  Where do I stand?

  this is my first post on this site... i will post more details of my story later.. my spouse has obtained an unscriptural divorce.

  does anyone know where that leaves me as to my being free to remarry?.

  i noticed the following in the elders manual, the wording seems to contradict itself.

  It's interesting to really see what Jesus meant by what he said! He said that a man that divorced his wife put her as victim of Adultery! (or something like that you know what I mean)! What you have to do is think about who he was talking to, and what it meant to them! In that time, what would happen to a woman who was divorced? How could she support herself??? What choices did she have? At that time the main income a woman in her posting could have was prostitution, thereby she would be commiting adultry! I think Jesus was saying that since she would have to be a prostitute if they divorced her, then she'd be sinning in God's eyes and the husband would have put her in that situation. Nowadays there are a lot of other things that a woman can do for work, to say nothing of alimony . HAHA so I don't really think that God would frown on you for remarring, especially since She divorced you and you didn't leave her in a vulnerable situation.

  I'm not saying this is 100% fact, but it makes sense to me!
  Just my two cents worth, it's good to have you on this board, and I'm sure you'll love the gang. Where just one big happy family, with a few in-laws .

  with all the confrontation/negativity on the board these last few weeks, maybe we all need to sit back and have a drink, or a cup of tea or coffee, if alcohol's not for you.. seriously, i'm not trying to pretend that i haven't gotten caught up in the negativity at times, or trivialize important issues/feelings, but things haven't been as fun, lately.

  i've noticed a change even in the short time i've been posting.

  i didn't start this topic to point fingers or to act like my opinion is somehow special, but wouldn't it be nice for all of us to see an increase in civility?.

  Apostates' Night Out

  hey all,.

  i just got home from the very first minnesota evil apostates night (mean).

  we wonder if similar apostate nights out have been held elsewhere.. we daringly held this mini-convention (8 in attendance) at a smoky bar somewhere in minneapolis.

  god i hated it..every living breathing minute of it.

  it was pure hell for me, and based on the pace i see the jws all over the world moving, they aint so fond of it neither.

  the persecution that the jws feel they get is from irritated householders who know nothing about their religion except that they hit people over the head with it and then judge them because they dont like being hit over the head with it.

  HMMm well I hate to be the oddball (but I'm getting used to it) I loved service for the most part. I was glad when I got to sleep in though if I was up on my time. I think it was becuase my mom always made it so fun, ever since I was a kid. We'd stop at the park for break, or wade in the river at lunch, we always did things in service to appreciate nature and life! I like selling and I love people, I love being with people especially when all my friends pioneerd and we'd spend the day out in the coutry laughing, telling, jokes, singing! We did get in some fights a few times, but those were fun too sometimes!

  Nothing I loved more then getting into 1914 ohh I loved the chronology, it was moms passion and it made so much sense (HAHAHHAHAHAHAHH!!!). When we saw the truth about that I laughed so hard at all the times I had explained it to people, why couldnt' they grasp it ahhahahahha!

  I too have a ton of service stories,I liked some of the 'alternative service' ideas, like park witnessing (hmmm no ones in the park at 9:30am, but we have kids in the group and can count our time walking through the lovely park, what's not to love). I enjoyed business territory, cause it was quick and brief, and you placed a ton of mags, and it was a nice break!

  Phone witnessing I FLAT OUT REFUSED to do. I don't know why, but I had no intenetions of even trying. I remember some of the sisters would get so self rightous if they planned on doing it, I was like SCORE that means you won't be in my cargroup! I like to drive so I didn't mind in service at all (especially if you had known the other drivers AAAAAAAAA).

  I don't miss it though, not one bit. Sure the friends I miss and some of the good times, but service no!

  recently someone asked me for book recommendations, and i thought it would be fun if we shared our lists of top ten books that helped us think our way out of the jw dogma.

  im putting aside the obvious ones, like crisis of conscience and apocalypse delayed.. heres my list, in the order i discovered them as best i can recall.. ginny.

  Other books, anything by M.M.Kaye, Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum, Richard Preston, Robin Cook, Micheal Crichton.... well you get the picture!
