when i was a child almost all the country people raised tobacco to make a living and would cure the tobacco in these barns.

There are more than 20 of them on a seven mile route to Reidsville. It brings back a lot of old memories from my youth.

years ago, nearly every jw were true believers.
even if they were considered weak in the faith, they accepted all the beliefs and views from "mother".
do you think today's witnesses accept everything as being the truth?.
That's a hard question for me to answer. I just grew up being a JW, it was just my life. I think I felt pressure to follow the line through my life. I didn't chose the course I was in, I was just there. Finally I just got tired of all the pressure and didn't care whether it was the truth or not and just faded away. Later, after the internet, I begin to see the light about religion in general. I feel it is just a man made way of dealing with life and death and the unknown of eternity. If and what or who God is, is still a mystery to me. I'll probably be dead before I understand any of it.

i can't seem to see ahead at all.
it makes me sad to think about my mom and dad and all the old jws that i knew from way back.
My Grandmother was of the anointed and drank the wine and bread. I don't really know when she started being a JW. My parents were JWs as long as I can remember. There were a couple that were colporteurs who stayed in my grandmothers yard for a while when I was about 6 or 7. I remember those plackards well and the street work. I used the phonographs in the house to house work, or rather my dad did and I went with him to the doors. I was too little to carry the phonograph then.
They just started allowing vacinations when I started to school. The congregations were called companys back then. My dad had the principal of the school to come to our home to explain why we didn't salute the flag or say the pledge of alligence. So many memories.

I've been having a lot of old memories from my past. I can't seem to see ahead at all. It makes me sad to think about my mom and dad and all the old JWs that I knew from way back. Almost all of them are dead now. Here is a picture about 2 blocks from where I live now and we used to meet in that store. It is still there. Gas was 23 cents a gallon. The Theocratic Ministry School was started when we were meeting there. It was a little room on the far side of the building.

it's friday morning and i am alone in the office (so i have to be here) and i have got a headache (sinus i think) and a terrible tummy cramps and nausea (valentine's dinner was too rich?)...
i feel crappy and i just needed to share!

Sorry you feel bad. I feel fine but my wife is having surgery to remove a lump in her breast. I guess I will be with her today in out-patient sugery. It's not too serious we hope, at least they said that.

this morning about 5 am a fire truck went up the street, i could smell the smoke.
they got it put out but the inside of the house was burned out.
my wife's house burned down about 50 years ago close to there because the roads were covered with ice and the fire trucks couldn't get up the hill.

It was a log house and some of the kids were playing with fireworks and one went through the eve from the outside and set it on fire.

Back in the 40's, seven black men raped a sister in Virginia who was selling WTs. They were all given the death sentence and were executed. I was about 10 at the time and still remember the incident. It is on the internet but I forgot her name.

when i was almost seven, we moved from the gulf coast town of mobile, alabama to morgan city, louisiana.
on brashear avenue, which was also highway 90, the gulf coast hwy, going towards the now old atchafalaya bridge, there was a shrimp boat in the middle of the road called the spirit of morgan city.
at christmas time they decorated it with a santa on the front and his reindeer out front, as if it were santa's mode of transportation through cajun country, rather than his regular sleigh.
in michigan for instance they have a few odd named towns.. how does the hell, michigan congregation sound?.
there is also climax, mich. would you attend the climax congregation?.
how about the colon, michigan congregation?.
It's called the Eden Congregation, what a paradise it was.
