Post a pic of the child that you were,,,,,,,,,,in honor of healing
by LyinEyes inmost of you know that i have moved back to my old house, and in the process, had lots of boxes to go thru.
i have found so many treasured moments of my life, things like my kids, my family, etc.. for just a couple of hours lately i have been putting alot of my pictures when i was young on my personal file, just because they are the only copies i have of them.. i heard it once said that when you have pain in your past , your childhood, that you should look at that picture of the 8 or 9 year old you once were and enbrace her,, or him.
i have done that, and i can tell you it opens the door to so much healing, so much compassion for yourself, something that you as an adult really need to move on.

I've been going through old photos to put on a site for my family to have access to them. It's strange just taking your pics and lining them up to see yourself through the years. So, like Big Tex, I'll take you up on that offer (or was it a challenge?) and post one or two as well.
I should add, I was 4 and we lived in Palmdale CA. then. This is what happens when you transplant a Texan kid out to the strange land of southern CA. - playing cowboy and sailor at the same time! One year later my mom started studying and that changed everything.

Social anxiety VS. Jw influence
by NEWWORLDSLACKER inmy question for tonight is this : after leaving the witnesses do you still feel disjointed from society in general ( and i mean the human race not the wt) ?
im realizing that i still have quite a hard time in social situations where there are more than say 4-5 people .....i tend to get into a dreamy feeling state , and just basically out of it feeling .
i tend to blame it on being raised a dub .

Yep, I've got it too. Who knows for sure how it would be without that JW past. I don't think anyone can deny that the ingrained 'stay separate' way of life is a big part of the problem though.

I work and when I'm not working I surf the net for things related to work like how to fix computer & printer troubles that always pop up. What a life eh?
So Big Tex...that Dallas v Detroit game...was that the one in the Cotton Bowl when Dallas won 5-0? I listened to that one on the radio and remember the Headline the next day: 0 - 5 and that's no jive.

The English Aversion To Root Beer.
by Englishman inwhen we were kids, our mothers would treat our cuts and grazes with an antiseptic cream called germoline.
it's still widely used today.. to mask the antiseptic smell, thereby making the product more acceptable to kids, the manufacturers would mix in sassafras to the finished product.
sassafras has a very distinctive smell.. root beer also contains sassafras, which duly imparts it's distinctive aroma to the drinker.. so, to your average brit anyway, drinking root beer is akin to swallowing antiseptic cream, because it smells just the same!.

Mine is the usual name/number routine now. I once made one with some eerie bit of Vangelis music playing and slowed my voice down (multitrack recorders are great!) so that it sounded kinda like Igor saying "I'm sorry, the master is not home right now, but if you leave a short message I'm sure he will get back with you....when he returns <muah-hahahahahahaha laughter fading out>".
I thought it came off pretty good. Then a JW friend of my mom calls - didn't leave a message but I heard later that it was because "some creep answered." That was what I was after!

LOL wouldn't it be great if the WT had a football team to play against 'other' churches. Then we could read about their differences in the sports section:
Watchtower defeats Holy Trinity
First Christian over Dubs in last minute miracle
WT resorts to 'hail mary' play for victory

"This Is Spinal Tap" - the 'Stonhenge' part in particular. I can't think of any movie scene that I've laughed harder at but I'm sure it's only me.
