yesterday evening i journeyed into darkest somerset to give a prospective client a quotation for a fitted bedroom.

i juiced up at tesco's and zoomed off towards rural badgeworth.

while i was drawing up my designs with my customer, my mobile phone burst into life, playing "the sting" theme, which meant that this was an uknown caller to me.

South Australian Police model themselves closely on the English, they'd never swear in public and only got the right to bear arms about 15 years ago. NSW is another world with endemic corruption dating back to the first fleet. There is a saying in NSW - "the Burglary Squad's in charge of Burglary, the Drug Squad's in charge of drugs and the Homicide Squad's in charge of murder" (no joke)
The current English Police Commisioner, Peter Ryan, is trying to clean it all up (poor bloke's pissing against the wind to a large extent)

The cops here in NSW are pretty good especially if you look like a family man. There has been a debate here about what they should officially be called. The name went from Police Force to Police Service in 1990 and now they are to being called NSW Police. 'Police Service' sounded way to wimpy

They are corrupt though. We are amused by the English cops on "the Bill" no way would crims and hoons give the NSW cops the grief they give English ones. That .38 revolver hanging at the side makes a big difference to attitudes. Cops saying f*** this and f*** that, when there aren't any women around is a shocker too.

PS: Yeah, the long arm of the law reaches you by phone nowerdays. I had a cop ring me in the work van to tell me my left brake light wasn't working, I looked in the mirror and there he was behind me grinning and waving. lol lazy bastard.

PSS: Most Police stations here automatically track your mobile phone during a call. All calls are automatically triangulated. I don't know if it's done over there, your friendly bobby may have had the address you were at on the screen in front of him as he set off the sting.

If it really is YouKnow's address then he's a confirmed liar. If it's the address of some conman he/she deserves having his/her name and address posted from here to Timbuktoo. oo I just thought of one scenerio that might bring that simple reasoning undone. Now I'm worried. Oh well. lol.

Security implications? You think someone might hate YK enough to throw a rock through his window? We can only hope it donks him on the noggin.

Hey Rex,

You're letting your antipathy for Alan cloud your judgement. I have never phoned Alan but know many who have and some who have met him in person. They all say nothing but good things about the man. I emailed him for the first time a couple of weeks ago and he replied straight back. I'd like to phone him one day. He still posts the same number he did well over a year ago on h20 and I'm sure we'd get along just fine.

Alan and i disagee on some stuff but big deal, neither of want do the preach thing. I don't think I have even seen Alan put forward his own religious or spiritual philosophy. You call Alan puffed up etc but can't counter his water tight logic. I well understand Alans frustration and have learned to only argue with ignorant fundy's for fun. When facts and sound reasoning mean nothing to your opponant the only thing left is mockery

Alan is open with his ID Rex so what's this latest nonsense about?

I Attended a Christian Convention last weekend

when i was a jw (born and raised), i was lead to believe that the clergy class of christendom was some elite class who ruled over the meek and mild sheep of the congregation; that they wore fancy robes to do their services in, and generally were every bad thing the wts told me they would be.. they lied.. i attended a christian convention just this last weekend.

it was a non-denominational one, meaning you didn't have to be of a certain faith to attend, neither were some of the speakers who participated.

however, the organisers were from the anglican (church of england) religion so the communion on sunday was conducted according to anglican tradition, but i'll get to that later.. one of the things that hit me first was that you were allowed to wear what you liked.

Finally, I felt spiritually refreshed and encouraged by the convention. I'm not just saying that, like we did when we attended the JW conventions. I enjoyed the 2 days I experienced, and would have loved to been able to attend the rest of this week's sessions.

Wonderfull isn't it, not my cup of tea but wonderfull all the same. I think all JW's leaving should go to a few different church services to see how things really are in Christendom the Great. Most religions, Catholic, Jewish, Greek Orthodox, Pagan, revolve around the rituals of the old canibal feast. Fresh Jesus anyone?

I've enjoyed a few Church services but find myself guffawing and wanting to argue with the speakers (a habit I picked up arguing with the tele ;) I'm glad you had a good time Prisca. Cleared a few pre-conception cob webs eh? lol.

The above address was emailed to me by some lowlife saying he was YouKnow. I went to the trouble and expence of mailing off a book and letter but haven't heard back. You say it wasn't you YK and that's fair enough but what low life was it? Anybody know?

how do you stop crying......

when you start reading rays book and find out that everything you know to be factual, the only constant, solid, truth in the universe is just nothing?

i've known this in my head since i started reading posts here on xmas day but i have never really believed it.

i thought i just wanted to believe it so that i could rid myself of some of this guilt i've always carried around.

Hello flower,

I understand your pain. You have some good friends here and on the practical side i really like what Lilacs had to say. Before you can start to heal you need to stop the wound from reopening all the time.

To move into a place of your own is a very bold and scarey thing. I would start thinking seriously about it and carefully planning for the day you move away. Even the act of planning your independance should set your mind into repair mode. Unfortunately healing of your spirit, or whatever you chose to label it, will require putting some time and space betweeen yourself and the prime source of your hurt.

I don't know where you live and i'm not asking flower but I wonder if there is anyone nearby who can give you some practical help off line.

As far as tears go, they come with the territory and it's going to take a lot more to wash away your sorrow. ((((hug))))

i posted this same topic earlier but it didn't go through so i have to do it again.. i didn't think my ten questions would cause a person(youknow) to be attacked because his opinions was different from the majority.. alanf.

i don't know you personally and i don't know what you have gone through in your life, but i can say from what i have seen in here you have a lot of angry,hate, and other issues inside you that needs to be dealt with.

you oblivious have some sort of history with this man.

I spent time in the little secret library the JW's have on the administration floor in Brooklyn.

What I would have given for that twenty or even ten years ago. A friend of mine has access to Brooklyn but he hasn't been into devils kitchen. Meeting the big boys in private certainly would rock your faith in Jehovah's Organization (if a man had any spine at all)

tired from another long day i entered home and immediately knew something was wrong.

it was very quiet and the only light on was in the kitchen.

Leaving wasn't easy for me either. 'The elastic effect' means you run away but it draggs you back in. The trick is to run away and sever as many of the little bands as you can to weaken it's effect (if that makes sense to you) One advantage of Susan studying for her degree was that I gained easy access to the University library and read everything I could on cults and JW history. Discovering Steve Hassans book "Combatting Cult Mind Control" really cut the bands for good. Any chance of leaving a copy in your sisters path?

I think there's truth in the saying "if you found it easy to leave you weren't that deep in it to begin with" Me I just resigned myself to die. That in itself was a great weight off. No more fear of death.
