one of my closest friends in all the world is someone i'll call m. m is in her mid-thirties and was raised a jw from infancy but is one no longer.
her parents are still very jw... her dad is a very high profile, respected elder in a large american city.
they are both cool people... i've sat and had long talks with both of them about subjects having nothing to do with 'the truth.
That was beatiful--it brought tears to my eyes. It made me think of my Dad who is still a JW, but he tells me that he loves me regardless of the religious differences. We've had hard times with it (still do now and then), but I'm happy he still loves me despite. I lost my mom over the JW blood issue when I was 3, but I'm glad I still have him. I'm glad your friend has such a wonderful relationship with her parents. That's a bright spot in the many sad JWs stories/relationships. Thanks for sharing.

does anyone know or heard if its true that alec baldwin has become a witness?
He beat Kim Bassinger??
my husband and i have a friend who credits the lord with every good thing that happens in his life.
he is really a nice guy, unmarried, no kids and is now in remission from non hodgkins lymphoma (again, credit to the lord).
what do you think about people who credit the lord for every good thing that happens to them?
Last post on this thread: I'm not posting to change anyone's beliefs and you're not going to change mine--that's not my or anyone else's job (holy spirit). And if you notice, the JWs aren't the only ones with a Bible--that was 'round a long time before they were and will be after they're gone. They didn't write the Bible so get over the 'sounding like a JW' blab. Shocker, I know...but they didn't. It's hard to believe. Let's move on.
Just because you don't believe in God doesn't mean He doesn't exist.
The earth is here and there is an expanse outside of it for a reason. And don't give me the 'big bang' and other theories, because it doesn't stick in the slightest.

Romans 3:23 we all fall short of God
Romans 5:8 Christ died for us
Romans 6:23 the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is life
Romans 10:9, 10 confess Jesus as Lord, resulting in salvation
Romans 10:13 whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved
_________
If someone gives you a gift, don't you have to move to pick it up? There is action on your part to hold it, open it, etc. You have received the gift. It's a free gift from God but you must receive it as laid out in scripture.
Faith: either you have it or you don't. Simple fact, basic truth.
this morning, i went outside for a smoke, and lo and behold, down the street i saw 2 dubs just starting their door-to-door work.
it was an older dub brother i used to know from my old congregation, and an unidentifiable sister.
i knew that they would not be good candidates for the current un/ngo discussion, as he is a dub who really doesn't get it.
We usually let them in and witness to them. Leads to some good discussions (they don't realize the roads we take them down). Our true Jesus is no match for their false one...Jesus said that we as His followers are the "light of the world." So true! :)
question: why did god use adam's rib to make eve.
why not his ass, his toe, his appendix or his ear?
You're annoying.
can anyone recomend any info or essay asnwering this question?
friends ask me to tell them what other organization is the true religion.
i realize its not even a very good question in the first place.
Last I checked Jesus Christ existed long before the WT Society, and since salvation only rests with him, guess what, I usually tell them, He's where I'm going to go! Crazy that JWs think they are the only ones that know about Jesus. Like he's someone only they found out about. I know, I used to be one and thought the same thing. Crazy though.
Christ is the end of those establishing righteousness by the decrees, regulations and works of sacrifices of the old covenant pronounced in the law, so that everyone exercising faith in him may have righteousness. This is the "accurate knowledge" that Paul is speaking about and the basic doctrine for salvation, not the thousands of unclear doctrines and zig zagging interpretations of the Watchtower such as 1914 (and the other dates), the other sheep class, the great crowd, blood components, employment on a military base, joining the YMCA, etc., etc. Instead the "love of Christ surpasses all of this knowledge" And this "love," small acts of individual mercy shown to others, is what we are to "add to our faith." (Eph 3:19; Romans 10:1-4; 2 Peter 1:5-8)
I go to church for evening bible studies, go for Sunday worship, joined a ministry to help share the gospel to people in crisis, there are hundreds of places to go that have the true Jesus.
an apology from dave wiltshire to you know!.
after looking at jude 8,9 i feel i owe you know an apology.. look what it says:.
in like manner not withstanding, these men, too, indulging in dreams, are defiling the flesh and disregarding lordship and speaking abusively of glorious ones.
Interesting point: If Jesus is Michael the Archangel (Jesus Christ is more than some mere angel as the JWs would have JWs believe), then he would be able to judge Satan in this scripture in Jude. How so?
John 5:22 "The Father doesn't judge anyone. He has entrusted judgment ENTIRELY to the Son."
John 5:27 "He has also gave the Son AUTHORITY to pass judgment because he is the Son of Man."
Makes you wonder who Michael the Archangel really is...why doesn't he have the power of judging? Because Michael is not Jesus Christ, as the bible clearly shows.
Who is Jesus? Rev. 1:8 says "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God (notice it says Lord God) who is to come, the Almighty." Keep reading chapter 1, because John in verse 12 turns to see the voice that is speaking to him, and verse 13 says "I saw one the son of man clothed in a robe reaching to the feet." Jesus was speaking to John, calling himself "the Alpha and the Omega." The Lord God. Then read in verse 17 Jesus calls himself "the first and the last". Interesting. Jesus is God, but NOT like the JWs would have you believe that we Christains believe He is.
I like to use an orange illustration: you have the pulp, the seeds and the skin. The pulp (holy spirit), seeds (Jesus) and skin (the Father) are all TOTALLY differant in purpose and function, but they all make up ONE orange. There are many, many other scriptures that help you understand the relationship. The bible is a wonderful teaching tool, and guess what? It existed long before 'The Watchtower' and 'Awake', and as 2 Tim. 3:15 says that the bible is 'able to give you the wisdom that LEADS TO SALVATION through faith which is in Christ Jesus.' Not the WT.
I encourage all JWs to please do some research on who really is Micheal the Archangel and who Jesus is. Cross reference scriptures (use other versions in addition to the NWT) The bible is full of explainations, and please e-mail me if you don't mind.

my question for everyone is how did you leave the org?
not really what led up to it but what did you do to no longer be a part of it?.
personally, i think i have to have one of the more humerous stories of leaving.
False doctrines? Couldn't be. I researched and researched for about a year and found out, to my horror and dismay, that JWs did not teach the truth. I was numb over several months, and then found this weird thing: a relationship with Jesus.
After going to a regular bible study (evenings) at church, attending Sunday services, associations with fellow believers and studying, I committed my life to Christ, then two years later got baptized. At that point, my conscience really kept bothering me that my name was on the JW list as being a member (Jesus said leave false religion), so I turned in my disassociation letter about two years later. Now I stand tall before my Lord with false religion in the past.
