I saw part of an episode for the first time the other night. If a JW were to stumble upon this episode just as I had, they would not make an immediate correlation. This particular episode went into some really wacko stuff that would make the WTS leadership jealous. An everyday JW would even scream, 'CULT' (not realizing of course they're in a more benign version of a similar deal)

Scientology series, Leah Remini
by nonjwspouse ini did a quick search on this topic here and didn't come up with anything.
if anyone has the chance to watch this a&e documentary series on scientology hosted by leah remini it is very very good.
the parallels are just to obvious to ignore!

Williams sister got engaged to some guy from Reddit
by wozza inso is he a witness or if not what are gb going to do about it since she identifies with the watchtower society?.

A JW of George Benson's stature to pull a Leah Remini would be more substantial than a Williams sister.
If he were to wake up, he could do some damage.

Watchtower April, 2017 Overview
by Listener ini'll start with the first study article.. this study article deals with vows made to jehovah.
three main vows are discussed.. 1) your dedication to jehovah.
we are told that it is not possible to claim that our baptism was not valid .

The dedication crap is a smoke screen. The following info on apostate spouses is the real big deal.
They couldn't leave it at what Jesus said about 'Scriptural grounds' for divorce. They had to add this next bit:
The Bible does not set out grounds for marital separation. However, some married Christians have viewed certain situations as a reason for separation, such as the extreme endangerment of one’s life or spirituality by an abusive or apostate spouse.
Isolate the import of the last sentence. 'endangerment of ... spirituality by ... an apostate spouse'
They are putting it in clearer than ever writing that leaving the marriage arrangement when the other spouse wakes up to the lies of the WT and declares oneself free of WT control and authority is authorized, and maybe recommended. They have equaled so called 'spiritual endangerment' to 'extreme' physical danger.
This is a straight up cult move. This is dangerous to anyone who has awakened, and their mate is still a zealous believer. This is going to get ugly for a lot of people.

Exact quote?
Not that it is beyond the WTS to make such a claim, saying 'dedication to god' when actually implying dedication to their struggling publishing company.
Problem with such a statement is that it will not work on anyone who is awake to their falsehoods. It might keep true believers in line - at least until the day they themselves have their own crisis of conscious

RC 2017
by wifibandit indue to last years success, i will post everything related to the 2017 regional convention in this thread.. to start us off.... thanks to exjw reddit user ich3b we have advance notice of the theme (this is not a joke!).
the theme for the 2017 regional convention is: "don’t give up!” .
as always, if you have access to confidential materials you would like to leak but need to protect your identity, pm me or email me: wifibandit1 (at) gmail.

Confirmed. This is not a joke.
Need some documentation from an authorized WT source. It's too incredibly stupid to be an actual theme for a convention, but boy would it be nice if this were true...

Another "pull the football away just before you can kick it" comment made by Circuit Assembly's special guest, Thomas Chicky
by sir82 ini started a thread on this guy's comments about building kingdom halls here.. the guy also said this (again, not a word for word quote, but the gist of his comments):.
"the primary hope of salvation is the resurrection.
jehovah does not promise anyone that he will survive armageddon.

...the only thing that Jehovah has promised us is a resurrection.
ooops. I guess they forgot about 'the Creator's promise' they published twice a month....
Most important, this magazine (Awake! prior to 1995) builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away

The con is completed - comments from the US branch's LDC chief
by sir82 inrecently attended a special assembly day.. guest speaker was thomas chicky, a member of the us branch committee and the head of the us ldc (which has replaced the rbcs).. the last talk of the day is scheduled for an hour.
it was the usual boring mumbo-jumbo.
he appeared to have blasted through his hour-long outline in just about 45 minutes, so he "treated" us to informal comments on recent developments.. he commented on the new wt complex in fishkill ny.. then he dropped the bomb (well, to anyone with ears and at least 2 functioning synapses).. the following is not a word for quote, but presents the gist of his comments:.

Maybe this is a non sequitur, but the other day, it dawned on me that with the new WT TV on JWdotorg (I refuse to accidentally create a link to it), that meetings in physical buildings are, in a way, no longer needed. Everything you need spiritually is a couple of clicks away. (God's pretty hip to technology, I'm sure his spirit can hitch a ride on WiFi )
Maybe, just maybe, the power behind the throne, so to speak, at WT hq has a long run game plan. As the youth desert in ever growing numbers, all that's left are the old timers, and the not-so-bright. Over time, the plan is to become a straight up Internet religion. You allow the numbers to dwindle to the obsessed believers only, fleecing them for the money for upkeep on the shiny, new cult compound. The need for Kingdom Halls decreases over time, as the publisher numbers decline, but it doesn't matter. Door to door is dead, they'll abandon the carts somewhere down the line. All they need is for people to send them money so they can live in a lap of luxury in upstate New York.
This won't happen overnight. Until such a time when KHs are no longer needed, they'll still fight tooth and nail for every bit of power, trying to keep the apostate minded at bay, so they don't overly influence still believing family and friends. But sometime down the line, they'll finally flip the switch, and they'll open the symbolic door, allowing the disenchanted to escape, while at the same time closing the physical door to the KH. Only true believers need apply online...

JWs vandalizing homes/property of apostates
by StarTrekAngel ini have read over the past few years of many cases of elder harassment and unwanted visitations.
however, there is a couple of stories out there where it has been presented that eventually the apostate in question comes home one day to find that their home has been trashed or covered with graffiti, which by the words written, seems to imply that it was a jw taking "revenge" or seemingly delivering divine justice against the apostate.
most of these are stories i've read online from several years ago.. have you individually or the group ever heard or stumbled upon these cases?

Reading the first post, my initial reaction was, 'JWs may stoop to shunning ex members, but that's at the behest of the powers that run things, not an inherent idea of their own. To vandalize of their own volition would not be in the typical JW mindset' -- then I read through the thread. I'm surprised that some would do the things mentioned, but then, this religion does attract some abnormal people, so there ya go...
