A friend heard (already hearsay, right?) that the WT Society is thinking about or is already in the process of setting up a college. Maybe this is only a rumor confused with Gilead School at Paterson. However, my friend got the impression it was college in the sense of the Society sponsoring an institution of higher learning. After, all in order to survive, the 7th Day Adventists set up hospitals and colleges, so maybe this is true, and part and parcel to JWs becoming more and more mainstream.
Have you heard anything about this? Could you throw this question out on your web site grapvine and see what comes of it? Let me know.

in one of the threads i read today, they were talking about looking into your eyeballs to diagnose cancer and the like.
also selling herbs.. my comment and question is this: it seemed like in my congregation and the surrounding ones, alot of the sisters were into kineseology, reflexology, herbs, vitamins, color therapy, aroma therapy, etc.. alot of touchy feely hippie crap.
while i personally agree that there needs to be more synergy with eastern and western medicines, it would appear reading the boards that alot of witnesses are into this sort of stuff.. is this your experience?
Well all I have to say is I've gone to several medical doctors, had about every test done, and all they can say is well this doesn't make sense. Some of these results are impossible. I've never been giving any kind of helpful treatment. Fortunetly for me we had a friend who was a naturepath and he helped me!! He helped me get rid of a brain tumor I had in my Junior year of hugh school for one example.
I'm not saying it's the ONLY thing, somethings only a doctor can do, I know that. When I broke my arm I went to the doctor. But alternative medicine has helped me more then anything. Acupuncture releived my asthma 6 years ago! (I can not list on this forum all that it has done for me)
I don't care what anyone else thinks about it, I don't care what your statistics say. I know it works, it works for me and my family! If you don't want to try it that's your loss! I personaly can do relexology and muscle testing, I've taken some courses. I think it's the greatest thing if you can heal yourself naturally, because you don't have the side effects or the costs. Plus it's more ummm how do you say 'Natural'.

All I got to say is if it wasn't for Alternative medicine, I'd be dead by now!!!!

i wonder what the percentage is of ex-jws who become involved in other organized religions.
i had a discussion with a psychiatrist friend recently.
he told me that i am a "psychiatric anamoly," that most "devout" people who leave a religion will join another and become as devout in their new religion.
I thought about this for a while too but rememberthe recipients of that letter, they we're planning and preparing for the persecution they were recieving, and how to deal with all that was involved with the destruction of Jerusalem.
We know we need assoication with people and friendships, but where does it say that it has to be in a 'chruch'? How about when you have people over and show love and hospitality. If your relgious no doubt something will come up, some subject, but you are enjoying fellowship and being built up. I don't see a need to be in a church, that doesn't teach what the Bible teaches any way just to fulfill that one verse. Also we have great discussions and fellowship here online, on the boards, in chat and on yahoo!!!!

i talked to my jw friend today.
she and her husband were studied with by larry graham, in california, about 10 years ago, or more.
i asked if she knew anything about prince being a jw, and she said that their son went to visit the grahams in minnesota a year ago, and met prince at their home, and that he had been studying then, for about a year.
So when he raises his hand at the WT study what do they call him?
"Ummm the Brother formerly known as the Artist formerly known as Prince?"

Hi Bonnie!
As my good friend Wingnut said once, "Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship, a relationship with God and Jesus." That pretty much sums it up for me. I will NEVER EVER let anyone come between me and God again, and I will NEVER EVER let anyone else tell me what I can and cannot belive. I don't feel the need for any sort of organized relgion, so I will never join again. I have a very strong faith, but dont' feel the need to be dogmatic about anything, the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. The most important thing is not what we know, or belive, but WHO we are, what kind of people we are and how we treat others!!!
SF,
WHoooo mee??? Well that does explain a lot . I didn't realise how much you went through as a little girl, I'm truly sorry. But in a way I think it's made you stronger, you are a very passionate and caring person, don't ever lose that, or think we don't notice!
You know it's kinda ironic that you fought so hard to walk, and now we call you TWURLY .
Riz:
