I was allowed to play basketball in high school even though my dad was the congregation servant as it was called back in the 50s. He came to some of my games. The games weren't on meeting nights.

Did anyone ever rebel to play school sports

my determination to play come hell or high water led to my mother turning me over to the state as a youngster, which then lead to foster care and freedom until i foolishly came back to the borg as an adult.

An Abortion question, a Christian paradox?
by free2beme ini have expressed this question to many of my christian friends and heard a mix of answers.
each time, they come from the central feeling they have about christianity, and few come from the bible's view.
here is the question, in regards to abortion.. as it is taught in traditional christianity, to kill a life is to mean you are worthy of death yourself.

What is life? Is it any different for humans than animals? Do humans have some spirit that comes into their body that is unique to the individual? Is life just some electrical or chemical reactions of the brain that is dependant on the body's use of food and air?
We all hope that life is connected to some God who can re-enact it when we lose it here. Where is the evidence? Faith seems to be the only way for some to live happy and not face what seems to be reality, death ends it all.
When sperm meets the egg and life begins I have no idea what it means.

PS: The biggest question I forgot. Where did the universe come from? Did a God create It, and if he did, where did he come from?
I think I will go to church today, duh, they all have different ideas too. God, if you are out there, please help me get some new light that will save my soul, whatever that is.

How long will you post?
by return visitor ini've just noticed that some here have been posting for years, thousands of posts, some average 2, 5, even up to 10 posts per day, every day for years.
i am relatively new to the site, just wondering, what keeps those long time posters comming back?
i can actually see in my own case a time when my interest will wane.

Sorry for you loss. How old was your dad? Mine died at 45 years of age in the hospital too. You will get over the shock but will never forget the times you spent together.

Back of the hall stragglers... were you one?

My wife and her sister are born again christains and they are always talking about this church or that church that don't practice what the bible says is correct. Mostly it is the way some of the members live their life but claim to be good members. One member has his daughter pregnant, she isn't a child but has sex with him, been married and had children by other men. Sort of like some of the old testment good guys.

i got out all my christmas cards, have most of my shopping done and baked my brains out!!

My brother's wife was a JW and celebrated x-mas and was Dfed. He didn't stop her so he was Dfed too. He said he rather had his wife than the WT crap. Now they decorate the outside of their house for all the holidays just to show they don't follow their rules anymore and don't care who knows it.
