KPRZ = Spanish
by DazedAndConfused ini don't remember which thread stated that some people from the wtbts was going to be on kprz tomorrow/today, but i went through downloading special things i needed to be able to hear and what i am hearing is spanish.
while spanish is a very beautiful language, i still cannot understand it.
if someone listens to this program and can make up a transcript (possibly tapings and transcribing) it would be great.

Does God condone slavery?
by crownboy inthe september 8th, 2001 awake aimed to answer this question.
to say the least, this is a topic of great controversy and embarrassment for christains.. essentially, the awake said that god is unequivocally opposed to oppresive forms of slavery (as if any type of slavery is not considered oppresive to the one being enslaved) and that he demonstrated his opposition to such slavery by freeing the isrealites from the oppresive eyptians (but of course leaving slaves under more despotic conditions to fend for themselves).. they acknowledged that god allowed the isrealites to own slaves, but not opression of them (an example given was that the isrealites could take women as slaves, but could only have sex with them if they made them their wives.
in the "opressive" forms the women would have sex with their masters without the benefit of marriage and only for the masters sexual gratification.

Slavery in the OT times is not what we think of it today, with the atrocities of the african slaves and all. It had to do with the financial structure of the culture. If you were indebted to someone, you could pay them back by being their servant, i.e. slave, but it was a respectful relationship where the servant had a choice to stay or leave when the debt was paid, but usually stayed with the family for financial reasons.
(Deut 15:12-18) If a fellow Hebrew, a man or a woman, sells himself to you and serves you six years, in the seventh year you must let him go free.
13 And when you release him, do not send him away empty-handed.
14 Supply him liberally from your flock, your threshing floor and your winepress. Give to him as the LORD your God has blessed you.
15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you. That is why I give you this command today.
16 But if your servant says to you, "I do not want to leave you," because he loves you and your family and is well off with you,
17 then take an awl and push it through his ear lobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Do the same for your maidservant.
18 Do not consider it a hardship to set your servant free, because his service to you these six years has been worth twice as much as that of a hired

A Call to my Priest
by Amazing in1969: i was still studying with the jws, attending meetings, and preparing for baptism.
one of the requirements was that i notify my previous religion, the roman catholic church where i was baptized as a baby in 1951, and demand they remove me from membership.. catholic policy: i wrote to my priest in southern california to follow-up on the jw requirement to write to the catholic church and demand removal.
but, unlike most churches, the catholic church never removes anyone from the membership.

Reasons why its so hard to break from the WTS
by Leander ini'm still sitting on the fence trying to figure out which direction to go in.
i think one of the reasons i have'nt left yet is because of the fact that i'm not entirely sure that the wts is really not god's organization.. some of the reasons why i feel that way is because of their insight on the scripture.
i've never heard of any other religion attempt to decipher the prophecies in the book of daniel and revelations.

Leander, I sympathize with your situation. Please allow me to shed some light on what is going on and ask you to prayerfully consider what it is I am saying.
First of all, you have been involved with an org that is based on teachings of men rather than teachings of God. They have taught you many things that are true, but also many things that are full of lies and deceit. The Bible is true, Christ died and rose again etc. I think your confusion lies in the fact that you feel pulled in two directions because you feel that there is truth in the org, but you also see the deception. What I would ask that you do is take a serious look at what scripture teaches and then ask God to reveal to you *who* Jesus Christ is. The Watchtower has told you flat out lies about who Christ is, and their publications regarding the Trinity are so distorted and fabricated that they don't hold up under scrutiny.'Should you believe in the Trinity?' for example. Out of the 100+ quotes that they use in that pamplet, all of them except one is taken out of context. I have copies of all the original books that these quotes were taken from and you wouldn't beleive how many of these quotes are actually from people supporting the Trinity, yet when taken out of context, they can be manipulated to say whatever the WT desires. My question would be this. If the Trinity is a pagan doctrine and not what the Bible teaches, why would the WT have to misquote and distort 100 quotes and references? The more you investigate the more you will find the WT creates ideas and twists the scripture to make it fit their ideas and then attacks you if you question it. All the cults are the same. They abandon you if you start to ask questions and shun you from the others. God says 'Never will I leave you, never will I foresake you'. Please email me privately Leander if you want to talk more. I will pray that you can be free from religion and enter into the relationship that God has designed for you through His Son.
