  Emptying the cupboards of litter-ature?

  i'm wondering how many of you took a while to gather up the courage to dispose of your cupboard loads of watchtowers and awakes, that you'd stored away for........safe keeping????.

  we probably hung on to ours for a few months and then we burned them.

  there was a tinge of apprehension about it, but it was generally a very satisfying activity.

  How ya doin?
  oooo,lol. I remember litterachure tossing day well!
  I had stopped attending the mtgs cold and was researching much of the doctrine.(didnt have Coc,didnt really need it to find all the baloney).
  It was probably a few months down the road and I was getting angier and angrier at all the horseshit I had been force fed since birth! And about religions in general due to my research. Finding out ,ALL religions were based on myth and superstition was liberating.
  I had went back to school and needed the room for all the texts and materials I was bringing home,saw how much room the WT dreck was taking and had a 'tossday'.
  I can't believe how good it felt,how liberating! It felt like literal tons of my shoulders as I threw the bound volumes etc,one by one in the garbage bin! That included the various bibles.........glorious freeing feeling!!!!!

  A story of brotherly love.....

  since i've been here, from around july, 2001, i haven't really shared any personal experiences of why i left the society, except for the story about my sister who committed suicide.

  this is kind of long, so i will tell it in parts.

  if this is god's organization, i will gladly be a devil worshiper.. here goes....... when i was about 27 years old, (around 1984) after my divorce, i'd moved from laurens, south carolina back to andrews, sc, and rented the house beside my grandmother.

  How convenient of you to dismiss all of Julies salient points by simply dismissing them as,she never was a JW,so couldn't possibly have a good understanding.....blah blah'.
  That makes about as much sense as somebody saying your cardiologist can't understand his heart patients unless he's had a heart attack lol.Quite the facile and weasely one aren't you? lololol But we know where you learned that technique.

  Sorry,As you crow and kiss ass of so-called objectivity,of which I saw little of. Fact is,some of us see what we see,all the excusogetics as to why it 'seemed' that way doesn't erase it.Ego admiration needs are easily spotted,don't have to have a cult background to see these.Just an awareness of them.

  Nothing has or will change my mind that you have certain ego needs once addressed by your position in the WTS,that show thru here loud and clear.

  As for all who wrote you,that was very nice I'm sure. Too bad your sense of self seems to need that to feel 'right' about yourself and much of what you write,and how it is presented. Ever consider what those who didn't write you may think?

  A secure individual doesn't need a cheering section. They will be comfortable with themselves,ideas . They will plod along w/o the ego massages to express individual thought.

  This is all I have to say.You presented your opinion.I present mine. I find it a waste of time to argue such shenannigans like yours. Have a good day/life.

  Glasto-Aposto-Fest

  a few days ago the license for glastonbury 2002 was granted.. for those that don't know, glastonbury is a music and art fesitval in the heart of the english countryside.

  about 100,000 people, music from big names like rem and radiohead, all the way down to small folk bands (there are dozens of stages), including a dedicated world/jazz music stage, hundreds of stalls selling all sorts of food and trinkets, a circus, a comedy tent, a cinema tent, a whole section dedicated to alternative/green technologies (solar-powered internet cafe?

  ) and new age what-have-you... you camp in tents whilst you're there, and the only real downside is the toilets, unless it rains.... think of a well organised woodstock that gives huge amounts to charities.

  Phone Call From My Mother!

  the last time i spoke with my mom was the middle of october.

  i called her that time.. many of you are familiar with the relationship problems ive had with my parents since i quit going to meetings almost a year ago.

  for those of you who arent familiar with the situation, you can do a search by clicking on the paper icon under my name to read up on whats been going on.. anyway things were getting worse and worse and nothing good was coming from our discussions or letters.. since i was the one who called her last, i decided to see how long it would take for my parents to get a hold of me the next time.. my mom even told me in the past that she wanted to limit her association with me.

  Seems she wants to have this sick control over what you do,to whom you speak. All for the 'good image' of the WTS.
  Bollocks! She's demanding that you live a double life,contribute to this lie on how they really treat family members who no longer go along w/ the cult.

  I'm w/ marilyn here,she has no control over you,don't let her have it. Visit these people.That was one of the first things I did upon leaving ,was re-connect to non JW family members. They were as happy as I was doing this!
  Re-connect w/ honesty.The Grandparents already know things are not right,let them know why. You'll find more empathy and support regarding this from non-Jw family memebres. I know I did.

  Show them you love and value them. This not only helps you have some type of family construct,it also shows them the totally repugnant nature and the sick dynamics of the cult to them. How in fact,they and their adherents have no true sense of family and love.
  Re-build your relationship w/ them,grow close! You deserve to have a sense of family.Mom has made her choice.You are an adult and free to make your own. You don't need her Ok,her permission,to do the right thing by your family,and that's having one!.
