tonight i had a call from one of my daughters (16) who is not a jw.
she wanted to borrow some money.
so she could go and attend a funeral.
When my no-JW grandma died she had her funeral in a church and my mother(her daughter) my aunt and I attended. I was the PO at the time and my mother and aunt were special pioneers. No one questioned us about it in the congregation. My brother also attended who was an elder also. I also took pictures of wedings in churches.

About all we can do is imagine Jesus, since no one noticed him for 30 years and he never wrote anything down for us to read and we only have what a few people wrote about him years after his death. He didn't become God until a dove landed on him. Now we must use our imagination to have faith in him to have any hope of living after this one is over. If you happen to live in a culture that doesn't imagine him and you don't somehow learn to imagine him, you are toast.

even though i am myself deaf, i can speak english pretty well and i also do america sign language.

my mother once told me a story of how john denver supposedly hated jehovah's witnesses more then life itself.
my legend, these are two examples i heard while in the witnesses .... 1. at a john denver concert, he once asked all jehovah's witnesses in the audience to leave.. 2. johnny carson once asked him if he did this, and when he said he did, johnny carson asked him to leave the show in rehearsal and re-booked someone else.. ... awhile back i started looking on the internet for information on this and could not see any proof of this and wondered if anyone ever heard this before or was it just something that was in our area.
i have a feeling it is something others heard of.

The version circulating here inWTNY State was that John Denver opened his concert by talking about how great JWs were and asked them to stand up. When they did, he immediately began playing the National Anthem.

i just heard a brief report that the vatican has okd the use of condoms to prevent the spread of the hiv virus.
this is good news and a relief to many.
in light of the growing aids epidemic world wide this allowance is very compassionate on the part of the church.
Elsewhere, can't you tell the difference in a rubber glove and a condom?

If I believed that alcohol and drugs was God then I would believe it was inspired by God. Take the book of Revelation as an example.
It has too many conflicting ways to live to please the God it supposedly comes from, like killing babys to forgiving all things.

does anyone else find themselves embarrassed about their jw past?
i find that when people that know what i used to be ask me about it i am completely embarrassed by how foolish their beliefs sound especially things like the blood issue.
i can't stand when someone will say "why did you believe such and such....?
Not at all. I'm happy with myself now. My family was respected in the community. Someone at a worldly funeral recently told me how much they appreciated something my dad did for them, if I remember correctly he stopped to help him fix his car one night when he was broke down on the road. That was over 50 years ago. Never had anyone mention my JW past except JWs.

my wife was getting something out of the bathroom sink cabinet and there was water all in the bottom.
the faucet had gone bad.
i went over to lowes and got a new one, while i was installing it i noticed the sink trap was bad also, so i go back over to lowes(14 miles) and find the one i need and get to the counter and discovered i didn't have my wallet.

I had taken it out of my pocket because it hurt lying on it while working on the sink. Back home to get my walet and another 28 miles. Well I finally got it all working. I hate doing plumbing when you can't see or get to what you are working on. My back was bothering me before I started working on the sink but now it feels better after all the bending and laying on my back doing the repair. I guess there is some good from it all.

many people ask why doesn't god interefere to help suffering mankind?
biblically the answer is very simple: mankind exercise their freedom of choice and in so doing chose to be slaves to sin or the demons if you like.
god respects that choice however foolish it may be.
If bad happens to mankind because of his relationship to a God why does the same things happen to animals? They have all the same problems we do, even growing old and dieing, the diseases are mostly the same, at least my dogs are. Evolution seems to be a better answer, at least it makes some sense.

when the society came out in 1966 with the info that 6000 years of man's existence would come to an end by 1975, i thought it was a crock.
for 9 long years, all jws did was speculate about "when" the great tribulation was going to begin.
i always thought of jesus' words about "nobody knowing the day or the hour"----yet jehovah's witnesses figured it out?
Can't really remember having a real belief from my inner self, I just followed what I had been raised to do. I quit going to meetings very often or going door to door at all about 1974. I wasn't scared at all when 1975 came, I was having too much fun enjoying my life outside the borg after my divorce from a JW wife and marrying my worldly wife.
