i didn't say "unmotivated" or "lacking direction" or any of the other euphemisms i typically apply to it.
i said what i meant, and i do mean it.. but i can't imagine it has to be this way.
surely there's something i can do to combat it.

interesting thing i read in carolynn myss: .
among god stories, the jewish tradition is unique because yahweh is never depicted as being sexual.
when christianity appeared on the scene, however, its then-still-jewish followers gave their god a human body, calling him jesus, the son of god.
What purpose did God have in destroying all those people back in Noah's day, it just came back just like it was supposedly before the flood. Maybe so he could kill billions this time by Armageddon.

The only symbol that I recognize is the cross. Am I dumb or what?

i am studying about jw, and as i understand it you do not believe in the trinity, how can you not belive in something that the bible says is real, i understand that the word trinity itself is not in the bible, but that does not mean that it does not exist especially since the triune god is talked about in the bible...
Did God kill himself so he could forgive humans? If Christ was God then that is what happened. Why did he say,"Why hast thou forsaken me." while on the cross, if he was God?
Maybe I misunderstood your view of the Trinity doctrine as taught by so many churches, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is one person. Anyway it's all just a made up story.

did they open with song and prayer?
how many in attendance?
i understand that they tie in brooklyn, paterson and the stanley theater in new jersey.. what do they talk about - anyone stay for the business meeting?.
I attended one in the early 60s in PA. I was on my way to the Ministry School in upstate NY. Can't remember any thing about it. I don't think it was a big assembly hall. I think I saw the liberty bell with the crack in it while I was there in PA. There was a speech given and some voting. My mother was with me. Don't remember any of the details.

i remember hearing many times from the platform, and especially the assemblies, that we had to give our valuable things to jehovah till it hurt - and if it didn't hurt, we weren't struggling enough.. especially contributions - did we give till we hurt or did we give out of our surplus?
they love to use the example of the widow's mite to guilt us.. one co said that "some people only give jehovah 10 hours a month!
" - can you imagine that?
I gave until I couldn't stand the pain anymore, so I quit and took a dose of worldly association and got over it.

i left jws 10 yrs ago and have just considered myself drifted.
never df'd.
could never go back as i personally found it too hard to live up to.
Believe whatever you want to believe as long as it doesn't harm other people. No one can prove their religion by evidence, it's just in their head. If there was a god I would think he would let us know by now who he was. We don't even know his name, it's not Jehovah, as that is just a guess of what some Hebrew said was his name.
About all we know is we are alive and can enjoy life if we are lucky. Enjoy your time left here if you can.

specifically, were you an active jw longer than you have been inactive or out of the organization, whichever applies?
i was active for about 15 years, then faded into inactivity, although never df'd or da'd.
time out hasn't yet caught up with time in, but time out is gaining.
Almost equal, 35 in and out.

did anyone notice that the ministry school was for the free labor back in the 60s.
we would work half a day in the fields each day and have school for a few hours later in the evening.
i had to be off work for a month to attend.. i still enjoyed the adventure and meeting some of the ones there.

I still enjoyed the adventure and meeting some of the ones there. A bro from out west flew a plane there and gave us a ride over the finger lakes in uper New York State where the school was located. My mother was there the same time I was as a special pioneer student.

being curious about why people do or act the way they.
do led me to this discussion.
I'm still undecided about God and the origin of the universe. As soon as I find any proof of what life is, I will not be undecided.
