  Newbie Again (Kinda Sorta)

  i made my first post (which i have attached) more than 2.5 years ago.. sad to say i am still in the same situation.

  still "physically in" but have mentally been gone for years.

  i am still in my marriage and unfortunatly things have not gotten any better as far as me being able to help him see the light as far as the organization.. i am at a serious crossroad though because i am almost 30 years old, with no children.

  Hey, lostinnj83, welcome back.

  I know you probably don't feel it, but you are still really young! Young enough to take the life you have and grab it with both hands, don't live a half life.

  I think its hard for us raised as JWs to do this because we were not taught this way of living. We were taught to be obedient, to put our own selfish desires aside until the new system.....

  Whatever you want......freedom from JW, a marriage you are happy in? Or starting again and finding happiness with someone else? It's all available for you.

  Recently someone told me that they walked away from a 20 year marriage, he said that you have to let go of the bad in order to make room for the good.....these words have stuck with me. Good luck to you lostinnj83!

  Who are the REAL demons behind the Watchtower?

  i apologize for not writing much of anything in several weeks.. did you miss me?

  (don't answer that!).

  i am doing pretty good now after going through the worst year of my 60 years of life... but in order to make some changes that will enable me to keep working, i really had to take time off to take care of medical issues (mostly my spine - destroyed after 30 years spending 10-12 hours a day on the computer).

  Thanks dog patch, I'm new to these forums, but have been out of TT for years. I'm blown away by the courage & strength of so many who have worked to expose what JW really is.

  Even though I've been out for so long it's really hard to read all this stuff. I'm beginning to realize that I had some idea of a benevolent GB who were maybe just out of touch & misguided. Living on the other side of the world, people think of bethel as some kind of holy place. I never saw the org for what it really was, but I'm beginning to now.

  Understanding the real nature of what we were a part of is another step towards freedom, thank you for all your work!

  It amazes me how the GB believes it has the god given directive to speak on matters which are none of its f**king business.

  Those scriptures are clearly talking about fornication or adultery, to equate that to IVF is stupidity. I agree that the GB are none too fond of children, children take time, energy & $ away from their organization!

  The Internet has been a lifesaver for victims of Cults of all sorts .Is it then the beginning of the end for Cults ?

  since the internet has been available to people all over the earth, their has been an explosion of information going out that is unprecedented in the history of the world .. and one , just one of the beneficiaries of this knowedge are victims of cults who can relate to people who have undergone similar experiences and can offer help and encouragement to other victims .and this is done on a global scale .with what we are witnessing on this site with newbies joining on an almost daily basis , i live in hope that the writing is indeed on the wall for cults of all sorts.

  I think cults will still be able to attract people who are missing something in their lives, but, it will become a lot harder for them.

  The people that I knew who joined JW as adults had one thing in common, they were lonely.

  For me, having been raised in this cult, finding out all this information online has been incredible. It was only because of the conti case that I followed threads online to here & other places. It has affected me so much, even after all this time, so many little things that people who weren't JW could never understand.

  Here's an just one little example...... the other day my partner came home and laughingly said, "hey, do you know what apostate means? I didn't!" ( it was in a trivia quiz at his work ).

  I laughed, but inside I was seething........ I felt like saying, you've been living with one for 20 years f**kwit!!!!!

  It struck me that we are so different, so many things, like him complaining about getting too many Christmas presents, Boy Scouts, etc etc I don't think he even remembers that I didn't have any of those things.

  sorry, I think I've gone off thread, what I'm trying to say is that the Internet is a lifesaver because I'm typing this here My iPad instead of ranting to my partner, or drinking a bottle of wine or doing something else equally stupid. Thanks Internet, and thanks everyone who posts here!

  it is not chains that bind me to the position i now hold .

  and, that, for a lengthy time now.. i stand motionless, my eyes peering through dark curtains, they fixed steadily upon cheerful passersby on the street below my third-storey bedroom window.

  by their simply being out and about in the daytime sun i perceive that, in contrast to my placid self, these happy souls are at peace with the world.

  What happens when a legally married....?

  lesbian couple that has a child decides that they want to be one of jehovahs witnesses?

  really think about this for a second.. what will they do then.. option 1: will they tell them that they have to get a divorce and ignore the scriptural counsel of jehovah hating a divorcing?

  will they say that it was never valid anyway in the eyes of jehovah?

  Hey shirley W, just got back home, and you know what? I have remembered a young man, 30ish, very effeminate. He was whispered about as "struggling" with sexual orientation issues, that's why he wasn't an MS or elder etc etc. Because I was a teenager, and stupid, I remember thinking, ooooh, he's so old, isn't he over it by now???

  Sometimes I cringe at my own ignorance back then, and I am also desperately hoping that that young man got out & found someone to love.

  Living in Sydney, at least he wouldn't have had to look far!

  just re read my post before pressing submit....spell check had replaced "young man" with "hung man"!!!!!. Hahahahahh

  Why any gay or lesbian couple would ever choose to become a JW is beyond me........I would have thought this would never, ever happen. Shirley W however has just proved me wrong.

  I have known a few people in my life who have had confused gender issues, I'm sure the elders would have been a great help (ahhhhhhh)!!!
