Also read that they are skipping over testing on animals and are going straight to the humans for these clinical trials. They are looking for people that are willing to do this and get paid $4,500.00. Fingers crossed it works. I don't think this will ever end with China's filthy ways. I don't think they want to be educated on good hygiene when neighboring countries that have nothing still know how to be clean with washing up. So there needs to be a vaccine I think to fix this worlds problem. Right now this is a world that I don't want to be in. I fear so much for our youth of today. What hope in hell do they have with all what's going on except they can maybe afford a house with the way the bank rates are going

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Back in January 2020 this was the reason why a delay in surgeries. That many would be cancelled. They should have known better but back in July it was because the gowns were contaminated with C Diff which I had contracted while in the hospital. There was a woman in my room who had it and because of shortage of beds I was stuck with her. They could have at least given her her own commode. This was right after my liver resection.

Simon on yesterdays news they interviewed a woman who had seen two elderly people crying in their car. The lady went over and asked them what was wrong. They said they were too scared to go into the store due to the virus. The lady did their shopping for them. Yes! The elderly are suffering and it will only get worse There was a major line up to get into the store and shelves were bare

I was told my visit is a follow up visit and since the CT had only shown a lesion on the spleen not growing, cysts on the liver not growing then they would like to postpone until fall. I said fine. The MRI is for the liver where I had two thirds of it removed due to bile duct cancer. And now the med I need to keep me alive are on back order. We were able to scrounge up one month's supply - 96 pills

Dear myUHN User,
On March 10, 2020, the World Health Organization declared a global COVID-19 pandemic. This means that this novel coronavirus has spread across the world.
When people come together, the risk of infection with COVID-19 increases. For this reason, we are limiting who can come into UHN hospital buildings until further notice.
If you have an upcoming UHN appointment, please review this important information before coming to the hospital.
Important information for patients
Please do not come to the hospital for a clinic appointment, test or other procedure if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Sore Throat
- Runny Nose
Find a list of all our clinics, tests, and procedures »
If you have one or more these symptoms, call your clinic. Talk to the staff about:
- Whether you need to come to the hospital
- Rescheduling your appointment
- Any concerns you have with delays in your care
What can I expect when I come to the hospital?
Starting March 16, 2020, we are screening all patients and visitors before they come into the hospital buildings. There may be line-ups. Please come earlier than you normally do. This will allow enough time for screening questions and to be at your appointment on time.
When you come to the hospital, staff will ask you why you are at the hospital. They will also ask if you have any of the above symptoms.
What if I have a symptom when I come to the hospital?
Patients who have any of these symptoms will be asked to wear a mask and use hand sanitizer. We will take you to your appointment, where we will talk about options for your care.
Visitors will be turned away if they have any symptoms during the screening process.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
If you need to, you can bring one person with you to your appointment. This person will go through the same screening process as you will. If your support person shows any symptoms during the screening process, they will not be allowed to come into the building. If you are unable to safely be in the hospital on your own, you may be required to reschedule the appointment you have come for. Children under the age of 16 will not be allowed into the hospital at this time. Please note that the Toronto Western Family Health team is the only area that will continue to see children.
Can I visit someone who is staying in the hospital, or can someone visit me if I’m an inpatient?
Each patient can have up to one visitor at a time. High risk areas may not allow visitors.
In special situations, more visitors may be allowed. This must be discussed with the unit manager ahead of time.
Could visitor access to the hospital change?
Yes, visitor access to the hospital may change if needed. We continue to monitor the situation closely to make decisions about visitor access. We may need to limit visitors to the hospital in the future if community spread of COVID-19 increases in Ontario.
Before coming to the hospital, please continue to check our COVID-19 site and UHN Twitter accounts (@UHN; @UHNPatientExp; @ipacuhn; @myUHNPortal) for updates.
Will my appointments be cancelled?
When people come together, the risk of infection with COVID-19 increases. To lower the chances of COVID-19 for our patients and staff, we will be cancelling some clinic visits for patients who are currently well, and are coming to UHN for routine check-ups or other non-urgent reasons. These appointments will be rebooked for a later date.
Whenever it is possible, and also safe to do so, assessments will be done by phone or video conference.
What if I have an upcoming surgery?
Surgeries will continue as planned for now. Surgeries that are needed to save a life will go ahead, but other surgeries may be cancelled in the near future. If you have any questions about an upcoming surgery, call your surgeon’s office to speak with a member of the care team.
Will there be changes to the UHN shuttle bus?
In the spirit of social distancing, patients and visitors will not be able to use the UHN shuttle that travels between Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital until further notice.
Where can I find more information?
Information about COVID-19 is changing quickly. For the most up to date information, please visit Telehealth Ontario or UHN COVID-19. Please note: myUHN Support and most UHN clinics do not operate over the weekend however team members will do their best to respond as quickly as possible.
Thank you,
myUHN Support -

LongHairGal I will be having to go in to emerg this morning and am dreading it. This bile won't stop and I know it's bile because antacids only work on stomach acid. God I dread going in but am really sick now. Fucking China and fucking governments.

In Ontario a doctor who lives in Toronto but works in Hamilton Cancer Clinic just came back from Austria and went to work the next day. She was confirmed positive. Ontario was at thirty-six and now has jumped to over four hundred fifty suspected cases. I hope for all those cancer patients on chemo they don't get it.
All publicly funded schools in Ontario will be closed for three weeks now. That will be hard for nurses, doctors ect who have to be at work yet who looks after their kids? This will be hard on everyone every which way possible.

What about people that are in need of certain meds right now? It's happening now. I needed Colestipol or the bile will build up in my body and then I die. My pharmacist said he had filled my order and stupid me trusted him. Two weeks later I go to get my pills which I have to take with every meal ( four pills per meal, three meals per day equals eighty-four per week) and I had the wrong prescription. Called back and am told there's a back order on them until April 1. The UK has been out of them since Dec.. So I had a prescription on paper and started phoning around and no one seem to have it. Finally we found four drug stores out of fifteen that had some left over. That took eight hours of driving and waiting for them to be filled. We also had photocopied fifteen scripts in order for each drug store to fill. Yes it was illegal but we were desperate. My pharmacy had let us down. They told me that there were tons of back orders due to China. This virus is hurting people in more ways than one.
