deaf-culture-online.com/deafculture.html. Just learn about deaf culture on your own.

But in my experience you saying their behavior is like an aspie, that is an attack against their culture and they would not take to kindly to that comment....that comment is along the lines when hearing people tell a deaf person they need to be fixed. I'm done. You can post comments all you want, I'm not talking to you anymore until I can see you have researched about deaf culture...there are many sources out there besides the link I provided.

I think I missed welcoming you to the forum. Welcome!

Well I don't have all the answers, but when my parents and I learned TTATT, the first 6 months was nothing but studying and relearning everything. And even now we are still trying to relearn some thing. If you ever need any help or have questions about anything, please PM me. If I don't know the answer I can maybe at least point you in the right direction.
