same issue, different article, if I can hi-jack for a moment, the WTS upholds the counsel that certain forms of 'in vitro fertilization' are "unacceptable to God's servants". Especially when sperm of someone not the husband is used to fertilize the wife's eggs, or if embryos placed in the wife 'involve neither her eggs nor her husband's sperm'.
They quote the Old Testament, or, Hebrew Scriptures, if you prefer: "You must not give your emission as semen to the wife of your associate to become unclean by it", and then the article goes on to say, quote: "When fertilization involving eggs or sperm (or both) from someone not within the marriage union occurs, this amounts to what the Bible terms porneia, sexual immorality. Those procedures are a gross misuse of the sexual organs"
So, the WTS hasn't changed their viewpoint on this.... and apparently Jehovah is still quilty of porneia. Under WT law, he grossly misued the virgin Mary's sexual organs.

BluesBrother: We do not have Superbowl over here
Assuming you're in Great Britain... Yea, ya do... I watched it in a pub in London one year. The TV Commentators were somewhat at a loss as to how to explain the rules (with the exception of one ex-NFL player who shouldve stayed out of broadcasting), and the locals were bemused by the spectacle, but it was on the telly and us traveling Yanks were having a good time.

Wouldn't want those JWs to TALK to one another after a beer......you never know what might be said...........
There's probably more truth to this than we realize. It seems like they have a real fear of any gathering of the sheeple outside of pre-programmed and WT controlled events.
They even did away with the Book Study arrangement. Can't have the dubbies discussing doctrine over pie and coffee after the meeting, coming to conclusions not prescribed by 'mother'. They discouraged large gatherings of congregation picnics, going so far as to make sure that the term 'congregation picnic' was not to be used. They've discouraged large wedding receptions and the use of alcohol at any gathering. They don't outright ban it, but put a heavy guilt trip on anyone thinking about serving it.
Now Super Bowl parties, where - oh my god - crappy Bud Light and Coors Light will be served. in vino veritas is the fear of the GB when dubbies get together and have a few. In the leadership's mind, the doubts, questions and disenchantments are more apt to be voiced at a gathering of this nature.
A fear to have of some private JW gatherings, but not so much at Super Bowl parties. It's too much pre-game hype, sub-par football, beer and Go-Daddy commercials, half-baked half-time shows and the true enjoyment of being able to actually celebrate at least one 'worldy' holiday without being sanctioned....until now anyway.

Some funny/curious quotes from the 2013 Yearbook (part 1)
by cedars ini just thought i'd amuse myself by seeing what madness awaits in the new 2013 yearbook.. you might like to read some of the gems i've uncovered.... .
"true christians are soon to cross into the promised new world, so they need to be courageous and strong.
how soon are we talking about?

I'm wondering what the relatives of the 153 people who died in the plane crash would make of the JW-version of this tragedy.
I'm wondering what the family and friends of the JW girl raped and killed by a fellow JW makes of how Jehovah truly had his hand in this tragedy, saving the family, yet lifted not a finger to help this poor girl in her tragedy...
I've already gone off on a couple of people who have pulled the "Jah/God/Allah was with me/them/us/whoever" mentality. Whether it's JWs, or any other religion, that is about the most insensitive and stupid thing anyone can say after a tragedy.

Found it. It's downloadable on JW.org My, how Jehovah's chariot is speeding up the work in these last days...
Anyway... Page 174 thru 176 - an article entitled "One Hundred Years Ago 1913"
Quote on page 176: "Jehovah's people were also optimistic but for different reasons. The Bible Students had long heralded 1914 as a pivotal year in human history, and their expectations ran high." Further down a couple of paragraphs: "What was in store for 1914? How would the 'Photo-Drama (of Creation) be received? What would happen in the fall, at the end of the Gentile Times? The Bible Students eagerly awaited the answers to these questions, confident of Jehovah's backing. ... The next year was to be one of great change for the Bible Students-and the entire world." End of article.
Wait... What? What was pivotal about 1914? What was in store for 1914? What did happen in the fall at the end of the Gentile Times? What was the great change?
Tune in next year, same batshit channel, same batshit publication, to see what new batshit revisionist history they come up with to deflect what really happened in 1914, yet try to convince 2014 dubs that the WTS was on top of their game a hundred years ago.

"A Cult Member Finds the Truth"
Someone was reading JWFacts.com and they reported on it in the Yearbook?
Seriously... someone needs to cut and paste that entire article.
