sounds like we need to convene Judiciary Committee..ballistic may be being influenced by non jw.com influences and I'm sure no repentance will be found! I know this person, a "friend" who plays lots of Age of Empires and ignores others...not that I would ever do such a thing....hehehe

WILL I BE DISFELLOWSHIPPED?
by jazz inmy wife went into my email and found out i have been looking at porn and chatting with other women she went to the elders and told them i go before them on sunday.
what do you think my fate will be

True, I was just remembering those talks about how Dog knew what you were thinking and doing out of the view of thers and indeed it was sinfull to think nasty thoughts, and the use of pornography would indicate the desire for such activity/thoughts. Maybe only public rebuke...that's always fun.

Why 2 witnesses to a sin?
by kevin221 ini've read several posts lately that define what exactly can or can't get someone in trouble with the jw's and i'm a little confused.
how does the 2 witnesses to a sin thing work?
let me explain why i'm asking.. about 7 years ago a friend of jon's that he has known as a child contacted him via telephone.

Having two witnesses is used to validate the absurd idea that people should be kicked out for most things, althoug abuse, sexual predation, and things that serious are the exception. I mean to say that two witnesses is supposed to rule out direct heresay by one individual, somehow giving the appearance of fairness. The other concept that might need to be remembered is that the bodies of elders I have ever had contact are very chauvanist and will almost always believe for instance a father that says his daughter has commited significant wrongdoing. Such inequalities abound in JWland and have little if anything to do with your actions toward your friend, albeit right and obviously a needed display of friendship.

Sorry for double post, but the reasoning behind my previous statement was that presumably Dog knew exactly what you were thinking, say something like coveting the elder's wife....

DB, please do remember that JWs also consider thinking of sinfull activities and not being repentant is the same as the sin itself.

College
by mikepence ini am thinking about starting to take some courses, working toward my degree.
i would appreciate some feedback.. on the one hand, i have made a successful career for myself as a highly paid computer professional, working for a variety of prominent companies here in the usa over the last 12 years.
this, in spite of not going to college for reasons that you all understand.. to date, the only companies that cared that i did not have a degree, once i had a few years experience, were companies that worked with universities and higher education products.

I may be biased as a college instructor, but I assure you it is well worth it. One of the things you need to do is decide what direction you want to go in. If in fact you want to go the computer science route and already work in he industry, be prepared to sit n on classes that will bore you to death, as much of the info supplied will be common knowledge to you. It may be that you want to start off taking courses not related to your major, like English, history, etc...but do take at least one course of interest your first time around. There is nothing worse than going to school only to feel that it becomes a matter of drudgery. Art appreciation, which works great as an elective is always fun to take right off the start. I guess I'm saying to treat yourself and gauge your speed/interest accordingly. As well, it mat be that you can do credit by exam for some classes, like intro to computers etc, which will inevitably have to be dealt with, as they are requisite courses for most degrees these days. Another option you may want to look into is the University of Phoenix, which is a private institution, but has many campuses all over, and also offers online classes, which may suit you better if you are working. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

UN update needed
by Hmmm inafter letting my little un bomb lie like a dead mackerel for weeks, my mother suddenly emailed me with thoughts of love an encouragement.
she is deathly afraid that i've allowed satan to not only lead me astray, but to be used as a weapon to attack my poor unsupecting family.
(my email put out the bare facts, two links, and questions about the veracity of the claims, as presented to me by "a brother i know.").

BG, yes, w/only bells on.....hehehe
I didn't mention my personal experience, but BG asked for the Jokers, Smokers, & Midnight Tokers, to speak up so I will. I have been involved with several women, after I left the "truth", that were of the mind that smoking pot was unacceptable. I snuck around a little bit, but came to the realization that no one can dictate personal choice, good or bad, regardless of how much I liked them. There were instances when I offered to not indulge in or around their respective houses, but this was far from good enough. In so many instances it really boils down to what cultural and personal aspects you expect another person to confrom to in order to be with them/you...sound familiar? I've read lots of posts by people who have successfuly used counselors and group programs to stop using any number of drugs, but I would also ask those people to consider the large number of people that therapy fails, much like other behaviour modification regimes....sound familiar? What does one do with these people, and how do you treat them? If Kammy is resistant to therapy in regards to all drugs then one must exercise some restraint in making a descision that could poison the entire relationship. I don't think a counselor is in order, nor a therapist, but perhaps a mediator, especially if David is really interested in being w/her, and not participating in a drama episode. A counselor or therapist would probably not give Kammy any leeway based on her past drug problems, but focus very specificaly on not what Dave is feeling, but her actions alone. A mediator can keep confidential information and see both sides neutrally, as it isn't their job to judge, but come to a concensus among the arguing parties. If in fact David and kammy cannot reach a concensus and be happy together, then both of their courses are clear. Seek greener pastures as it were.
