I'm writing a DA letter...need advise

hello, so i have decided to da myself and will write a da letter to the body of elders.... do you have any ideas of what i can include in this letter or samples?...

i really want to make a huge impact with this letter.. i appreciate your help everyone....

I'm very happy you have awakened and have the desire to get as far away from the hypocrisy as you can.

I know others have told you what to do and everyone is entitled to their opinions and have given good advice. I have read Greybeard's letter and there are many great points you can use from his letter.

I just want to share with you how I felt with regards to writing a DA letter. In the beginning, I was so angry and upset about learning TTATT and for a good while I was going to write a DA letter. My parents have also come to know TTATT and my father asked me to hold off on writing the DA letter until he could talk to his mother and tell her TTATT and so I have been waiting for him to talk to her in person (she lives in another state). He will be talking to her in a few weeks....anyway taking this time for my emotions to calm down has been the best thing for me personally. I am NOT going to write a DA letter because they (the elders, GB, friends, family..etc) have no control over me and why should I play their game? They have no power of authority over me.

So the only advice I am going to give you is, take time to calm down your emotions. You don't really want to write something like a DA letter when you are emotional. Get the feelings and emotions in control and then see where you stand on writing a DA letter. You have nothing but time on your side, so use it :)

Unbelievable Assertion!!!!!!!

we had our special assembly day this weekend.. what the district overseer stated in his talk totally stunned me, and made me feel sick to my stomach.

he said, "christ is directing us through the governing body, and we cannot get holy spirit except through them!".

i do not wish to reveal all my thoughts on his statement, but i pray to god that it acts as a wake-up call to at least some of the audience.. suffice to say that the gb is now the mediator to our mediator, and from now on, i will have to pray for holy spirit through the name of the gb!!.

We can only get holy spirit through the GB huh? Well I guess they are the ones who died for our sins then? Those 8 men blood was poured out on our behalf? Well hell, We should just start praying to them, since they are god.

All I can say is WOW, why did that Scripture "when you catch sight of the disgusting thing...standing in a holy place" come to mind?

i have just joined this website and just wanted to say hello to anyone out there.

i am so nervous,after thirty odd years in the "truth" i feel as though my husband and i have just walked into a room full of smiling strangers and we are just standing here hoping to god someone will come up and speak to us.

scared and excited and hoping to wake up one morning and not wonder what we do now???

Welcome Franticfran,

I only recently joined this group about a month ago, but I had been lurking for awhile before I actually joined. It takes a lot of courage to do what you and your family have done.

I think most of us on here have been broken, beat and scared by being in the WT. Each story has similar themes, but each story is unique because it happened to you and how you feel about it and how you react to it is what makes it unique. So when you feel comfortable and ready...tell us your story, it goes a long way in helping the healing process. Most of the folks on this board understand because we have all been there. I don't know where else we can go to find anyone else who would understand.

I think all of us on here have gone through the same feelings when we find out TTATT (the truth about the truth), I know it feels like your heart is being ripped out of you, but pray to our heavenly father and read the bible. You will find strength and comfort in doing that.

this morning my husband was txt'ing a classmate of his because they have to meet up for a class project.

my husband txt'd the classmate last night and he didn't reply until this morning.. classmate (cm): sorry bro, i was at a bible study last night, i go every thursday.. my husband and i look at each other, a bible study on a thursday?

oh crap this guy much be either studying with the jw's or he was at a meeting last night.. hubby's txt back: oh cool dude...who are you studying with?.

@ Carla, In light of the April study article and the picture of God's organization and the fact that Jesus isn't even in the picture, I feel very confident in saying the JW's as a "religion" or cult, has rejected Jesus and can no longer be Christan. I do believe there are Christan's hidden among the JW, but those men at the top, they are not. It's interesting to have a different perspective now on the JW's.

@BU2B, The NT was not just written for the 144,000, if you want to get technical about it, the whole bible was written for Jews, but I think down to our day now the bible is for everyone, not some special elect group of people who claim to be better than Jesus.

The whole thing about this man's comment to my husband is the fact, like has been mentioned here that the JW's group as a whole do not follow Christ and at every step they are trying to figure out ways to "get rid" of Jesus altogether. And it just amazes me now that my eyes are open I can see it. It's been staring at me this whole time, but my eyes were closed to it.

@ sir82, I guess I was always a bad JW, because I never felt right having the distinction between worldly and JW being true Christan's. I never thought it was right condemning people by using the vocabulary to put down and shun others.

@ PSacramento, we didn't know for sure, but it was how this person said it, made it sound like it could be the JW's he was studying with.

That is one thing that gets me. The WT hammers it into the JW brains not to be on these sites and yet here these people are. When I started to wake up, it took me a good 2 months before I came on to this forums. I remember the first time I came on here and your site, I had a huge knot in my stomach, because the big bad evil boogieman apostates are lurking on here and will eat me...and this is after I woke up! So I'm just curious as to why these strong JW's are coming on here?

CM: My step dad and I study with a couple of guys from church.

So now we both have that knot in our stomach, doesn't that sound familiar?

Hubby: Nice, are you studying with Jehovah's Witnesses?

CM: No, I'm studying with Christan's.

My husband and I burst out laughing, no not the JW's, Christan's! I laughed so hard because of the irony, JW's believe they are "true Christan's" but yet the so-called "worldly" people don't think that at all.

Do Witnesses really want to go to the meetings?

do witnesses really want to go to the meetings?

or do they just go because they feel they must to get into the new world.

or is it just peer pressure or pressure of elders?

I remember not to long before my awakening, just after we started going to the hall we moved to, they had their CA and I couldn't go because of all the anxiety I have, but some friends on mine, the wife was so happy when the Thursday meeting was canceled and under her breath she made the comment that sometimes it's just too much for her to go. Her hubby is an MS, in charge of the literature counter and one of the MS to handle the donation box, so they are the last people to leave. Anyway something happened, to where they couldn't make it to their CA and so a few weeks later a neighboring circuit had their CA and the two of them were going to catch that one and they missed the Thursday meeting again. Again my friend made a comment about how happy she was she didn't have to get dressed up and go again.

I think most of the JW's just go because that is what they are supposed to do....Me, when I started having my anxiety problems I listened on the phone, but then later we would get the meetings, but my husband and I would be playing video games. I felt so guilty about that at the time, but now I think it was awesome instead of listening we would be playing video games, but if anyone asked us, "oh yes we get the meetings every time!"

I hated getting dressed up to go and put on a false smile and making these people think they were my friends when in fact I could see right through their shallowness. When my dad was an MS, he made us go 30 min before the meeting started and made us stay 30 min after....I hated that because all of my "friends" were the worst people to have as friends and as soon as I turned my back, they would stab it. I never wanted to go and I was so thankful when I would get sick and I couldn't go...I would milk it for all it was worth. Or better yet as a woman, every month I would have an excuse not to go! One of the few times in my life I was thankful to have the monthly visitor.

Two Witnesses stuck in a elevator or car without Chaperon. Would they fornicate? Yes/No

im amazed how going witnessing sisters who knew me for decades would sit only in the back seat on the way to the hall...to avoid any sex at the traffic lights!!!

and chaperons 1840's style are needed because two witnesses alone for 10 minutes would go at it like animals even after all the training watchtower articles and talks being jahs clean org.

You know how badly JW's have raging hormones...anythings possible, you twitch your nose because of an itch and you get your bones jumped.

I do have a story to tell. I'll try to make it short. So my husband and I decided he would move to my town and he would stay with my parents and I until we got married. It was only 3 weeks til the wedding and I was still busy working with almost a 3 hour a day commute to work and home, then on the weekends still trying to do service, meetings...you know the good JW requirements......plus trying to to get ready for a wedding in 3 weeks. The elder who was going to marry us threw a fit and said it wouldn't be proper for him to stay with us...we of course would get into trouble (Now looking back, I guess we could have, but my mom is an incredible light sleeper, plus sleeping with 3 big dogs in their room that start barking as soon as you even go to the bathroom. Plus a friend staying with us while she looked for an apt, who is a light sleeper and is right next to my room. Also I was so dang tired from everything I didn't have the energy to do anything). So this elder forces my future husband to stay with him which it really made thing hard on us because it was extra gas money and leaving my parents down to one car. Doofus Elder! Now the interesting part.

My husband and I lived with my parents for a short time after we were married, my parents had a JW friends staying with us (same person I mentioned above) because she had just moved to the area and she was trying to find an apt. Well Mr Elder Doofus started coming over almost immedately "courting" my parents friend. First he would just come over to "visit" then he asked if the friend wanted to go out to dinner and then things got more serious. The elder Doofus would come pick up the friend, they wouldn't get home til 11pm or sometimes not til 2am (remember me saying my mom is a light sleeper and the 3 big dogs that would bark at anything?) When they would get back they would just be sitting in his car and the windows would fog up and would be that way for a long time....Are they talking????Or something else????

So after elder doofus and friend became engaged after 1 month of dating, elder doofus is 60's and friend is 40's, they start riding alone together to the meetings. This did not go over good with the BOE and they told elder Doofus that they can't be riding alone together because they would get into trouble. Elder Doofus then is complaining to my parents about how stupid the whole chaperone thing is.

I was upset because my future husband and I could not ever be alone together before we were married, we didn't want to do anything before we were married, but we just wanted to be alone. And now this Doofus elder is complaining because of how stupid the chaperone arrangment is when he's sitting in a parked car with fogged up windows for several hours and being totally ALONE with friend on multiple occasions, parking on what would be an alternitive for "lovers lane" and he is complaining! After the Hell and embaressment (some things withheld to protect my id) he put us through and he isn't even following this own elder rules and say it doesn't apply to people his age (he actually said that!)

So just from elder Doofus example, if you are alone in a car, I guess you can't control your raging hormones, even when you're in 60's or 40's.

good day...so this is the conversation i had with a co-worker of mine i mentioned in an earlier thread...shes a jw and doesnt know that i was associated with the jws before and that im a fader.

I just have to say this is an interesting thread and I'm curious to see where this goes with your co-worker.

I really wish I had any suggestions for you, there is so much you can bring up to her about the JDubs. I think other people will have better suggestions than me.
