The sheer lunacy of Jackson's view regarding mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse.

Unfortunately this still will not open up the jw's eyes. If the org is forced to report paedophiles to the authorities thanks to the Royal Commission, do you really think any jw will ask themselves why did it take another group of imperfect men to set them straight and not their all perfect faithful and discreet slave class? Now who really is the faithful and discreet slave? -

Did you hear Stewart use the bible to prove an incredibly good point to Jackson!!
by umbertoecho ini thought at the end, stewart made brilliant use of scripture (about establishing fornication or other sexually immoral practises) how, in such a clever way stewart used scripture to point out that some one could basically stake out someone's house to see if a person stayed over night be they homosexual or heterosexual............that on the basis of a sort of stakeout, the two witness rule was ambivalent yet it prevailed.
due to sufficient suspicion.. and therefore why did this "suspicion" not prevail with child sexual abuse.

Diogenesister, you make a good point on how can two untrained idiots help the victim. GJ made it a point of saying the word elder means older men yet I have seen young boys as young as early twenties be made elders. That along with no maturity and no life experiences is disaster for the poor victim. That's what happened to us and why we had two idiot elders under twenty-six, newly appointed sitting at the end of our lane waiting for us to come and unlock our gates. They had sat there for four and a half hours and then they df'd my husband. They had stalked us all summer and had others in on it as well. Men in their fifties roller blading past our house sitting at the end of our lane as well from other congregations so you know there was major gossip..
I wish the lawyer would call him on that about the older men of the congregation and ask why they don't follow those rules where they were older men with life experience and where the people would come to those gates and be able to listen to both sides. Not like these idiots who take you into a room with no witnesses or observers. We couldn't even bring our lawyer into the room yet Jackson has his very own watchtower lawyers there for him.

And since my brother, Timothy had to die a needless death at the tender age of ten due to your no blood policy and years later my mother committed suicide because she couldn't live with what you assholes put her and my family through, If your going to follow the old testament and it's laws then, I want you also to follow eye for an eye law. My mother and my brother gave up their lives so I feel you the governing body should give up your lives. Practise what you preach!
And what my father did to me and my two other sisters and we were silenced. Have you any idea what that does to a child? Let alone a handicapped child? Your parents are suppose to be the ones you run to to be safe and as a child realising they are the ones you have to run from because a group of wankers molded them to be that way through their sick sick teachings. I sure do hope you get what's coming to you along with the rest of your followers who are aware of your disgusting acts.
How would my parents feel knowing that you changed your blood policy to it's ok to have the blood fractions. Who in the hell made you god? Someone needs to be accountable for all these unnecessary deaths. And I'm not talking jail time but the death penalty! Creeps!

They take great pride in telling people that the word trinity and christmas isn't in the bible, so why believe in it. Where is the word pioneer or seventy hours in it?
They are against education but in the bible there were a lot of educated people in the bible. Luke the physician would have needed a few years right off the bat to become what he was. We knew two girls in our congregation who were lectured, one for being a nurse and the other a school teacher. Both were still living at home so they would have been under their father's headship because it was his house. Yet, the coordinator took it upon himself to not to mind his own business and lecture them. Yet, there was an MS who was able to go for four years and become a millrite and was told by the same coordinator not to let anyone know he was getting an education or they would have to remove him. This kid was one of the accusers at my jc who lied and a month later was made an elder at the age of 26. This cult is a joke!

Why did the governing body go against the scriptures? For example, you need two witnesses to a crime. Your told to keep quiet and not report it for it will bring reproach on Jehovah. To leave it in his hands and to have FAITH in knowing that he will take care of it. By reporting it, it shows I lack faith. My question is: Where is their faith when it comes to the bible? In John 8:17,18 Jesus is asked who is his two witnesses and he says me and my father. Him being the victim and Jehovah being his father, why didn't the governing body go with even that scripture showing that the child who was badly beaten, threatened and raped was the first witness and Jehovah being the second witness? Those two witnesses would have been enough according to the scriptures for the elders to act and protect yet now who lacks faith in god and his word, the bible. For sure it was all about not bringing reproach on the Org's name and not gods. Why do you think they have to keep changing their name in certain countries?
Second question is why did the gb go against the scriptures in 1 Corinthians 4:3-5? Paul saying how he doesn't even judge himself and how there should not even be a tribunal (3 man judging committee). And to judge nothing until Christ himself comes. That HE will do the judging! So why be judged by three imperfect sinners and why shun even when your not disfellowshipped or disassociated?
In my case the elders couldn't do anything to me for I threatened to go public with my tape recording of my six hour judicial committee. Yet, they went behind my back and told everyone in the congregation not to talk to me. They have no right to disfellowship, disassociate or hold your families/friends hostage.
What gives them the right to stalk us all summer and then sit outside someone's gates for over four hours until they "catch" us home? Reading the stories from jw's and exjw's, we see we are not the only ones that this has happened to. It looks like all elders are trained this way, to break the laws where and whenever it suits them.
Why even bethel doesn't get involved. Even when we marched right in and sat down with the service department at headquarters with our manuscript of our taped judicial meeting. At first they wouldn't get involved and then they sent us a letter accusing us of our taped meeting manuscript being alleged. They didn't even have our taped recording. They called it alleged because there were only three scriptures used in all our six hours of a meeting. If any courts want our tape we will be glad to hand it over. In it the one accuser is asking the elders what it is they want her to say to me and I have a fill in circuit overseer admitting that he had lied.
The reason why I am writing this is because a copy of this will be going to all three of my jc committee elders letting them know they will be next if ever the courts want to know how a judicial meetings are handled. Heck, right off the bat when I sat down the one dope elder asked me if I knew why a "disfellowshipping meeting" was set up. What does that tell you?
(Simon, for some reason I can't sign out of my husband's name. It's me Label Licker.Every time I try it brings me back to his name.)

Just curiuos
by newsheep inhas anyone here looked into or became part of the messianic movement?
the conections they make between the old and new testaments are really interesting.
the changes supposedly made by christ are shown to be clarifications of what the original intent of the law was and in no way were they to be changed.

From what I've read the original intent was so everyone could have the opportunity of knowing what they had to do to please God. It didn't matter whwere you came from if you kept or keep those laws He is more than willing to have you as part of his people. An example would be the Egyptians that left Egypt with them. They are never mentioned as a seperate people after that as far as I'm aware. So they must have followed Gods laws from that point on.

Why would we assume that Christ did just that?

To me though by adding the word covenant it is changeing the topic of the verses.
If it's about the priesthood leave it at that, why make it about the covenant? they are not interchangeble.
The Law is perfect, the priesthood was not. Which needed change?

by label licker inwhat are the belongings that jesus comes back for.

Yes, I was told it could possibly be the "other" angels in heaven that they would be in charge of, that nothing was written down yet to confirm it. The brother that told us wasn't quite sure how to take it or explain it. It's one of those just wait and see. Maybe watchtower will try and get people to focus on something in the heavens so that they are not focused on the crap that they have been served here on earth. Who knows, who cares.
