Has anyone any contacts in Australia specifically Jehovah Witnesses
by tor1500 ini hope i added this topic so everyone could read & comment.
i was just thinking, since this arc thing, does anyone here know any one in australia, that knows about the arc or how it's affecting the jw's there.
i used to go to a site that had a really nice person who is a jw, he never argued or debated, never sent back hateful comments, & he lives in australia.

The mistranslation of John 14.10
by Wonderment indarby bible translation says the following at john 14.10 (brackets his): .
"believest thou not that i [am] in the father, and that the father is in me?
the words which i speak to you i do not speak from myself; but the father who abides in me, he does the works.".

Wonderment, I am a Trinitarian who has spent much time and meditation on this subject. First, I want to agree with you on your assessment of the meaning of that verse. Unity is an overwhelming theme of the relationship of the Father and Son throughout the Bible. Second, the concept of the Trinity must be understood by assessing ALL relevant verses together. Too many people on both sides don't follow 2 Tim. 3:16 by including "All Scripture..." Anyone who points to simply John 14:10 or 10:30 or any single verse to prove a complex point probably doesn't really understand the concept of the Trinity. I was admittedly stumped for two years of study trying to handle "conflicting" verses, finally overcoming the difficulty. I wish you the best. Thanks you for your post. -

This is how I have explained the Trinity to those without a background in Christianity. Imagine that the words coming out of my mouth were visible to you. You could experience them with your senses as separate than me, but they are my words, and no one else's...not even their own. They can only say what I want them to say, they can only do what I want them to do because they are my words. In this respect, I am greater than my words because they are subject to me. On a similar note, my actions can be perceived the same way, except my actions are subject to both me and my words. They are perceived separate from each other, however they are infinitely linked since they are me and only me.
We both know there is nothing "of this world" that truly describes the God of the Bible. Therefore no description would be completely accurate. We still have a lot to learn in that regard. In my opinion, it is okay to not fully comprehend something and yet still have faith that it is true. Would you not agree on that basic tenet, Cofty?

I see Christ as the Father's Word manifested in the flesh, and the Holy Spirit as the Father's actions manifested as whatever was observed.
Observed distinct from each other, reliant upon the will of the Father, and yet cannot be separated.

I can imagine..."So, with regard to shunning, are you more like Catholics or Scientologists?" That should elicit an interesting answer. -

Jesus is not Michael the Archangel here is why
by paradisebeauty inone of the biggest missunderstanding and unbiblical teaching of the jw's is that jesus is michael the archangel.
here is what proffessor anthony buzzard has to say about this:.

I view Christ as God's literal Word made manifest, which is more than a messenger. It would be irresponsible to say God eternally didn't have his own Word until Genesis 1:1 occurred. (I see Micah 5:2 differently..."from eternity" or everlasting, ancient of days, etc. implies eternity past). Seeing Jesus as God's literal Word allows for clarity on certain OT questions I had like all the times people talked to a physical person and called Him YHWH. Or manifest as fire preceding the Israelites because "My name is in Him" (See meaning of Yeshua). The reason I see Jesus as God is because if Jesus is God's Word, then who else could Jesus be? My words cannot be distinct from me. This also explains why Jesus could "only say what the Father wills [Jesus] to say" or he could only "do what the Father wills [Jesus] to do." -

Index of acronyms : help for new forumers
by Mary J Blige inam finding a whole lot of acronyms that are really foreign to me and i now have an appreciation for what cult language sounds like to non-culters.
wondering please if you can post your definitions so i can get up to speed.
otherwise, as an indoctrinated ex-culter, i am inclined to create my own new light and swiftly it will be gospel.

This may very well be the funniest thread I have ever seen here. I admit, it took me a LONG time before I began to catch on. Thanks to those who enlightened people like me. -

From A Bublical Point Of View Did You Ever Think The Trinity Doctrine Made Sense?
by minimus ini see no logic in it.
i see what appears to be some scriptural contradictions but i see no merit in a trinitarian view of god.. .

I spent about two years in deep study on the Trinity. I can honestly say that I understand it about as much as I can. I had an epiphany when I realized two things: JWs think the Trinity is modalism (and so the questions they ask are moot), and when I began thinking of Jesus as literally God's Word and viewing scriptures with that in mind. It really changed my perception and brought a lot of clarity to this issue.
