There were some interesting positions tried along the way, even some stuff the WTS wouldn't approve of, on rare occasions, but that was very rare indeed.

That's irregular unregular
so last night the wife is working, the kids are getting ready for bed and i'm watching futurama.
doorbell rings.
now it's dark, snowing and i live on a back road, so it's very odd to have a visitor.
i also have the benefit of most people being intimidated by me so no regular publisher will pop in. they know better
That is a benefit. I'm not overly intimidating, but I am known to defend myself when backed into a corner. One elder in particular found that out when he and another elder 'popped in' one day early in my exit. He was condescending, then pushy then insulting. And in my home. I jumped back in his shit and ended up kicking both of em out of the house. They never bothered me again. And when I do see them on rare occasion, they avoid me.
The story spread and a lot of dubs are apprehensive around me. That or they never really liked me to begin with and now have an excuse to be standoffish... which works for me. Don't care to pretend to like them anymore either.
Swoosh... Right over y'all's heads...
"regular" as in plain ole everyday vs kinky, perverted, porn movie worthy
seriously, i don't own a zambonee, swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, work out gym, vollyball sand pit, horse shoe pit, orchards, sauna, maple syrup/apple cider processing room and now a golf course.
Please, some-one tell me this is not what you are referring to.
Yep, zamboni is an ice-resurfacer. You see em at hockey games and ice skating matches.
here's some in action...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVkJbvv3pHg
Which leads me to the question: The WTS has a hockey team? That's cool. What're they called? The New York Yahwehs? Or maybe the Brooklyn Bastards. I wonder who their goons are... Every righteous cause needs an enforcer.
Regular sex? That's not wild or crazy at all...
greetings to all jwn members and lurkers,.

or a corkscrew for opening the wine.
c'mon now, you know better'n that. They only use cheap screw top wine at the Memorials
I experimented. Tested my boundries. Found those boundries. Stay within them for the most part now.
You know... the shit teenagers and college kids do at the age of 18 to 22 or so. The stuff that most born-in JWs never experience. Once you get through it, survive it, you settle down into what works for you and you stablize. Even if that stablized lifestyle is considered 'wild or crazy' by zealous, dull, JWs.

im sure this has been reiterated over the years again and again.. .
but how we approach our jw loved ones may either free them...or drive them further into the organization and away from us.
If someone wants to believe, they're going to believe. You can't change their mind no matter how logical, factual, reasonable you present the message. This is true in a lot of areas, not just religion. But when they're indoctrinated into a cult religion, not only are they close minded on their own accord, they're influenced by the leadership to be even more stubborn and steadfast.
Not to say it can't be done, but if you're going to try to open someone's mind, you're going to have to tailor it to that specific person and their particular hangups that you can take advantage of.
I learned the hard way to not be aggressive or to be too critical. It only makes them defensives and they get their back up. You have to let the moment come to you. Sometimes it doesn't happen for while, other times it drops in your lap as if you planned it. Let the natural course of events take place, but when something happens or is said that flies in the face of the WT-think, you can pounce on that and push it to the edge to see what response you get. Sometimes you make progress, sometimes they shut down. I've actually seen the JW's eyes glaze over when I reached critical mass when pushing the edge on a discussion, pointing out the illogical and delusion of believing in certain WT fantasies. That was probably too far, but I think it settled somewhere in the recesses to come back later.
Letting outsiders influence a JW helps too. The key here is to have a life outside of the four KH walls. If they only ever associate with JWs, they may never learn to think for themselves. But get them out of that setting, realize that 'worldly' people aren't so evil and they start to enjoy the outside life. In time - and it does take patience in this strategy - they become less JW and more normal. They may still have some deep held JW beliefs, but on the surface they're letting go and moving into a more normal way of life. Sooner or later, the two worlds collide and discomfort causes them to hopefully meditate on what is causing it. Their eyes open to their own cognitive dissonance, and the real escape can begin.

Not saying I'm going, but it might be interesting to see how they change the talk. Historically it's a few minutes about the life of Jesus, then a big ole chunk about the Faithful and Discreet Slave class, their importance and the importance of us peons to not partake and then a few minutes of passing crackers and Manischewitz around.
Now that the Governing Body IS the F&DS, how will they change the talk? Will they just re-word it to drop the F&DS references and just refer to the partakers as "the anointed"? Or will they take this oppurtunity to start the process of de-emphasizing the importance of the anointed, opening the way for an eventual opening up of everyone partaking (not likely on that last part, but something's gotta give sooner or later)
thank you for all of your support durning the two difficult weeks my mother was on her death bed.
last night at 10:30pm she breath her last with my sister and i by her side.
